Beach LT is normally $1699 and Inlet is normally $1299

I've got two Beach LTs and they are quite easy to fold/unfold and kayak with.

From the website:

The portable Oru Beach LT is an origami-style kayak with an open, spacious cockpit that’s ideal on smooth water. As durable and stable as the Oru Inlet, the Beach LT is a little more focused on higher performance and tracking.

Oru’s latest version is even easier to assemble and use. It’s sporty enough if you’re experienced, but also fun and effortless for a casual paddle. For storage, it folds down to a couch cushion size to fit easily in your car boot, wardrobe or garage.

Portable - Designed to fold up compactly and then unfold easily in just ten minutes
Lightweight - At half the weight of a traditional kayak, it’s crafted to be lightweight yet extraordinarily strong
Durable - Built to last with puncture and abrasion resistance to withstand sliding over rocks, bumping into obstacles and even folding up tens of thousands of times (Manufacturer-rated for 20,000 fold cycles)
Spacious - Features a large, open cockpit with ample room for your dog, kid, cooler or fishing gear
Padded adjustable backrest
Cushioned seat pad
Adjustable footrest
Ultra-durable fairings
Ten year UV treatment
Tension strap
Removable bulkheads
Buckles with pull loops
Carry and cockpit handles

  • My Oru is absolutely amazing, except for the seat, needs some extra cushioning.

    • Have you used it fishing? Any feedback on carrying fishing equipment or paddling with a child?

I had my 18 kilo dog with me last weekend and we stayed dry.

    • I bought a cheap non-slip kayak seat on Amazon and it works very well.

  • Seems like am excellent deal, really cool product… for me, the higher risk of damage to the plastic may not mesh too well with a beginner. Would rather get something either more bulletproof or something dirt cheap and be happy to smash it round a bit more when starting out.

500 for an incredibly portable kayak seems like a pretty good beginner kayak to me

      • I do think it's an excellent deal. But I read/watched reviews on this kayak, and have also witnessed the kayaking ability of absolute beginners back when I was in school… Their dexterity and handling is often a bit lacking which leads to a lot of collisions. With this kayak, you have to be fairly careful to not get it scratched up or in contact with rocks/concrete, as the plastic is relatively fragile compared to hard body kayaks. But I guess if you are careful that's very easily mitigated! For sure nothing as portable is available at this price, but if it's going to used a bit roughly I wouldn't expect a long lifespan. Just my take anyway

        • You can't absolutely bash these, but it seems like they can take a few scrapes.
And they seem easy enough to maneuver and carry around, that hazards could be easily avoided. Even my cheapo inflatable was surprisingly easy to position. Weighing almost nothing helps.

  • For anyone that has an Oru, would the Inlet cut it for Sydney Harbour or would the Beach LT be a better option? Thanks!

    • Where in the harbour?

      • West of the harbour bridge

I would get the Beach for flexibility. They're the same price anyway.

  • Beach is showing as out of stock

    • Back in stock now

i think you just have to select a store to pickup from first

      • Yeah I ended up doing that but the Inlet was showing as in stock without selecting a store.

  • Wow this is a great deal, even if it's just the smaller one left in stock. That seems to be more portable and convenient to set up, while performance is not drastically reduced from the bigger one. Basically a slight lean towards convenience versus performance, and people really seem to love both for both purposes.

  • Just ordered Beach LT for delivery to the store… Rewardgateway has 7% off on GCs … It will be perfect to take camping and dont have to carry my heavy Kayak..

  • ive also ordered a Beach. i expect to see these all over the Mornington peninsula this summer. like wearing aldi ski gear at the snow.

  • If you can transport a solid kayak take your $500 to Gumtree.
If you are going far, go for over 15ft and a rudder or adjustable skeg.

  • anyone had an update on their order? ready to collect yet?

      Picked mine up last week
