      • +1

Likely Amazon is not delivering this to their address.

"2 options for the edition of the coffee powder: in the coffee powder container or directly in the filter holder – Espresso Machine using an adapters"

Even ignoring the addition/edition typo, what does this mean

    • +2

You can have the grinds go into a container or an espresso tamper to fit into your espresso machine.

      • Oh yeah that makes sense

    • Wonder who's responsible for the clear mistranslation from Italian? I am guessing they're trying to say:
There are two options for how the coffee powder is dispensed

      • +4

Haha, from Italian. You mean Chinese.

  • OOS???

I got this as a backup when my better grinder broke but I don't rate it very highly. Maybe ok with tweaking.

It is normally paired with the Delonghi dedica coffee machine that uses pressurised baskets by default. In my view it doesn't grind finely enough for non-pressurised baskets out of the box.

I tweaked mine with washers to grind a bit finer and it's OK but not great. Looks nice but construction is cheapish.

    • +3

Probably worth $89 the original RRP is laughable

      • yeah for $89 its an OK deal. People who use pressurised baskets would probably love it, and it is possible to get a passable result.

I still have mine as a backup, just not my daily grinder.

        • What's the difference between a pressurized and non- basket? Whew, I have the Dedica.

          • +5

@ihbh: Pressurised builds pressure by only having a tiny hole in bottom of the basket. This means you get pressure and OK extraction even if your grind and tamping is not good. You can see this on your dedica by pulling the basket out of the group handle. it just pops out held by clips on the side wall.

Unpressurised is what cafes use. The bottom of the basket is open. The pressure comes from the coffee due to the grinding and tamping. The extraction gives you the rich crema without being watery or bitter if you get right. If you don't get the grind and tamp right, it will often be worse than the pressurised.

In summary pressurised is much more forgiving. You will get an OK cup but never excellent. Non-pressurised will give excellent results if done right, crap results if done wrong.

You can buy a single walled (non-pressurised) basket for the dedica. If you use it you need to get the grind and tamping right for a decent coffee, which isn't difficult.

            • @lunchbox99: Thanks for the info 👍

            • @lunchbox99: Take my upvote. Fantastic summation. You need top copypasta this when the inevitable coffee machine sales start for EOFY

  • That rrp is suspiciously high. Everywhere else it’s about $200

  • +1

Back to $219 for me already - just changed as I was researching it

    Edit: and OOS

  • Anyone own one of these.

Re grinding into the portafilter, is there a bit of spillage outside based on the Swedish photos of the review?

  • Damn. True bargain for $90

  • +1

For some strange reason it showed up as $48.91 for myself! No idea why. I logged into an old account that I hadn’t used for a long time and there was a further discount. Couldn’t say no!

I’ve fallen for that once before/ thought I was getting a bargain and didn’t realise it was showing minus my Amazon credit.

  • dang missed it
    awesome price tho.

Anyone can share how is this compare to the baratza encore ESP?

    • +1

The baratza will be much better for espresso because it will be able to grind finer out of the box.

      • thank you for this
will be holding on for baratza deal in that case

    • +2

      Read my previous comment.
No experience w/ the baratza, but I like the WPM… built like a tank, super fast, quiet, nice touch screen, grinds fine enough to choke any coffee machine.

      • I also back this on WPM.

  • How does this compare to the breville smart grinder pro

  • +1

I've had one of these for about a year now, using it exclusively to grind for cold brew. The reason I got it was the reviews I read said that it's course grind settings were pretty good, delivering consistent grinds even at it's highest setting.

My experience is that it struggles at it's highest level with some inconsistent grounds but a couple steps in it's perfect, and makes for delicious cold brew. I imagine it would also work really well for a french press.

I can't offer an opinion on the espresso performance.

  • Anyone have a solution for grinding from this straight into a 54mm portafilter? A purchased part or 3d print design?
Out of the box i it only takes a 51mm…

    • +1

I saw an aluminium adapter on temu. Not sure if it'll work on this though

  • +1

FOMO is real. I already have a spare Baratza Encore ESP and now this. Someone tell me I have a use for this. Lol

    • If not, I'll take it!

  • +3

Have 1 for a few years.
    1. Doesn’t grind fine enough for espresso
    2. inconsistent grind size
    3. Sprays grinds when grinding directly into portafilter but option into the provided case works well.

At this price point you can’t complain too much. And if used for other non espresso, it might service fine.
