My last auspost delivery didn't even get an attempted delivery. My driver just marked it as attempted, and took it directly to the post office

      • Its usually safer, they get attacked for not handing the item over without id. Common with stolen credit cards or share houses. In my local area, there's at least one dog bite a week and one attack a month.

        • Driver didn't even come to my street

    • Upvoted you for that info! However personally I'd rather collect on day 1 at a brick and motor store like eb games & jb etc

  • +1

$1.85 is for additional consoles after the first. The Express Parcel price is $5.88.

Plus price jack over their usual price to give an eBay discount.

    • +1

The Gamesmen and a few other stores that I’m aware of have a higher price on eBay to cover the eBay tax. It’s not because to offer an eBay discount

  • +6

I wouldn't really say this much of a deal considering there's currently two posted deals that are 749. One at costco and one at kogan (which requires kogan first but you can easily sign up for a free trial)

And there has been other better deals too.

    • +2

I wouldn’t be taking any chances with Kogan over a launch console.

      • Agreed, If you're wanting something on release day with any media, Kogan is NOT the way to go.

Not even my Amazon copy of Zelda started shipping until the morning of the day it was released, for a next-day delivery.

  • +12

I'm just super impatient, if I can't go to the store at 9am on release day and take it home, then I'm out

  • +2

Pretty mid deal tbh, but it's still better than RRP I guess.

Cheaper at EB Games with discounted 7% off (free Macquarie account) EB gift cards - $716.05

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards

    • They are only allowing to pay the deposit upfront now and i cant see where i can use a giftcard to pay. Would I need to head instore?

      • +2

You pay the $50 gift card deposit in the payment screen. I did so already online for that very same deal via EB.

        $769.95
        (deposit $50.00)

You can pay the balance off instore on collection (what I'm doing) or prior to release instore (some doing that).

        • Once i enter my address the pay with giftcard option disappears and only leaves Credit card

          • +1

@Punka: Select click and collect. They allow you to pay via GC. The $50 deposit for home delivery probably only accepts a CC/DC deposit payment.

      • Yes, this is what I did.

    • @lucilleBluth wouldnt it be cheaper to get the TCN giftcards at 10% off as per this deal here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/902357 and then preorder the Switch 2 at either JB or The Good Guys?

      • +2

Yes it would be cheaper by ~$23, Nice find. The 10% off TCN GCs deal wasn't available when the Switch 2 preorders went live.

        But just something to consider:

        1) the need to go instore to hunt for/buy them
        2) only available in $50 denominations
        3) paying in $50 denominations x 15 times

Too much effort personally to save another $20 otherwise I would have done so.

  • still unsure what to do with S2 release

I have Switch Lite which I love. portable solid design, I have a great library of games that work great on it. sometimes I wish it was just a little bit more capable (Minecraft, Nier Automata) otherwise it has been a perfect take-me-anywhere device.

I don't have nor interested in any other handhelds like steam deck or legion go, or ROG or whatever, or phone or tablet gaming, just not interested

for something more impressive in 3D graphics department I got a Xbox Series X hooked up to a 65", and it's been super awesome too

S2 would give me more performance, but how much? and I would lose out on portability

would it replace Xbox connected to the TV? I doubt it

I think I need S2 Lite really, if that exists. not exited about S2 release so far all in all. what would others do in my scenario?

Posting your internal monologue on Ozbargain lol.

      • -1

        it's a question with a context, and it's a forum isn't it

      • +3

Haha, I started reading and just noped out of it. Way too many self answered questions and just generally hard read.

    • You don’t lose out on portability. It’s a Switch - just not as compact as your Lite but super portable. I’ve got a switch OLED and I’ve used it more in handheld than docked, and it has travelled with me just fine

      • Switch 2 is bigger in all dimensions and heavier

    • I think an S2 lite would be cool too, but I'm not sure they will go that small again unfortunately - I'm actually curious to know how the sales have been in Japan (both for the S2 and also the s1 lite) since they were always one of the biggest markets for game boys and similar due to playing them on the go so much. Maybe mobile gaming has taken over that particular requirement (eg on the train on the way to work) and the switch is more something they bring in a bag.

