Unfortunately, being the Pope has a few requirements. At least you've got the celibacy part going for you.

    • +1

At least the old pope didn't pass the position down to one of his kids

      • Nepo pope would be so modern.

    US Pope

Trump will claim it was because of him.

    • Trump said he could end the war in a day wasn't he…

      • +2

Just as soon as he unveils his health plan; only 2 weeks to go…

    • +1

My thoughts too. Something along the lines of "god loves america" etc etc.

      • +2

If Catholics believe the Pope is God’s representative on Earth, who will tell Trump he isn't God?

    • +4

      Making Catholics great again.

    • +1

By all rights this guy seems to be progressive. Hopefully he becomes a thorn in Trump’s side.

      • +1

More like another pocket to drop coin in. Don't forget the RC religion want an endless supply of children and so does Musk.I'm sure there's a deal in there somewhere.

    • He did a deal with God

"Folks, you’re not gonna believe this — we finally did it. The new Pope? He’s American. That’s right — AMERICAN! Why? Because America is great again, that's why! The Vatican saw what we're doing — the strength, the success, the tremendous, record-breaking winning — and they said, 'We want some of that!' So now we’ve got the best Pope, from the best country. Other countries, they're shocked. Totally shocked! But we’re not surprised — because when you’re winning this much, even the Church wants in."

Help me. Can you explain your process for joining those two dots?

      • +2

They are both new and Hope rhymes with Pope. But I reckon that it would be hard to cope with that idea… as it could be a slippery slope of rhymes. It would be dope if it made sense?

Francis was born into a poor christian country, and was raised with a stromg belief in socialism to lift people from poverty. Then he got the gig and was pursued by the relentless conga line of self servers like Klaus, Ursula. Bill and his lovely wife Hilary, and the Obamas. These people perverted his support

Whilst I'm no fan of the Catholic Church, and of organised religion in general, this is some serious slander.

Not sure why you are trying to downplay his struggles in particular - he grew up in a poor family in Argentina, the son of Italian refugees of Mussolini. But hey, since he happened to become the leader of the Catholic Church 70+ years later, this somehow invalidates his struggle growing up.

Now he lives like a king on Vatican money. Then he became Pope. The rest is history propaganda to keep the babies and $$$ rolling in. Imagine comparing such ppl to the RC hierarchy and inferring the church are the lifters, and the not leaners.

This isn't even true. Pope Francis certainly does not "live like a king", and lived in a simple two-bedroom apartment. He lived with others who worked for the Vatican, and specifically chose to not "live like a king" (e.g. see https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-21949118).

There are many things to criticise organised religion about, but I have a lot of respect for the way Francis conducted himself personally and the values he lived by. The fact that he denounced the war in Gaza, and had a direct line to local church leaders within Gaza (and kept in contact with them daily until his last days) makes him (at least in my opinion) far more principled and courageous than almost all world leaders turning a blind eye to the slaughter.

But hey, "religion bad, and $$$$", so who cares, right?

Yeah did read on News.com that even a right wing conservative pope with slightly left leaning tendencies is an enemy of the republicans.

        had a chuckle

      • Finally an accent Musk can use his AI on to make deep fake Pope videos to get the masses to out-breed the planet like him.

There's nothing strange about the sequence of events:

    Pope Francis harshly criticizes Trump

    JD Vance travels to Rome

The day after meeting with JD Vance, Pope Francis dies—even though his illness had been subsiding

At the funeral, leaders of all major countries meet, creating opportunities for new discussions

    The conclave begins

During the conclave, Trump posts on X a picture of himself as the pope, suggesting he controls the papacy before anyone has any idea who will be chosen

For the first time in history, an American is elected pope

The new pope takes a name that is an anagram of "Elon"

Yeah the organisation that invented accounting, has been around for around 2000 years, at one point controlled most of Europe, currently has 177k square km of land across the world (second largest landholder after the British Royal Family) and had four popes from the Medici banking family… yeah I'm sure they'd be swayed by 1 billion units of fiat currency. /s

  • A truly grotesque omen happened just before Pope Leo was chosen. A seagull vomited a rat moments before the white smoke appeared.

    https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/world/omenmissed-detail-…

11 years ago when children next to Pope Francis released 2 white doves for peacez the doves were attacked by a seagull and crow. This was just before mass media started pushing race conflicts and the breakdown of race relations in the USA. White seagull. Black crow. An attack on peace.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-25905108

I wonder what the vomited rat will be seen as an omen for in the next few years.
