My account got a free whole BBQ chicken, which I redeemed yesterday. They do have some great offers from time to time. I'd only gone there for the $5 1/4 chicken meal about a month ago.

$14 RRP for a charcoal chicken roll seems like a rip though, should include chips and drink for that price.

    • Me too, including the redeemed day :)
I never actually bought anything from them yet lol

    • Nice! I didn’t realise I had this free chicken sitting in my spam :) thank you

better than the $50 for a chicken meal the size of your palm, EJ is a bloody rip off

So is Macas but for some reason people keep buying, so they keep increasing prices. Supply and demand.

        • -2

Maccas aren't charging 22+ for a meal last I checked

@May4th: Meal of cardboard? I wouldn’t call a meal at macas to be equivalent to a meal at el Jannah but considering price and quality, both are expensive

            • @eeeee: I would put them in the exact same basket. my local EJ has some of the driest chicken I've ever eaten, calling it cardboard would be being kind. 14 is 60% of 22 from where I am

I did buy a $9 ‘large’ chips to go with it and was not impressed with the portion for the price at all. Agree RRP is too high, I don’t buy takeaway much at all anymore outside of these sorts of deals

should include chips and drink for that price.

      Which generation are you from?

      • The old one, obviously.

    • Me too, and my wifes account as well.

Always wonder what they did to the ones that were overcooked.

    • They give it as part of the reward.

I get nothing, just went to Hawa lol

    • Hawa?

      • Hai-wa!

        • Unfortunate that a Fuiyoh branch hasn't opened here yet.

      • Across the road in Granville. Much better juicier chicken and nicer seating. Not as good garlic sauce.

LeWrap is doing $5 wrap day on 30/May, heard it on the radio. For a moment I thought got the names mixed up.

    When they coming to Brisbane

  • Got nothing yet.

They do seem to have small chickens everytime ive had EJ.
Is pricey when it's a small feed

El Jannah is a horrible chicken shop nowadays.
Probably one of the worst there is now, such a fall from grace.

    • Worst is a bit much. For me, it's still in the mediocre, ‘why did I buy this?’ category. I should know better. lol

      • -1

worst bro, this wrap I've had coz work catered and it's utter garbage
frangos, hawa or your local Charcoal chicken shop is better than El Jannah

but all the habibi's in my area like the new el jannah lol

    • +2

I've always noticed that the chick is really dry whenever i've had el jannah. As well as that its always expensive. If I recall, for a half chicken meal I paid over $20. I haven't had it in 1+ year though.

    • The OG shop at Granville is not bad. Definitely not the best but not the worst either

Had one on weekend, and wasn’t great. For $5 it is ok, for $14 bucks it is a rip. Also $5 for medium chips and you get about 20 chips ain’t good value and all up cost close to $100 of family of four.

  • I was never a fan of El Hannah's or charcoal chicken. But $5 is 5 reasons to cash in

  • There’s a charcoal chicken place that has fresh chickens in the back, you can request one slaughtered at your convenience, it’s in Thomastown ( melb, vic)
Can’t remember which one tho but my dad always preordered food from there and it was nice, if hella over salted 💀

    • Based on the exhaustive review of available information, there is no evidence of a charcoal chicken establishment in Thomastown, Melbourne, that offers the service of selecting a live chicken and having it slaughtered at the customer's convenience.
The business the user is most likely referring to, or has a misconception about, is Ionica Fine Foods (also known as the 'La Ionica Shop') at 5 Lipton Drive, Thomastown, VIC. This inference is supported by several factors:

Location: The business is situated in Thomastown.
Fresh Chicken Presence: Ionica Fine Foods is a prominent fresh chicken processing facility and retail outlet. They produce La Ionica and Bannockburn chickens on-site daily, ensuring an exceptional level of freshness.

Supply to Charcoal Chicken Outlets: The La Ionica Thomastown plant specifically supplies "mainly charcoal chicken outlets and specialty chicken stores and distributors". This direct connection to charcoal chicken businesses could readily lead to the user's association.

Potential Misinterpretation of "Fresh in the Back": The high volume of fresh, daily processed (but already slaughtered) chickens available directly to the public at their retail shop could lead a customer to perceive these as "fresh chickens in the back" and mistakenly infer that on-demand slaughter is available.

      • Huh. Seems legit, thanks for the correction!

      • Thanks nAIthw

I used to get these chicken rolls for $8.50 2yrs ago, they're $14 RRP now? That's a 64% increase… I can tell you one thing, my salary hasn't gone up 64% these past two years. Realistic price for a chicken roll should be $10.

    • it's inline with colesworth price gouging!

  • It’s snack sized. It’s ok for $5…

Just had this. The barcode wasn't working at their counter so the girl taking the order punched in her staff code and gave it to me for 4 bucks. It came with Chips too. I don't think it supposed to come with chips but I guess with her staff discount it did.

I still have the voucher available on the app though :)

Shit wrap. Guess it depends on the shop

  • Had one, specified for leg chicken only, but the chicken was still drier than expected. The veggies were nice with the toasted wrap at least.
