New Electricity Signups
$200

New Gas Signups
$120

Note - Users must also remain with the brand for a minimum term period of 75 days to be eligible for Cashback.

Edit: on my mobile and unable to copy paste relevant text… maybe someone could interpret this

Offer only for new "Compare energy" customers…I assume this means people who have not used shop back compare before as there is another term that says direct signups to econnex not valid

how long does the gift card normally take? i signed up during a gift card promo for econnex in march and haven't received anything

    • +1

90-120 days from date of connection.

I signed up 6+ months ago for 2 services and never got the gift cards. When I reached out to them recently they refused to give out the gift cards and just gave excuses like "you didn't click the right link" (I used the ozbargain link, I even sent them the sign-up confirmation emails).

I know some people have received the cards, but looking at the comments on Econnex's deal history, there are also a lot of disgruntled customers like myself.

Also beware that Econnex is known for paying for reviews (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/906854).

Not easy to get the gift card from Econnex. I signed up with their November deal to switch NBN providers. After 4 months, I still hadn’t received the gift card, so I raised a ticket. They told me there was a "technical fault" and asked me to wait for the next cycle (30–45 days). I waited, but after 45 days, still nothing.
Raised another ticket, was told to wait 7 more days—and finally received the gift card after that.

Will see how the elec/gas deal signed on Feb, shall due just next week. No confidence to receive without talking to them…

Yep same refused to pay cashback. Better off using friend and family referral.

  • +3

I tried signing up through them and wow what a shtshow. Decided to rsther just sign up directly with the provider and save like $80pm anyway so its still a win

  • Was that 75 days rule in there before or is that new?

    • New. 75d in this Deal. But this is through SB.
Econnex directly was 30, then 45..

  • $200 for power isn't bad but the plans being offered aren't always the cheapest from the retailer a good example being OVO Energy, sure you only have to stay 75 days & this is cashback not giftcards but hmmmmmm just hmmmmmm

    • Do you mean the plan has higher rates than going direct? Lasts time I looked, the OVO rates were the same via Econnex.

      • +2

no I mean there are other plans offered by Ovo directly with cheaper rates

I had to chase them up too, support was pretty useless. After my second call, which was after the 120-day mark, they told me to search for an email from [email protected]. Turns out it landed in my spam folder two weeks before the 120 days were up.

Folks just to be clear this is a cashback from shop back not from econnex, so you may have better luck than going directly with econnex or worse luck!!

Got it to sign up for $140 cashback from SB in Feb, first red flag is not being tracked, I then raise a review to SB, still waiting for the 90 days, don't have high hope on this.

  • Well I received the gift cards $100 and $200 from Karta last week for Gas and Electricity but the deal was from CR thru Econnex.

  • I have Powershop (Compare) in my history on shopback. That is a different thing right? Am I eligible?

  • +2

Guys this is not about gift card. You will get cashback directly from ShopBack. Read the caption

    • You might get cashback directly from ShopBack is more accurate

  • Just wondering, will I get charged the connection fee & disconnection fee? As some mention this is the charge for changing retailer.

    • +1

No. That's only if moving into a property that has no connection (or disconnecting it completely). Which is highly unlikely for most people.

      • +1

        Thanks for your reply.

  • It is only for New Users so if you have used it before you are ineligible.

  • Mine got tracked overnight, but I did it through the app.

    • Signed up yesterday night through app, no tracking yet.

      • +1

mine tracked via app as well overnight…

I guess in these deals you are always taking a risk if the cashback does not trigger through, so use due diligence and only switch to something that is cheaper or about similar cost to your current provider that way you will not be out of pocket much and keep the provider on their toes as well with your constant churning

        • Hmm… My broadband connection signup wasn't tracked also. @gotyourback, can you please help? All done through the app

          • @Zenny: I hope you took screenshots? I always do, just in case it doesn’t track.

          • @Zenny: Maybe cancel the new signup and go with the econnex deal? Not sure if there is a cooling off period for broadband signu

          • @Zenny: Hey @Zenny, cheers for the heads-up! 😄 Mind flicking me a DM with your ShopBack email and a quick rundown of the broadband signup? I’ll take a look and see what’s going on. Good call on keeping those screenshots too—always handy! 👍

            • @gotyourback: @gotyourback please check DM :)

              • @Zenny: Just saw your message—thanks for the nudge! I’ve checked your DM and will get back to you shortly 😊

  • @gotyourback: Hey mate, are we eligible if we have switched previously via Econnex (through TopCashback)? Cheers

    • Based on the terms and conditions, you’d need to be a new customer of Compare Electricity and Gas to be eligible for cashback. This includes existing customers who move into a new property. However, if you’ve switched through Econnex before or if you're an existing customer switching plans at the same premises, you wouldn’t be eligible for cashback.

Let me know if you need any more info! Cheers! 😊

      • Ah that sucks, no worries. Thanks mate!

      • Seen this deal pop up again today,

When is someone considered a new customer or otherwise what is the minimum exclusion time to be valid for another round of cashback?
