just make sure you don't' eat Kelloggs cereal in the US https://www.bakeryandsnacks.com/Article/2024/09/27/W.K.-Kell…
I paid $4.86 ss in march price up again. Holding out for better deal.
i paid nothing because I only eat 3 to 4 eggs and one avocado for breakfast :D
It's only $0.54 more, treat yourself mate.
Can't do that I'll lose my ozbargain license.
truly SS+ tier cereal, up there with the likes of Crunchy Nut and Coco Pops
by Coco Pops, you mean chex right?
Chex format is ok… OG is best
Can eat 3-4 bowls of it at a time. 3 to 1 ratio to milk.
(profanity) I love chex. Crispix are good too. Great format.
Chex are disgusting, tastes nothing like cocopops and far from as good
@MrZ: Ages, and that's the other point, it imported from Belgium or Holland from memory. Why would you import cereal from half way around the world that's worse than the local stuff?
Agreed, all three of those sounds like a wonderful three course dinner to me!
I find the others are usually cheaper in the small boxes. Crunchy nut clusters 450g for about $3.20 with 10% extra off.
Back in my day (a few years ago) nutri grain was $3.50 for 805g when half price, all that iron man food has caused shrinkage.
Normalising dessert for breakfast is messed up - unless you don't have kids, then you do you
Power Grain from ALDI has 4g more protein for less everyday. A really good dupe too.
Good to know, I’ll also add the Coles dupe is an abomination. Will never forget the day my wife bought the Coles version.
‘They’re the same thing, but cheaper!’
Sometimes I think she's acting out on purpose. Don't know why she's trying to drive me away but l'm not going to budge. I'll love her through this. This is the raw and often ugly side of marriage people don't want to talk about.
I personally prefer the aldi version — it stays crunchier for longer in the milk somehow
Same goes for their CoCo Puffs, great taste.
4g more protein than the full brand?? That's insane, I'll have to check it out! Nutri-Grain has been the leader for decades in Aus
Not true. Sister went to buy power grain and said it was 14g protein per 100g. So it still has substantially less protein.
Tastes awful sadly.
Tried and it taste bad
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm talking about the Hillcrest-branded Power Grain.
+1 for the post description
That scream… Memory unlocked
Trevor Hendy?
Guy Leech?
thanks OP
Do people actually eat this every day? It's riddled with sugar.
I note it has folate as opposed to folic acid which is better for most people.
the folate is also cursed
Thats bad
No that would’ve crazy - I try to keep it to max 5 times a week.
Most cereals are.
Hard to believe. Although, every supermarket still has an entire isle dedicated to this stuff.
May as well take up smoking again and grab a pack of Winnie Blues to go as well.
They have way less than when most of us were kids, you could have saved the leftover milk from cocopops back in the day as a milkshake and it would have had enough sugar to make your vision blur, these days it's nothing like that
As a kid I used to eat the hugest bowls if this, I would guess 200g? 50g of sugar for breke is crazy 🤣
50g sugar now in my thirties washed down with a triple shot espresso is barely an eye opener. Sad times.
Only the vanilla malt. Just don't eat them raw or you'll grate your mouth.
Unfortunately as someone that is too lazy to wake up earlier and/or meal prep, this is usually the fastest and easiest breakfast option with at least some amounts of protein
Plenty of alternatives that are lower in sugar and higher in protein. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, protein bar/powder, canned tuna, smoked salmon, pre-cooked chicken breast.. even cooking eggs doesn’t take long.
I don't think anyone out there currently buying Nutri-Grain would consider canned tuna or a slab of chicken breast a viable alternative!! Yes, they have protein. No, it isn't cereal!
@PhilToinby: I was pointing out fast and easy breakfast option per the comment. Not economical and delicious haha. Though delicious is subjective.
I'd reckon the cost per serving on those suggestions are significantly more expensive than this cereal plus milk
Oats, brother. Three minutes and they're on the table
Where's the protein in that?. Also tasteless.
@Hunk: Add milk to bowl of oats night before. Bung into fridge. Am: take or of fridge, slice one banana directly into bowl. Bung in handful of Almonds. For sweet tooth's add squirt of honey. Literally 1 minute or less.
@Hunk: More protein than Nutri-Grain, less sugar, more beta-glucans and good stuff.
And I mix in a scoop of protein powder so it gets the protein above 40g too.
Also tasteless.
Decades of consuming food with high sugar content will do that to your taste buds.
If you played StarCraft, I kind of remember the Nutrigrain scream being very similar to the scream sound that plays when you click on the Terran training academy.
Nah, didn't play StarCraft. I just heard the scream on YouTube, sounds like an extended Wilhelm Scream!
YOU ONLY GET OUT WHAT YOU PUT IN!
65g of carbohydrates per 100g of product.
Surely this can be classified as dessert.
.. You're surprised that cereals made from grains are high in carbs?
lmao don't look at the breakdown of pasta, flour, or rice 🤦♂️
Last Tuesday I paid @ wool worth $ 4.75 ???
what size though
IRON MAN FOOD!
I remember trying this cereal as a child back in the 80s/early 90s and always being put off by how sweet it was. Have they changed the recipe since then?
Does it come with an Age of Empires CD
