Google Pixel 7 5G 128GB (Obsidian)
Like which ones?
Similar price 1.5 years ago when I bought it. Semi regret the purchase even at that price back then. The battery is just terrible. Get one of the newer models instead
I have the Pixel 7 and the battery is great. Lasts nearly 2 days. Maybe there's something up with yours…
2 day battery? How much screen time is that? I'll get 1 day with mild usage at best
makes the pro 9 for $699 look like the deal of the year
For this price I'd get a S23
s23 for 499?? where?
Nowhere.
Big money for a handset two generations old that had a rubbish chipset and modem at the time
Interestingly the chipset (directly) and modem are two of the things I WOULDN'T complain about on the 7!
I dislike it because:
- fairly significant screen smudging at low brightness
- poor battery life
- unreliable fingerprint reader
spending this much for 128gb hard pass
Name any other flagship from any generation with more storage than 128GB that sells for this cheap brand new? You can't.
Finger printer on 7 is pretty bad. at least go 8, yes, both optical scanner, in reality 8 is better. I had both 7 and 8.
lol
It's what they were almost two years ago in the Telstra deal. It's where I got mine. Where did they find stock?!
Yes, fingerprint scanner is bad.
I paid this in 2023 through Telstra.
Fingerprint scanner is bad, borderline useless. for $200 it's a deal, for $499 it's not when you can get a S24 or S25 for $200 more (pending Samsung deals).
Agree
yeah i paid around this ~2 years ago and i'll be happy to get a new phone the p7 sucks this is a bad deal for 5 hundo
I have a pixel 7a. It's great a heat brick during winter; especially if it's doing Android auto or wireless charging or even just sitting on table.
DUDE, I just got $450 google credit due to your simple post. THANK YOU!!!
PS: I can still use this phone though. I like it during winter especially.
I'm glad that it worked for you. Apparently mine is not affected :(
@bio: Sorry to hear that!
The voucher they gave me is valid for one year. I will wait one year and buy the pixel 9a or if my phone catches on fire before that.
Also calls can drop quite often too. Worst phone that I've had for a while but I will see it through. At this rate it will probably catch fire from the heat one day.
I'm not sure why people are complaining about the finger print scanner, mine usually works after about 7 tries.
mine usually works after about 7 tries.
It was only 5 tries on Pixel 5 and 6 tries on Pixel 6.
Lol this is crazy to hear. I've literally not had a failed read unless my hands / the screen has been wet.
Look, the fingerprint scanner is perfectly fine, as long as:
You forgot it can't be a full moon either. It NEVER works on a full moon.
Oh yeah, that too. It also senses if you're in a hurry.
And it works as a bright flashlight in a dark room, perfect for when you check something when your partner is sleeping.
Mine is surprisingly ok combined with face ID. BUT it won't work if you have the tip of your finger missing from the cheap Ozito hole saw you bought here. And also it's the finger is wet.
I honestly don't know why they got rid of fingerprint sensors on the back of phones. Even under the screen on the front - I can afford to lose 5 mm. My Huawei and Xiaomi phones would unlock in a fraction of a second.
YA. My LG 30 or something had it in the back and was fine.
Which pixels can do strong biometric authentication with the face scanner? It's pretty annoying that my face is enough to unlock the phone, but not to login to anything once it's unlocked.
i just moved from pixel 7 to 9, and biometric authentication is a breeze
I bought the Pixel 7 at launch and honestly still love it. Don't expect a perfect phone, but it has a great camera, solid UI, smooth everyday use.
Yes fingerprint scanner isn't the best, the battery is fine but unremarkable.
Finally an honest review that isn't over-exaggerated.
Same from me but the 7 Pro. I'm quite shocked at how well it still runs for a 2yo phone.
In fact, I'm not sure if the Pro has a different fingerprint scanner because mine is legit flawless and has been my only mode of unluck for years now.
Not sure $500 is a good deal today for a vanilla 7 though.
I also have the 7 Pro, not too bad of a phone, fingerprint scanner works fine for me. My wife got my Note 20 Ultra as a hand me down, and I instantly regretted it. Will be going to an S25 Ultra very soon.
same, both my partner and i have it and it's great and solid for normal use. I have had it for a bit over 2 year. We don't do games, but use it extensively to work and personal stuff (calls, videos, etc) Battery lasts a day (8am to 9pm at a minimum). Camera is VERY good, even get compliments form people who have iphones not much newer than the pixel 7. I just upgraded to pixel 9 only because my copany paid for it, but otherwise would still hae used it for at least 2 more years.
The camera is good.
Pixel 8a going for same price at Amaysim
And? This is a former flagship. #a phones are budget-midrange phones. Even a Pixel 6 / Pixel 6 Pro is better than a Pixel 9a.
469 with perks
1 year ago it was a good deal. Now doesn't seem like it anymore
For $200 extra, you can get a pixel 8 from Telstra for $699 outright
Deal is back again at $499, until 11/6
not really good compared to other pixel deals