    • If you are not interested in the new gaming offers there is no need for a imminent purchase

      • yeah that's definitely not me. the amount of time I dedicate to gaming means that the games I already got will take me a few years to beat, by that time there will be something else super cool on sale. I don't think I ever paid full price for any tech or game, because.. well this xkcd explains it perfectly https://xkcd.com/606/ I live in the past lol I don't care about fastest greatest latest, because it's not about what you have, it's all about what you do with what you have

    • +7

Stay with your switch lite and stop looking at switch 2 deals, pretend it doesn't exist. You don't need it and you already know that but you're trying to find reasons to buy it because of FOMO.

      • yeah I guess I just like new toys lol thank you mate! don't feel like I'm missing out now

    • +1

The S2 emulates S1 games. Unless the game is ported with the intention of providing more performance (e.g. like the Zelda titles) there is no guarantee it will run at higher FPS or resolution than on the S1. Only reason to preorder would be if there is a good deal (10% off in giftcards) and sell your S1 ASAP, however a switch lite isn't going to fetch much on the used market anyway.

    • My two cents, if the game I want isn't coming out for months when S2 releases, I have no urge to buy it immediately.

    • hack your switch lite?

$754 for the new Mario kart seems a bit steep

    • +1

Remember when the PS5 launched with Demon Souls remake for $749!!

      • +1

$749 console only for PS5 price launch

    • +2

It is. It's overpriced. It's very standard hardware, not fancy weird stuff like Sony did

Nintendo just being a gouger. Must have been having dinner dates with NVIDIA.

        User name checks out…

        • +3

Would you like to borrow my username perhaps?

  • +2

Never had a Switch, but geez these seems expensive for what it is?

    • +3

Gaming tablet with 4k tv output, and novel controllers.

You could do very well for yourself with a Switch 1 for cheaper, but this one isn’t outrageous for what it is. (The game inflation stings a bit, particularly as it’s just Mario Kart, but if anything games haven’t kept pace with inflation to date, so we can’t be too surprised.)

Still a great video (and advice) after all these years:

    • +2

I made the mistake of not getting a PS5 at launch, had to wait a year until stock was available and by that time they had raised the price, they are now raising it again.

Looking online the switch cost the same as I paid 7years ago.

While this is unlikely the Switch2 will go up, it may not go down either.

  • It's so sad there's no midnight release for this.

  • we need a count on each ns2 post on how many comments are just 'reeeee my nintendies is so expensive now!!! sell it cheaper to me im ur no. 1 fan!!'

  • EB games better start price matching one of these deals or I'm cancelling lol

  • As expected switch sold out everywhere.

  • +1

Expensive to have kids these days

    • Tried buying kids shoes? Lol $139 for a shoe 1/5th of mens.

      • Just bought two pairs of shoes for $4 at Kmart.

        • They cause feet deformities. There is an art to making shoes which is why toddlers can't wear a real sole.

You sir just caused your son years at a podiatrist.

          • @Combo64: He rarely wears shoes honestly, and the saddles from Kmart have a cap on the front, are soft soled, and don’t squish the toes.

  • thanks i ordered with 5% off gift cards too. gonna cancel my cash back deal one, this is much better.

  • Was just thinking of going with this but then I saw the delivery times :(

    30th June - 4th July standard postage
    27th June - 1st July express postage

    hard pass.

  • I was going to buy a switch 2 but I never cared for switch’s portability and after seeing all the price increases and digital key cards that Nintendo is trying to push, I made myself another PC with second hand components instead for another room. This is coming from someone who grew up with a NES and N64 in the 90s and a GameCube and Wii in the early 2000s and loved it.
