10 Device VPN Plus - A$117.36/2 Years (70% off) + More @ ProtonVPN

180
Celebrating 11 years of ProtonMail Sale.

Navigate to the relevant pricing page of the service you wish to purchase, and (on mobile) it pops down from the top.

These prices are inline with Black Fridays prices last year. I'd you can afford it now and then, Proton stacks your credit, so you can purchase at least on those two separate occasions, but not more than one sub per special

Also worth noting you cannot subscribe to two services. If you need more than one service, Unlimited, Duo or Family are your only options.

Savings over 2yrs as follows

  • Mail+ 50% @ $4.09/mth

  • VPN+ 70% @ $4.89

  • Pass+ 50% @ $4.09 & $8.19 for Family (6 user)

  • Unlimited 38% @ $13.19 - see below1

  • Duo 25% @ $24.49

  • Family 20% @ $36.79

I've omitted Drive, Calendar & Wallet but they're also available.*

If you're lucky enough to have a student email, prices are dirt cheap all year round: https://proton.me/student

All prices are equivalent monthly cost in AUD (and subject to change based on the USD I imagine) for 2yr sub. requiring upfront payment. You'll pay more for 12/6/1mth respectively.

Changing to €/USD may save a few bucks depending on exchange rates.

[s]Personally Family is a great option for 2 or more users in need of a password manager.[/s]
This used to come with 6TB storage, 1GB mail, basic VPN etc. Or maybe that's all part of free except the storage.

For anyone who wants powerful Aliasing (send from aliasing is supported among other things), Proton owns Simple Login which it leverages. Annual Simple Login includes Pass+, but I can't be certain Pass+ includes Simple Logins Premium (yet, last time I checked they said it was coming). Grab yourself a cheap .email domain name eg. [email protected] (good luck getting any 4 letter domain, but I used something similar myself. You can use whatever you want I believe personally that .email domains are more likely to be accepted by services that are selective about what is acceptable as a registration mail domain. It's mail product is quite strong, the issue is with licensing (unless you're only using their mail service) otherwise every mail user needs Unlimited

Sadly no cashback.

If you're a new user, don't forget referral codes! Proton isn't the cheapest so it helps everyone out.

It's worth norinf that offshore data in Sweden doesn't afford you much protection as an Australian. As Australians we have no sata protection rights, or right to privacy of person outside of one's home, and we are the ones who are compelled to turn over the keys

  • it doesn't allow me to purchase it at this price using existing account, only 56%. I'm talking about VPN Plus

    • Fine for me

      • Do you login from purchase screen? It is strange it shows me 70% before login, but 56% after i login

        • Same, I just made a new account to get the 70%

        • You don't login. As per the question you have to create q new account .

If you had proceeded you would have lost whatever service costs less is my understanding of what I pried out of them at black Friday.
          .
You can have Pro rata credited. I've got 15% of my next pass renewal because I cancelled family because their UX is abysmal and got worse over time. It no longer works with Chrome on Android for me or my partner.

  • Benefits of this over pia?

    • +1

Proton is legitimately 100% no logs. The cooperated with law enforcement once to give all that they good in aid of tracking terrorism funds, and even actively gathering information, they could only provide a connection timestamp for the client endpoint. They got smashed over it and it won't happen again.

      • Maybe have a deeper look, they publish all law enforcement requests complied with, its way more than 1.

        • -1

I don't need to, just say that the 1 I refer to is 1 direct cooperation with an international agency. Of course they're bound by the laws of their country but and as I've said repeatedly you need to convince the most neutral nation in its planet that it is legally justifiable to bring to question and comply with Swiss law.
As I've also pointed out already, connection time and source ip of VPN connections…..

Now I know you think you're batman but you're nowhere near how bad a piece of fungus growing on vomit needs to be. Terrorism & unspeakable crimes against children, and being a member of the ECC& ICC, warm crimes, crimes against humanity, detonation of a nuclear device…

If these are your hobbies, and when you're not doing this you're on Oz bargain talking about VPN's maybe you'd be concerned. But id be concerned someone pathologically stupid is capable of matters to have to go so far as through all the red take for a breadcrumb

          • @parad0x: Sorry but your comment makes no sense at all. Anyway, each to their own using VPNs

    • +6

I don't know PIA features but I can assure you that they're not as private as they call themselves… There's a reason there's no cashback here … Proton will never monetise your information, deidentified or not.

110% cashback VPN's ? If you're getting that much, the cashback company is getting 200% - how many times do they need to sell your data to recoup the cost of the service ?

And not that it's terribly relevant to us, all servers reside on Swedish soil. Keeps Musk from showing Trump your Cat pic emails at least

      • Thanks, appreciate the insight

  • So they can bill in Aus dollars but do they do it from an Aus account? So, won't get an international billing fee on the Credit Card.

    • It LOOKS that way, which is new. But having not checked out I cannot confirm

    • But sign up for a Macquarie account if you make more than 0 international TX's, free account no fees

      • Yeah have got one but don't keep much money in it. Was hoping just to have it on my "main" bank account.

