Gerry Harvey is a visionary who successfully lobbied for GST tax on imported goods, a move that has protected aussie retailers. Trump wishes he could be more like Gerry.

      • Ozbargain members used to buy online stuff up to a grand without gst. Little love for Gerry overall.
I think his little readhead is the one from a bankers family pulling the shots….

If you want to save money overall, get MobiPOS from the app store, buy yourself an iPad and setup your own custom POS

Use Stripe for transactions as the fees aren't ridiculous like Stripe

    • It's not that simple. Things like chargebacks and other things are taken care of by going this way instead of a custom POS - at a higher charge yes. Not a good first idea though.

    • Any modern smartphone can act as a merchant, just a little slower. OP's hardware is fine for store owners.

    • Use Stripe for transactions as the fees aren't ridiculous like Stripe

      https://stripe.com/au/pricing

      1.7% + 30c for domestic cards

      Square's fee is 1.6% - https://squareup.com/au/en/payments/our-fees

There is no way where Stripe is less ridiculous than Square when it comes to fees.

  • If I go for Square register, can I attach integrated EFTPOS from another provider to avoid ridiculous Square transaction fees ? If yes, what is the integration software ?

    • If you process more than $250,000 per year we might be able to create a custom package for you with both custom priced software solutions as well as processing rates.
