Bose QC Ultra aren't as fashionable as Sony XM and Airpod Max.
Since Apple released their first expensive headphones, Sony and other brands have been leveraging on increasing their higher prices.
So, if Apple ones are $1000, Sony- we being market leaders and selling ours for $350 to $400 in the past as premium headphones, we should also increase the prices and now sell for $700 which is way cheaper than Apple ones and customers like us do fall for it and when we get them for like $500, we consider a bargain which is not the case usually.
Nevertheless, Sony headphones are great though.
Am I getting poorer or these prices getting crazier?
I agree with above comment. Every company think that if their quality is great, then why not charge Apple-like.
With their own ludicrous pricing, Apple is generating inflation in every item category they sell.
Dumb consumers actually believe consumer-grade Sony WH Headphones like this are top of the range in terms of sound quality.
It’s hard when dumb consumers look at websites that rate these things, because they haven’t the equipment at home to test them. And when these score higher than Focal Bathys at the one site that has tested both, maybe it’s not the consumers that are at fault, maybe it’s the dumb websites.

Still won't touch Sonys stuff again after my XM4s tried to deafen me due to the ANC module being faulty (a common fault looking online), which they also wouldn't repair due to it being 1 week out of warranty.
XM3 buds also has random disconnects the entire time I used them.

The XM4s routinely go on sale for half this price. $650 for a pair of headphones that aren't meaningfully different is daylight robbery
Contrary to the top comments on this thread, I actually appreciate these kinds of posts. I know they aren't a bargain, but I did not even know Sony was releasing the XM6 if not for this post.
And if I were in the market for one, the 10% discount would definitely sweeten the deal as I was already intent on purchasing.
Reading the comments, there is one user who went hardcore on trying to defend this price, i find it odd how many times he would try to respond to every comment that spoke about the price being high…
I do find this price very high, it is more than what i spend on the more esoteric "audiophile" headphones and judging from my older model Sony Xms, they dont come close to those headphones but one is wired and one is more about portability.
So I went back and checked the XM4 I got on release August 2020.

I paid $400
(JB HiFi, fluked it trying to get them to match some supposed Samsung Retail deal).

I'll buy these for $350-400 a couple months after the XM7s come out.
Until then, my XM2s and their lousy 4hours of play will have to do.
I guarantee you there will be massive hype from the marketing machine.. Then just before the xm7s release they will flag all the things that were terrible about these.. Fitments, connection issues, voice quality.. Happens every model.
I also guarantee you these are not worth 2x the xm4 price subjective objective or otherwise
My XM3 has stopped working, so I’m planning to purchase the XM6. However, considering the hinge issues with the XM5, it would be ideal to have an extended warranty. Which retailer offers the best no-questions-asked replacement policy for 3-4 years? I don’t mind paying a bit extra for it.

Grab the XM5, they are great. Still seems like they are current models, heck even the XM4 still seems to be sold (not discontinued).
Yep the XM3 has purchased in 2019 but I broke the arms on them (my fault). They did also offer me XM4 for $274.98 but decided to go for the later model - seems like I will have to treat them like a baby judging by previous comments. Can’t complain for the price though!
