How did you come up with this title even after posting 200+ posts

    • Posts mostly in forums.

    • At least he's consistent. Let the mods fix it every single time lol

  • Seems pretty big for a teenagers wrist. Anyone had experience with it?

  • This have been around the $50 mark on Amazon for many months..

5 Active doesn't even have AMOLED display. 5 Lite does

imo go for Xiaomi watches not the Redmi budget line. I read a bit of unreliability and quality issues with the redmi ones.

also you can't really see it in the photos but Redmi ones tend to have uneven bezels. e.g. the screen looks like it isn't centered and close to the top of the watch with a big bottom chin. they hide it in the photos but it's an LCD so quite obvious.

I got the Xiaomi Smart band 8 Pro for like $10 more than this from Amazon JP as well (you can probably get 9 Pro for the same $$ now) and I rate it highly. great connection to phone and great range. I just use it to count steps, notifications and running timer. battery lasts about 6-10 days.

9 Pro has some decent improvements such as 1200nits display, water rejection touchscreen (rinsing your watch under the tap doesn't cause it to tap and swipe randomly) forget the other improvements. 600nits on my Pro 8 is only just enough, I can read the screen under the sun but it's not exactly clear like 1200nits would be.

    • any link ?
      thanks

the price of Smart band 9 Pro is high at the moment but if you watch it for a few weeks you will notice it goes up and down.

I didn't need it urgently so I just watched it until the price dropped, paid around $70 for my Smart band 8 Pro from Amazon JP a year ago.

alternatively you could probably buy it on Aliexpress (make sure you buy the Global version) for similar price by stacking sitewide sale code, store/seller code, and cashback.

    • I have no idea where you got your information about the supposed faults of Redmi Watch from.
I've got Redmi Watch 4 and it's great.
It's about 2 years old and still looks and works as new. Even the battery life hasn't decreased.
It works like a Swiss watch ;)

      • it's well known in SEA that Redmi is Xiaomi's budget line up. so usually you don't see any of their products sold in Australia. they are actually much cheaper in SEA countries not the small price difference you see here from Amazon JP.

sorry I can't remember every single tid bit about the Redmi, pretty sure I was looking at the Watch 4 because at the time it was the alternative to the Smart band 8 Pro. the only things I remember are the sensors used are binned ones, so the steps and distance measured was not accurate. I can't find the japanese review I watched with subtitles but with extensive testing they mentioned Watch 4 steps were off by slightly over 20%, while the Xiaomi managed to be within 5% accuracy. similar results with GPS distances. there was some small differences in how the OS worked as well, the Redmi getting the newer HyperOS, but some differences in how the timer functioned when running etc.
I also do remember the Watch 4 display is properly centered though, so it looked much better than the Watch 5 which for some reason isn't centered.

sorry I can't find the review for you by searching in english "Redmi watch 4 review japan". I did a lot of research though and found these international reviews with more in detail testing through recommendations from the algorithm. I do this a lot when I can't find the details I want to know, and turn on translated subtitles. as I said above I wasn't in any rush and wanted the price to come down so I was just finding feedback and reviews over a few weeks.

it's good you are very happy with the performance of your watch, but reading reviews from china etc there did seem to be a theme of worse quality control with Redmi leading to a higher number of upset customer reviews. keep in mind yes this means you can still get a perfectly functioning Redmi watch, but there were some who were upset certain things did not work properly or last. personally because of this I ended up choosing the Xiaomi Smart band Pro 8 instead.

        • Those who are not happy with the product are very likely to complain and write about their bad experience. Those who are happy are highly unlikely to post their reviews.
That's the reason why you usually come across bad reviews rather than the good ones.

Go for the Lite for a little bit more $. Ok well around $20 more. Has a built in GPS for outdoor exercise which is worth it to me.

i bought this, and it looks really chunky and blocky, if you want something slim, dont get this.

How are these cheap watches with heart rate measurement

  • +1

Go for Xiaomi Band 9 Pro. It's GPS and other goodies.

    • +1

I have the 8 Pro and personally don't use the GPS at all. it's eats into the battery and I don't want to be charging more than once per week.
the step counter is decently accurate and I occasionally measure my heart rate that's about it.

other than that it's a great lightweight device that gives me all notifications (with the default icons from your phone! - this surpised me a lot and love it, you can tell which app within a second), I just enabled "other" notifications and didn't enable calls and messages. I find this method very handy.
it's durable too. I have banged it up a lot and not a single scratch or ding, which I wasn't expecting as well.
