    Add a plan is essential?

Never mind, saw that "without a plan " option

    • its over the deal now?

  • +3

FYI the A56 came out earlier this year and is $649

This model is a year old but should perform very closely

A56 is a downgrade. No sd slot, poorer camera and screen benchmarks

  • +1

A56 is $509 now. So it’s a pretty avg deal.

  • Says 700 available

  • +3

Nice find. Last A5X series phone with a microSD card slot.

    • I still got my sd and note 10 plus. Perfect in every way.

I love only snapdragons. I had always Samsung but whenever I used Exynos it despointed me.

    • It's fine on a mid-range/budget phone (just not their flagship).

      • Reason?-> 'just not their flagship'

        • +1

Generally Exynos has poorer performance and/or battery life.

    Another movie ticket

    • I remembered to screenshot it this time lol

      • I also received an email of the ticket

      • Yeah ive screenshot 3 so far

        • What are we talking about here? What am I missing? 😭

  • If they had any click and collect in ACT i'd buy one.

    • +1

Delivery is usually only 2 or 3 days if that helps (should come the next day via startrack, once dispatched by Telstra).

  • got a free ticket

    • How do we actually know if we get free movie ticket? In the app?

      • yes, click the yellow bird

        • each time I clicked that yellow bird, it's playing a short clip, but that's all? still can't understand how it's supposed to work

          • @hanofee: nothing comes up for me too, i believe you need to have a telstra service but i could be wrong

      • Screenshot if it helps. Not everyone seems to get the offers.

    • What's this about movie ticket?

  • is it locked to teltra?

  • +1

Given it's released 14 months ago, the deal is not attractive.
Will wait for A56 at around $420 instead, may be in EOFY.

Already sold out that was quick

    • Still available.

  • @hamza23, Samsung-AU is funding the large discount & noting-> '700 available until 7pm AEST'

  • What's the cheapest way to create Telstra ID?

i use the A55 as a work phone, cheap n cheerful

  • On a side note, I was looking for a phone for under $100 for work and was recommend a Nokia C01 Plus

A work college picked up a Samsung Galaxy A16 4G Lite for $199. Would getting one of these or even a A16 5G be the best thing to do?

    • The $260 Motorola G75 is better than the A16 5G

    • You have to set your budget first, A16 5G is around $350 but C01+ is only $150.
      They are not comparable.
If all you need is calls, SMS + whatsapp (or the like), Samsung A16 4G ($197) would be the most suitable basic phone for you.
While Nokia C01+ may be cheaper, it's laggy and offer less support years (security updates) than Samsung.

      • Just need to make calls with good sound, text, emails and Facebook

    • Wait for the Motorola G54 5G 8GB RAM/128GB charger, cable and case included!
Even after a year seems to be best value for money sub $200 phone
Likely to repeat again as prices have come down.

BTW: The cost of replacing a genuine battery for major flagship phones are around $150+

      • The G54 is a discontinued model from last year that has been cleared by most stores.

        • Is the Samsung A16 4G/5G really that laggy?

  • +2

Sooo conflicted moving on from an s20fe SD865 - into this a55 xD

    • +3

Is that actually an upgrade though? S20 FE is an awesome phone. I recently took the gamble & ordered a new battery off Aliexpress, still waiting for delivery. Hopefully it will be ok & keep mine running.

  • how do i actually purchase it?
the link takes me to monthly plan. im logged in, but where do i get the option to pay $349 for the phone??

    • Have you used the coupon code

    • +1

First click on 'Outright' under 'Payment term', then scroll to bottom and click 'add to cart', then apply coupon code under 'promo code'.

      • thanks, just purchased, are we able to refund at a local telstra store if unopened?

        • Nothing stated about that, change of mind returns on accessories are not allowed so it's probably unlikely but you could ask.

  • +1

IMO the Moto G75 5G is still representing a better deal as it comes with 256GB storage, a Moto Buds (value $148 in HN) and $89 dollars cheaper!

    • +1

I don't disagreee entirely but must note that the G75 has one less camera, worse build quality and a worse screen; whether those concessions (not major ones by any means) are worth the price difference is up to you.

      • If only the A55 had telephoto lens, it may have tipped me over. The macro lens substitute/implementation felt a bit lackluster from the reviews I've seen and wouldn't have much practical use imo compared to a tele lens.

  • Is there any way to get around not having a plan? I created a Telstra ID, but says I need a plan to buy it outright. I don't want to move carriers…

  • +1

    Promo code expired…

  • OzB members are crazy for mobile phones, not even 2hrs and 700 apparently sold!!!

  • +3

    Damn sad I missed this

  • @hamza23 Any Telstra deals? My bird is asleep.

    • Thanks for the reminder, I forgot. However nothing in my app today.

      • Sad. Tomorrow is the last day.
