Next week's upcoming Woolworths gift card deal! Nice that it includes variable load TCN Kids and Teen cards that work at JB Hi-Fi, so it's ideal for large purchases since most other offers exclude the variable cards.

  • I thought that was officeworks the teens cards.

    • +1

Ultimate Gift Cards, yes. Not TCN.

    • Officeworks is for grown-ups such as HIM :)

Waiting for restaurant card $500 🙏

    • Did you find any? I can only see $200 good food cards

      • Am in China atm with tripadeal. No luck here too sorry 😂

        • How good is tripadeal 😂

          • +1

@spiderbite88: Honestly pretty good. You develop some nice friendships along the way within the group, the tour guide is lovely and really helps us out with organising transport, navigation and speaking Mandarin since very few speak English in China. Just don't fall for any of the overpriced stuff they try to sell you during the tour. 9/10 thus far; bear in mind paying $1k for return flights and hotels plus some activities being covered is very hard to beat.

  • Time to stock Good Food card. Thanks

  • Can you use one card for multiple retailers?

  • I'm confused. Can someone clarify Is the TCN good food gc accepted at all Eating Places and Restaurants (MCC 5812) or Drinking Places (MCC 5813) as stated in the post or only in the list of participating restaurants on TCN?

    • +2

      As per the table linked

"The only officially permitted restaurants are the ones listed on the Good Food website operated by TCN. There have been conflicting reports as to whether this gift card works at merchants using MCCs 5812 and 5813 that are not listed on the Good Food website."

However you can swap it for the digital version that I can confirm in my experience works without issues on Eating Places and Restaurants (MCC 5812) or Drinking Places (MCC 5813)

      • Thanks. Appreciate it

With the TCN Cinema card, am I correct in thinking that it won't work for online bookings?

Cause it's an eftpos card and online bookings are via credit cards?

    • Would like to know this too.

    • +1

The version sold through this deal is a prepaid eftpos gift card that cannot support online transactions, so yes, that cannot be used for online bookings.

However, if you exchange the physical version for the digital Mastercard version,1 that digital version can be added to the TCN app, from where you can add to a supported mobile wallet (e.g. Apple Pay) and grab the card details in order to use it for online transactions.

      Keep in mind the following:

      • The gift card officially only allows transactions at merchants using MCC 7832 (Motion Picture Theatres). If the online booking system you use is using a different MCC, the gift card should decline the transaction.

      • The gift card is subject to individual merchant acceptance. For example, if the online booking system mandates any Mastercards to support 3-D Secure before processing transactions from them, you will be out of luck, because TCN Cinema gift cards are functionally prepaid Mastercard gift cards (and those cannot support 3-D Secure). I suspect a lot of online booking systems do not bother with these checks, but if the one you use actually does this, a workaround is to checkout via Apple/Google Pay (where available).

      1. Instructions on doing this can be found in the FAQ linked at the bottom of this deal's description

  • Can anyone help newbie here, is EDR points roughly worth 1 cent per point? If so, this means for every dollar I spend on those gift cards, I get about A$0.2 value back in the form of points?

    • +1

It depends on how you use Everyday Rewards points. For example:

      • If your redemption option is Money Off Shopping or Bank For Christmas, 2000 EDR points convert into $10 in Everyday Rewards Dollars that can be redeemed on most purchases at participating businesses (e.g. Woolworths, BIG W, MyDeal, Petstock). Using this conversion rate, 1 EDR point = $0.005 in Everyday Rewards Dollars.

      • If your redemption option is Qantas Points, 2000 EDR points convert into 1000 Qantas points. The value of an EDR point will then depend on how you value half a Qantas point. FreePoints has a comprehensive guide for estimating the value of 1 Qantas point. One option not mentioned on that guide is selling Qantas points on classifieds websites (likely due to that being against the Qantas Frequent Flyer terms and conditions): for example, if you sold Qantas points on the OzBargain classifieds at A$0.013 per point, 1 EDR point = A$0.0065.

  • Can I buy 2 x TCN Teen Variable gift cards AND 2 x TCN Kids Variable gift cards in the same transaction/day and still get the 20x Everyday Rewards points for all of them? Or is the limit strictly 2 variable cards total per day?

    • +1

That has worked in previous deals, but I have no idea if it works for this deal.

My suggestion is when you scan the gift cards at the checkout and then go to the payment screen, you should check the points counter (or the pop-up) on the checkout screen to see whether the correct number of points will be credited to your account. If the wrong number of points will be credited, you can ask the staff member to remove some of the gift cards from the purchase.

      • +1

Thanks mate, confirming this worked for me.

        • Can you confirm if all in same transaction or separate transactions for Teen and Kids

          • +1

@jobargain: i want to the cashier and she split in x2 transactions for me 1x teen 1 x kids and then repeat

  • Anyone tried add digital Good Food gift card on Shopback today? I just tested a 0 balance card and didn't work.

    • +1

I have not tried it today.

However, someone else tried this on 06 May and was running into issues.

      • +1

        Thanks for the info.

      • Just tried to buy Uber Eats gift card on Shopback via my remaining balance on TCN Restaurant Gift Card digital version (ApplePay) but didn't work.

        • +1

Of course it won't work. TCN has now blocked shopback on all their cards with the sole exception of the Good Food card. (Pub was the last victim and all other cards were blocked months ago)
And Uber eats gift cards are sold under 5814, which is not permitted with the Good Food card.

    • +1

      You can't, use ApplePay.

    • Bought Restaurant Choice card on Shopback yesterday without any problems!

    • It can't be added as a payment method on Shopback now, but it will work through Apple Pay as a payment method on Shopback. I learned this here see the comments

It's been a while as I remember this was discussed in previous deals, how do we use up leftover balances for Food cards? Do we have a list of restaurants that can accept part payment? Preferably ones with self-serve so there's no stare down for trying to use up $0.83 left on the card.
