  • SIMs are back on the menu!

  • Weird…

Lyca wants past-customers who meet this criteria? -> '$6 promotional price offer is applicable only for customers who purchases new online sim from 10.01.2025 to 31.05.2025.'

Lyca allow customers to turn-OFF & NOT-risk money-back claim? -> 'Plan Auto recharges every 28days.'

    • +1

I purchased a physical SIM under a new email and I was classed as a new customer, paid $6 tracked for $8 cashaback :)

      • NOT genuine 'New Customers', proceed with caution?

Ordering: supply address & credit-card details: name.
Activation: supply ID, eg driver license: name & address.
        There's an audit trial & check-able.

        • I can confirm I have approved cashback for a non-first timer purchase with a just different email

  • I would do 40GB

  • +4

Last time I purchased, never received the SIM and support never replied to requests for refund. Would avoid!

    • Happened to me as well. But after few months of waiting I called and talked to them. They refunded the payment immediately in PayPal account. Cashback was not honoured because I couldn’t activate the sim.

This was with the “$14 Cashback on 10GB 28-Day $7.50 SIM” offer for Nov 2024.

  • Dare I risk Lyca again seeing as it's TCB this time… anybody have successful Lyca payouts with TCB in the past?

    • +1

Yep, had one from 10 December 2024 paid out March, the $12.50 sim for $18.50 cashback offer.

    • 5-Nov-24 deal, I did: paid-out ~120d, followed criteria to the letter, pSIM, no-porting, genuine NEW-customer & 1st ever purchase.
Purchased via TCB-APP, proceeded to Lyca via Chrome, paid & went-back to TCB-APP…not visit any sites.
      Turned-OFF auto-recharge & auto-renew: RE-checked a few days later @ Lyca-APP & Lyca-DESKTOP…kept screen-shot.
      Reminder: pls read comments, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/875019.
Proceed with caution: my positive experience could be an outlier.
Imo, on 5-Nov-24, Lyca was still fine-tuning their system?
Apology for a long comment…novice do read these posts.

    • Yes have multiple but with different email address purchases

  • Why is this not getting upvoted. Issues with Lyca or cashbacks with Lyca? Want to buy but a bit sceptical with the low response

    • +1

      Lyca is absolute horrid.
      Past personal experience:
Bought 2 SIMs that never arrived, contacted CS only to be told dont worry sir we have escalated this issue and you should get it within 24-48hrs
48hrs later still didnt come, contacted CS back and got the same message again. After calling 3rd time I asked them d/w bout it just refund me, lo and behold only 1 was refunded. (In hindsight I got lucky I even got any refund at all?! 🥴)

Messy and definitely not worth my time even with the premise of profit SIM. If it doesn’t even arrive then it’s moot! I’d rather get the cheapest Boost SIMs after cashback these days no brainer.

Please don't take this headache with port in and out with this worst customer service. Read comments from previous Lyca deals.

  • Am not falling for this

  • Worst company

  • Oof. So much downvotes on past deals. Will skip. Thanks ozb community

  • +1

At this price I'm willing to take the risk. Worst case scenario if it doesn't track, $6 is still pretty good for 28 days of data and a new number.

  • After reading the comments I count myself as lucky… No issues with an $8 esim for an overseas visitor last month. Just had to remember to turn off auto renewal.

Note they are moving from Telstra network to vodafail I believe in the upcoming month.

    • Wow, thought they were already on Vodafone. Their network service has been really bad, can't believe it's Telstra.

    • @pw2002au @ronnknee Thought it was the other way around. Telstra to Vodafail

LycaMobile operates as an MVNO on the Vodafone 4G and 5G networks, which covers over 22 million Australians. Previously, LycaMobile used the Telstra network to deliver its services, however it made the switch to the Vodafone network in 2024.

      • Yes, both our comments imply that they're going from Telstra to Vodafone.

        • You are right with your previous comment that Lyca was already on Vodafone. I was meant to say the other commenter said Lyca is moving network next month but had actually moved about a year ago.

Lyca transitioned from Telstra to Vodafone around May and June 2024 according to this article.

When we bought the TCB or SB Lyca profit offer last year, it was on Vodafone network, not Telstra. I also use Telstra and Boost which seem better.

For anyone not familiar, Lyca's systems are absolute garbage, do NOT port in a number you care about. Activate on a fresh number, burn the data, let it expire.

I am considering avoiding this one just because even at a profit Lyca isnt worth dealing with.

  • Reiterating for ready reference:

I had read terrible reviews about Lyca, more so about how they renew your plan even if you set Auto-Renew to OFF.
The confusion being, there are two things: Auto-renew and Auto-Recharge. I turned off both and avoided being charged for second month.

I haven't experienced any of the above, and had just got Lyca for a friend - used this offer who came in as a tourist for 3 weeks. Did not get charged for the second month, after keeping both Auto-Renew and Auto-Recharge off.

  • Last deal tracked but Sim never came. Got refunded

For $6 with a shot. New Sim and number gets me a few coffees

  • Lyca sucks

  • +1

Bought Lyca in two separate occasions previously and both cashbacks were rejected, 100% rejection rate for me.

    • Via TCB?

      • +1

One with shopback and one with TCB

        • And both rejected? Damn.

  • +2

Do not buy Lycamobile sim, even if it worked for you previously, as it encourages them not to improve their service. An upvote is seen by them as being desired by ozbargainers. I never got my sim after multiple promises that it will be delivered and I considered myself lucky to be refunded.

  • Bought a Lyca Mobile SIM last month (new email, different payment method, same postal address).

Tracked in full. SIM arrived (much slower than Boost though). Currently sitting as Pending on TCB.

  • +1

made the purchase an hour ago, but it hasn't been tracked yet.

    • How bout now?

      • it hasn't been tracked yet, make a missing tracked claim.

  • When I click through the topcashback link to activate tracking, it takes me to another page with 10gb, 30gb, 50gb and 100gb. No 20gb for $6.00? Any ideas

  • +1

Negging because of the company, not because of the actual deal as you can get $2 profit if everything goes right.

    • Cannot opt out auto-renew/recharge at sign up
    • Max 5 services EVER per customer
    • Max 2 active services per customer
    • Slow speeds
    • High latency
    • Rude customer service
    • How would "per customer" be counted? Based on the details from the ordes, or ID used for verification?

    • Great summary.

    • @ronnknee, is this base on a current-sim: activation-date ?-> 'Cannot opt out auto-renew/recharge at sign up'

Can mobile-co force customers to auto-renew/auto-recharge?

      • -1

        Yep.

        • Weird…I just got confirmation from someone here who bought THIS deal, activate it a few days ago & was ABLE to turn-OFF auto-renew & auto-recharge.

          • @ab c: Auto-renewal/recharge are from the activation date. You can opt out after activation. By default, you're opted in at sign up.

  • +1

Be aware! 2 days still not tracked.

  • +1

TCB cashback now showing as $6, shopback $5.

  • mine still not tracked, logged a case. i have like 4 cases with TCB now some of it like over 3 months already.

  • has anyone who bought this deal actually got tracking from TCB? I noticed the affiliate link you click thru on TCB only lists the 10gb/30gb plans. it does not list 20gb/40gb plans. I suspect you can only buy those via the affiliate link?

  • No tracking yet bought esim on 19/5. Sim active.

  • How can this deal be expired already? It states as long as you buy before 31May.

    • $8 cashback element has expired. It's now $6 (if it tracks).
