okay
My gen 2 died recently and was replaced with the gen 3. I’ve had constant drop outs with it after years of rock solid performance from the Gen 2… May now jump on this Orbi deal but plug it into the smart modem to retain the mobile backup function.
Is this a good deal. I know i posted but really confused on all chooses. Currently running tenda 5mwc's atm.
OP thinks it was
Mkak is the OP.

$359 on Amazon.
Are these any good tho?
Link?, says $679 for me
showing up as $659 on Amazon for the 3 packs.
My bad, the Amazon model is RBK353 - but the thumbnail is identical to RBK763S…
This or tplink be5000 wifi 7 on ggc for $381
This is tri-band vs the tplink one being dual-band. I'd pick this if those were the only two options.
Had Orbi for many years. The first set started acting up, Amazon replaced them. The second set is being a bit dodgy so I ended up switching to TP Link Deco. So far so good.
Same for me. Had Orbi 850s for years… Now router needs rebooting every 2 days to ensure WAN speed correct. Looking to change but Orbi is probably the best for large areas/houses. It is a quality product I'd recommend over TPlink and others.
Openwrt may be an option for those who want mesh and have some old hardware laying around.

I was having issues with Orbi 750 for ages, then I updated the firmware manually to the latest version on the router and satellites and it works so much better.
For some reason updates weren’t auto downloading.
Also another random issue I found out recently is you should ensure your motherboard lan chips sometimes don’t update, and the Realtek drivers are notorious for causing issues like on my B550 Gigabye board.
I always check the app for updates but never got any. The other day a messaged appeared telling me the firmware was updated. I thought great, let's have a look at the release notes, low and behold it's been available online since February. Great, if only I had thought of checking for a manual update sooner! Biggest POS of an app. I have entertained the idea of switching to another mesh system but I've been using Orbi's since they were released and haven't had any problems with them.
For a 3 unit wifi 6 mesh system its a pretty decent price for orbi. Doesnt do 6E though, depends whether you care, would be a solid system for the price with good coverage. I have no experience with the orbi software but i was happy with my RAX80 for many years. We have tplink deco units, they are good too.
I paid this much for the 862S. This isn’t bad though. I used to have it before the 862S and it performed fine in a 4 bedroom home. It’s now in my partners apartment and she hasn’t had any problems. It even came with 1 year Armour Plus which is a nice bonus.
Seems to be a fair amount of negative reports about this model on reddit and whirlpool. Am ready to pull the trigger but the complaints worry me.
I had Orbi for years. Moved to TP deco. No regrets.
Would love to get this but my 8 year old Google Wifi Gen 1 is just refusing to die!
I'm in same boat, gen 2 here that occasionally feels sluggish but overall decent performance. I want to get a different mesh system but can't justify until this one dies or starts having problems. I main router and 1 access point.
Yeah I just do a reset every couple of months and it's trucking along fine.
Anyone using an Orbi mesh system in conjunction with a Telstra smart modem Gen 3 who can comment whether this setup works ok, or if the Telstra modem drags down the mesh performance?
I unfortunately still somewhat need the smart modem due to still being on FTTN.
Telstra modem drags down the mesh performance?
I am not entirely sure what you mean by that. If you mean signal interference, then you could just switch off the wifi on your telstra modem router and just use the orbi mesh as your wifi access points. If you want the telstra router also to be broadcasting wifi, then use something like wifiman to scan and set up both systems so they use non-overlapping channels/frequencies. If you're on FTTN, the only thing that "drags down performance" is sh*tty FTTN itself because even the telstra router is an overkill for the 100Mbps odd speed you'll get via FTTN.
I would suggest checking your address on NBN website to see if you're eligible for a free FTTP upgrade. You can even ask them to re-install the NBN device at a different spot in the house, and NBN will cover the entire cost, including wiring and all.
Here are couple of helpful articles I found in digging around these Mesh systems:

It is important to remember the Overseas advice shows the direction of other countries, with larger markets and more competition.
My telstra gen 2 modem refuses to die even after 5 years. Just takes 5 mins to reconnect when it reboots
