Interest rates aren’t high enough 😂

In the current world where a video card has reached $8,000 and Toyota dealers want $50k for a Corolla…..I won't shoot down the idea of a day when a 1TB spinning hard drive for some weird reason costs $1000, let alone a 20TB HD.

idea of a day when a 1TB spinning hard drive for some weird reason costs $1000

that will surely be the case if (or when) the US and china goes to war.

          • @sangohan: It’s not necessarily true that everything must be made in China, or that when China’s low-cost laborers realize their endurance is no longer an advantage and choose to say no to fate and the fking dictators, it’s not bad for the future of people there.

  • Looking to setup a NAS in the next 6-12 months. How does this rate compare for ironwolf pro/red pro/exo level drives?

Buy now? Or probably be better priced at some stage

The good time is when you need it.

I paid less for the 22tb last year by the way so no a great discount.

    • Probably best to wait until black friday based on your timeline

    • This is a terrible price. I paid $500 each about 2 years ago for these 20tb Red pros. Wait until the tariffs go down. The drives go on special here and there. Most of the time its not put on ozbargain, as it can only last a day or so with little stock. Better off doing a constant check yourself in a few months. Don't get seagate (if you do only get Exos)

      • Yeah, I mean it sucks but the current market is the current market. I got a WD red pro 16tb for $370 in July 23. Hard drive prices have risen drastically in the last few years.

Bought the from Amazon US last Nov 2024 for $550. So this is good for a local Amazon AU stock.

  • Thats not a bad price. About 3k for a decent chunk of redundant storage.

Nice drives but would rather buy the 22tb Seagate external drives for under $500 each and shuck them.

Great price and great hard drive. Thanks got one

This is Amazon AU so should be good, but I had a terrible experience ordering one of these through Amazon. Admittedly my one came from US, but someone in the chain took the connote from my 20TB WD Pro and put it on a 16gb USB stick. So Amazon tracking showed that I had received my hard drive. Since it came from US the price had also increased since my original order so I had to go around in circles for hours trying to get Amazon to honour the price difference.

After sorting all that out the damn thing died after 18 months of usage and I had to fight Amazon to get a refund.

    • After sorting all that out the damn thing died after 18 months of usage and I had to fight Amazon to get a refund.

why do you have to fight them?

is it not still under warranty?

      • Technically since it came from US it doesn’t have the same 5 year warranty as AU stock

        • Whoever told you that was totally in the wrong. Same 5 year warranty period except it's warranty from the Americas.

You shouldn't have had to have fought Amazon for any thing. As WD Red Pro models bought from the Americas have a 5 year warranty both OEM and Retail kits. Your hard drive had a 5 year manufactuers warranty which Amazon should have known. It's listed under the Americas section.

"WD Red Pro FFSX, FFWX, KFGX, KFBX, FFBX 5-year 5-year"

          • @hollykryten: Thanks for that info. Either way I finally got my refund but it was a royal stuff around
