That overheating issue seems quite a concern (reviews on Bunnings website, etc.)

  • Interesting that they thought it was worth spending time and resources on this folding shaft design. Most professional garden maintenance crews would have a ute or trailer for their mowers. Wouldn't have thought space was an issue. Anyone see other benefits in this design?

    • 18v gear is NOT what contractors are using. This is for consumers.

      • Hmm ok. Dewalt's price point is usually pitched at trade, not DIY.
Even so, most consumers maintaining their own lawns usually have a shed or garage, so I'm still struggling to see the benefits of the folding shaft.
        Just seems like a gimmick.

        • Fits in little car better

          • @Qbagger: Yep sure. But how often you taking your trimmer for a ride in your little car?

  • I had one (previous model). The motor died 2nd year. Took 3 months to repair under warranty

    • Wow, exactly the same experience here. Previous model was with dewalt for repair for 4 months, they ended up deciding no spare parts, and gave me one of this model as replacement under warranty. This model is fine but I run 2 batteries for a fairly largish suburban yard.

the name sounds like there's a dire consequence if you mishandle this tool

    Don't buy this.

If you are in the DeWalt eco system or looking to get in but this one instead. Never missed a beat and is better than my Honda petrol trimmer

That is skin only and more expensive.

Yes, and it is a superior product… something are worth the extra cost - I have a large backyard and a landscaped front yard with lots of trimming.

  • I have this, been great with Kikuyu lawn. Charge every 3-4cuts. 100sqm lawn.

Upgrade they line to 2.8mm also.
