@Nillionaire: True but most middle age men with family commitments no longer can do that sort of thing and most friends don't really get together that often yet alone playing games together. That's the sad truth. Doesn't apply to youngsters of course.
One day everyone will get there, different stages in life
I will at least for the modding scene to catch up in a year then I will think about it. By then it should be cheaper and more deals
I am going to try and hang out for the slim/OLED/v2 model, but… it's easier said then done :-)
Thats rubbish, some of the best phone deals re pre orders and look at the price of a PS5 vs release it has gotten more expensive.
You're out of touch, that doesn't apply to many products, for example the Samsung Galaxy S Series.
Galaxy phones value drop so hard. Most Android phones drop in price between 6-8 months compare to release. The deals you referring to are those Pixel ones which you sign a contract and then cancel paying penalty. Those restrictly speaking aren't proper deals but a loophole in the system, I'm talking about outright prices not playing with contract cancellations
For galaxy phones, the preorder deals likely the trade in deals from JB or signing up a new Telstra via Jbhifi contract then pay penalty. That's for the flagships.
Outright prices never cheap on release therefore there's no point if you do not need to "get thrilled" or hyped about a new product
what is meant here is that Samsung Galaxy pre-order deals are the best options to buy
I essentially only paid half price for my first S22 Ultra couple years back, and upgrading to latest S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra on pre-order, with doubling the storage every time, were 200 bucks one, and second free of charge.
Any guesses if MKW will be discounted on release? I've preordered the console only and need to decide whether to buy the game on preorder from Big W to use the last of the 10% off discount stacked with discounted gift cards
Unless a store like Big W drop it to $99 or something I don't think you'll see anything much cheaper. Of course, on launch day look around for the best deal you can find, then go to Officeworks and get them to beat by 5%. Reckon that is the best launch day offer you'll be able to get.
then go to Officeworks
They will have them for sale instore? I thought it’s online only for video games at Officeworks
TL;DR You could be right.
I believe they won't price match on preorders. I checked existing Switch games, the website lists Mario Kart 8 as "in stock" in specific stores with "in store collection" available. There is a number to call for a price beat, but the website says it doesn't apply to the online store.
Seems like they're making it an annoying convoluted process, could be more hassle than it is worth. I might be willing to call up and put the pressure on them purely out of principle.
Searching around online and here, appears you can price match over the phone calling the PBG number on the website, however I haven't confirmed it personally.
now $43 more expensive than HN deal
Seems to be cheaper than RRP at Costco too @ $749.99 for the MKW bundle
Anyone managed to pricematch anything pre-order from Costco at JBhifi (or Officeworks) in the recent past? Is it possible?
One way is to use this deal to snag in 15,000 EDR points (750 x 20 = 15,000 EDR points = $70+ redeemable for use)
Yes look at the last 3 or 4 iPad a16 deals. They do price match Costco.
Thanks
JB HiFi wouldnt price match Costco online. Didnt bother trying in store. Ended up preordering from JB using the 10% off in ultimate gift cards, effectively costing me $693 for the Mario Kart bundle Switch 2
Thanks
Was hoping I could price match at JBhifi and take advantage of the 20x everyday rewards points in a $750 gift card….
Yeah, it sucks not being able to price match with Costco as every other retailer has it at the RRP of $769 for the Mario Kart bundle so it's not as if you can just price match with another retailer. At least the discounted gift cards soften the blow somewhat
@merajaan: Yeah the EDR ‘discount’ is good
I Managed to do deal match the recent HN 10% deal at JBhifi as well - in addition to getting EDR points
Overall good deal that was
Need a deal on the non-MK Switch
Can you order this for pickup at Gamesmen?
There is no way im paying over $700 for a switch 2
Good to know, thanks.
Good news they are only $699.
Mario Kart is a digital code in this pack right? I would prefer physical.
Yes, it’s a digital download code in this bundle.
Anyone else find it extremely strange that it's sold out in pretty much every country to the point where people are mad in japan, yet Aus has had pre orders open since announcement?
Makes no sense to me that the Japanese are allocating more units to Aus than their own country!!!
Something isn't right…
I blame TimTams
The listing says ships 1-2 business days before release but the expected delivery is showing as 12 Jun on Ebay? Is that the case for anyone else?
Has anyone ordered from the Gamesmen's ebay store before and did it turn up on release day despite the longer estimate?
I once preordered The Last of US Part II via TGM on eBay and they only shipped express the day it was released. Many of us were pissed as it was an eBay Plus $49 deal. Subsequently obviously we didn't get it on release day.
Mine got sent out yesterday late afternoon (Wed 4th) and was expected for delivery today but surprise surprise it didn't come.
Auspost now estimates tomorrow June 6th but kind of pissed. They could have sent the console out earlier to avoid this issue, especially as it needed to be activated online first before it can even work!
Needless to say, last time I'm dealing with thegamesmen, i'd rather just amazon it or get it in store next time.
The point of not missing hype trains to me is playing with friends. I know all my friends and I will be actively playing on the Switch 2 post release for a good couple weeks and it's gonna be very fun playing together. Times like this where everyone's onboard the same train are much rarer now compared to our childhood.