Anyway, never mind. No linux client for drive. Yeah I know about rsync but eh.

      • Required a fair bit of paperwork on my end to get Macquarie. I signed up to Up instead and didn't have the same requirement, so much quicker. Same deal for intl transactions etc.

  • I have about a year left on the VPN service I purchased during the last sale. If I buy this now, will it combine to make it three years?

    • +1

Yes, I did mention that part in there, but I know I mentioned alot too

      • thanks!

  • +1

Thanks @hamza23 I'm never good with the titles

  • Does the student account need to be in australia to use it or?

    • Unlikely

    • Let me know how you go? What do you have of you don't mind me asking?
I had a Uni Texas, didn't work for anything Aus but if I can dig it up Boom. Mrs is a teacher so she'd get password too. Make sure you notice only passwords is annually recurring at that rate, the others go up after 1yr

      • It works, but the promotional price is only 49% off at the checkout, not the 75% off when seen in studentbean.
Strange, maybe I need to clear my cache?

  • +1

For those who just wish to have an alternative and not use Google or other similar ones, Bitwarden for passwords, infomaniak for email ($16/year or so), same with K drive, 3.25/mo for 6Tb I think.

    • Yeh or Gmail is free, private hosting is $2/mth. You've got bananas this is apple's. They might both be fruit but they are not the same

      • +1

Gmail is not free. You are paying for it with your information.

  • If i have Mail Plus sub, can I purchase the 2yr VPN sub with the same account or do I need to create a new one?

EDIT: nevermind I've tried and you can not, need a diff account

    • Answeres in OP and comments above. You'll need a 2nd account or Ultimate

  • Thanks for posting parad0x.
I'd like to understand this better, where can I read up on it?

*"noting" and "data" typos, also Proton is Swiss.

It's worth norinf that offshore data in Sweden doesn't afford you much protection as an Australian. As Australians we have no sata protection rights, or right to privacy of person outside of one's home, and we are the ones who are compelled to turn over the keys

    • I've had troubke all my life with Swiss swede Switzerland Sweden, I didn't do well in geography and without GPS I wouldn't drive.

Only two typos? That's a new PB! I have tendinitis in my right thumb and have used my smartphone farm to much for everything the past 12mths. Thankfully I literally just unboxed my new (2nd) laptop!

I'm not entirely sure how to best answer that question… Well I can't point you to read what isn't there unless you read our privacy act (possibly "of 1989" - I can get back to you on that. What is it you want to read exactly? An article that says what I said but in a much more flamboyant journalistic manner with content and words? (I'm mocking myself if that isn't clear). If that's what you're after, it's certainly not something I have of hand or can point you to but let me setup my laptop and I'll be happy to dig some stuff up later tonight

      • Thanks for replying, and to be clear no judgments about typos or Swiss/Swede, I struggle with them all too.

This idea is brand new to me so I want to understand what it means practically for us, and if there's any things that can be done to better protect our freedom, privacy and security.

Anything you did up, even an overly flamboyant journalist take on a real event that happened, would help me I think.

        • Do yourself a favour, nothing against OP, but do your own research, Proton absolutely provide law enforcement information, they have a whole page of information.

          • @BatmanAU: Just IP and only for ProtonMail, as to comply with Swiss law.
VPN they absolutely do not and no logs anyway.

So if you create a proton account with ProtonVPN, and only use ProtonMail while protected, they will only hand over their own ProtonVPN IP.

            • @ozilicious: Yeah good luck with that

              • @BatmanAU: Not sure how luck is involved, especially with it confirmed several times in the past… But thanks.

                • +1

@ozilicious: I believe that they still require a federal court order from the most neutral nations on earth, to betray its values and people by forcing them into compliance with a side.

1, it's documented and there's a good reason why there is no 2.

            • +1

@ozilicious: Proton mail uses a bridge to solve the private key dilemma in a space where people prefer to send everything in plain text otherwise it would even be that much.

And why would I be offended, I ousted a deal I found. I'm sick of trolls Mike you running around here spinning absolute fallacy as absolute truth but it's only insults and attitude that follows when someone asks for the facts.

              @ozilicious I'm glad to learn I didn't spend my time for a sheep 👍

          • @BatmanAU: Sources or keep your know it all flat earth mouth shut.
Independent verifiable sources. Not your opinion

But my 1 whole page sounds like an awful lot of information. Is that your 6th grade homework tonigh?

  • So, Proton Pass Plus which used to be US$ 1.99pm is now A$ 4.09pm after '50% off'. Doesn't make sense!

    https://proton.me/blog/proton-pass-price-change

    • They actually changed to USD 1.99 and then once they integrated Simple Login with Proton Pass they increased it to USD 2.99 pm or USD 36 annually.

  • Looks a bit steep for just tricking Kayo into letting me watch the football while on holiday.
