I started 5 days ago and still haven't completed. That's fine. I still have til the end of January to grab that bargain :)

    Origin…. still not worth it

Wait… isn't this destroying their IP? Muppets

    • +2

How is it destroying their IP? If anything, it's encouraging uptake ahead of Crysis 3 - it's a great game for $1, so why the hell not?

And perhaps it's also an attempt to convince people to overcome their prejudices over Origin. Honestly, it is just not as bad as it's made out to be. If it weren't for Steam's annoying tendency to periodically remove non-Steam shortcuts, I would generally see absolutely no difference between Origin and Steam titles.

Edit: you can take the previous paragraph with a grain of salt… my ME3 currently refuses to run properly. Thanks, Origin -.-

Dude, don't take my comment seriously…. EA stated any 75% off sales affected their IP… therefor this $1 'promotion' is against what these hypocritical spastics had stated…

HOWEVER, this was the exact strategy I suggested for SimCity 4 on steam/origin. SC5 is almost here, and this would have given millions a chance to taste it before dismissing SC5 as boring.

HOWEVER HOWEVER… I will not be touching SC5 - the super spastics will not allow proper region building. I HATE EA SO MUCH

Ah, okay, got it. Context ;-)

I hate EA + Ubisoft equally in this matter because they keep packing their crap onto the console games.

Army of TWO needs some crappy EA account to play online. Doesn't actually give you anything more except you need to login twice (PSN & EA).

GR: Future Soldier uses uPlay for something, you get a store you can buy 2 guns from and a map (whoopdy do). If uPlay goes down, you can't play online. Lame.

There is no place for these on a console. We have a username and logon for the PlayStation network, why have another?

For PC, Steam works fine, it's been around and it's proven. There is already a huge community, but noooooo some CEO somewhere says "Let's reinvent the wheel". Problem is they make it with less features, more bloated and ultimately use it to maintain there own (high) prices.

        • EA console games that require login are multi-player heavy, if it didn't have it people would complain. Basically allows one console account to have 2+ multi-player profiles in games like BF and FIFA. Not everyone wants there brother or sister ruining their kill/death ratio.

        • PlayStation (not sure about Xbox) allows multiple PlayStation accounts on the console. All content (games DLC etc) can be used by any user on the same console. Brother or sister can have their own PlayStation account.

    • Anyone who has any interest in Crysis probably owns the game already so if anything this is bringing in new customers. Good idea seeing as Crysis 3 is coming out soon…

  • Thanx OP. For a buck you cant go wrong!

  • Now where is my 1 dollar Crysis Warhead

It's a great game indeed. I played the second one first (yeah, I know) and was impressed. I didn't get a few little bits of the story but overall it was great. The first one (obviously it's a little older) was different, but a great game. I think playing all 3 chronologically would be much better. For $1, definitely go for it. If you don't like it, don't worry about 2 or 3 :)

Even for $1, still won't be able to run this lol

      LOL…..

I still use the computer I bought in 2007. Seconds-per-frame here we come.

    • Probably not a good deal when you figure out that it will cost you $1001 to play this game :P

  • awww you beat me to it!

every moment you take down a pyongyang soldier a kitty lives

  • Cheers!

    • Hahahaha are you serious? Why would you expect a game to be free after five years? A couple of big companies like Rockstar (with GTA1 & 2) and EA (Battlefield 1942) made their games free after a a decade. This is certainly not common practice. E.g. try and pick up Diablo II under $20.

      • And Starcraft…

    • Actually it was free http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/81996 LOL

+1 for the heads up. I don't open Origin enough to realise there's a sale on.

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition is $5 from the US store. Managed to access it using the link http://store.origin.com/store/ea/en_US/home/ThemeID.718200/c…

    • FYI I tried to buy Crysis 2 via your US store link, it all seemed to go through ok but was "pending review" at the end. Then a few hours later I got a refund in my paypal. I'm guessing it's open to US users only.

      • Did you use a USA address?
My Origin sales history has a US, mexican, and now an aussie sales location.

      • I used a US address and while it did say it was pending review I got an email receipt within 20mins and it automatically showed up in origin. Just logged in to check and it's still there so maybe try again and make sure you use a (real) US address.

      • I had no issue purchasing using my US address with my AU credit card. Took about an hour for it to get through though.

    • Gave it a shot, being reviewed at the moment, hopefully works ta! :)

  • Does this version allow multiplayer online?
Does it connect to the same servers as steam?

    1$!!!!

    • oh Origin is like a steam layout o_0

  • Amazing price for an awesome game.

  • Great deal :)

Is anyone else having problems activating this game? Mine installs fine from Origin, but when I click PLAY it asks me to insert a disk. If I click the email activation link I get an error. Am I alone here?

    • +1

Installed but for some reason defaulted to drive C even though origin games are directed to my G drive - transferred all the files to G drive and couldn't choose play via Origin just wanted to re download in Origin. Edited the short cuts from C: - G: and tried to run from desktop link (using X64 win7 used bin64) - on first attempt it did not run blank screen then asked to insert disc. Opened the bin32 directory and ran 32bit - up came the email activation - used origin credentials and 32bit loaded fine. Tried 64 bit following and no problems since YMMV.

    Bought it.

Now I would like Mass Effect 3 to be $5 please :)

  • Does this work with the xbox controller?

    • +1

Yep, it sure does. It'll conveniently remap the controls.

  • I keep getting the message "Payment Authorisation Failed"
