How will you get addiction to digital games then. imagine hundreds of games, one click, download and play it. Of course you don’t own it, even if you paid for it, there is no license key so you can’t sell it and we can remove it from library whenever we want but hey its digital game, that means no more searching on facebook for physical game that you play almost like free or at profit sometime like hundreds before you probably. Help Sony dream come true and go for digital. 1 copy per player.
Same as PC gaming now? How long has it been since you seen a gaming desktop with a disc drive or even a gaming laptop? Generally PC games are cheaper and you have the option to buy from G2A and Steam sales.
That’s thanks to constant competition between multiple storefronts, as well as the underlying threat of easy game piracy (unless it uses Denuvo) and the PC gaming community being so much more brash and mean-spirited towards everyone else but also somewhat more vocal and cohesive for negotiation than console groups, who often don’t care and just buys consoles to get the latest FIFA or Mario Kart.

The only problem is you are not supposed to use EBGames gift card to buy another giftcard but some stores don't mind it. At least mine didn't when I did it last time

Bought my PS5 two and a half years ago and never subbed to PS+ ever.
Only reason I have a PS5 is I buy games on physical media. As soon as that’s taken away from me, I’m not getting it.

If I like the game on console and it has an online component, I’ll happily sell my copy to buy the game for PC.
So far hasn’t happened yet, all the games on PS5 that I like don’t have an online component that requires a paid subscription.

No, the disc still has the game (in 90% of cases, otherwise it tells you on the box if you have to download it online), it just installs the game from the disc into the internal drive, which was a thing since the original Xbox anyway.
And I don’t play any games that require an internet download to be able to even launch the game.
You do realise that's not the real problem. Having physical means, cheaper prices, you can on sell and more importantly you have choices. Majority of people don't care it's not on the disc because it's been like that for many games for years, the point is the license is transferrable from one person to another through physical. Why do I want to buy a digital single player game at full price, complete it and never touch again? What a waste of $110. That's the reality for lots of people. If you are a collector, you haven't had full games on discs for years, discs don't even last, you will never own a game forever anymore. Physical is about pro consumer choice.
Depends on how you use… i’ve had ps+ extra for a year and gotten really good use out of it. Then been using game pass ultimate 3 yr which just expired early this month. Jumping back on ps+ deluxe with this.

Get a used PS5 and some second-hand offline games, and you won’t even need a sub.
I play mixed single player and coop-online. So wouldn't work unfortunately. Paid only a few hundred for my PS5 at launch when trading in the PS4. Still doesn't help when paying $100 for the privilege of playing online, knowing they will increase it again and again.
So just stop playing online games and save your money (and sanity!).
Or use cloud gaming services or your own computer for co-op games.

@nicholasv: Thats lucky and good if they had improved it. Long ago my card was auto charged for annual and they didn’t offer any refund stating i should have done better to avoid auto recharge. It was so annoying as ps showed its not auto renewing but some shit on web had triggered it 😡
If you have purchased a Playstation plus subscription in the past 14 days, then you can get a refund by contacting live chat here and then repurchase the subscription at the cheaper price. I just contacted them (I purchased 6 days ago) and they gave me a full refund, rather than pro-rata.

Some people in this thread seem not very impressed with PS Plus overall. I was planning on getting this for my son who currently plays Fortnite and nothing else (he has nothing else yet). Is the essential tier any good or do I need to go for "Extra" at the minumum? Are the monthly games available after the end of month or do they disappear?
The essential games are available anytime as long as you have "purchased" them during the month and stay subscribed.
Dont need PS+ for Fortnite. Its free to play online like Rocket League, Rogue Company, COD Warzon, Apex Legends etc. If you dont play other games online, save 100$ and spend on physical games that you can sell after you finish them.

Load of crap. These sales used to allow you to extend your subscription for a discounted rate. Now the only discount is if you upgrade to a higher tier. I have zero interest in these subscription services like GamePass or the higher PS+ tiers and I hate these attempts to push us all towards them.
