Best Value Subscriptions in Australia – What’s Actually Worth the Money?

Let’s break down the subscriptions that are truly worth it financially for Australians. Whether it’s for shopping, streaming, food, or finance – what do you pay for that actually saves you money (or delivers serious value) over time?

Some ideas to kick it off:

Amazon Prime – Is the free shipping, Prime Day access, and streaming worth the $79/year?

OnePass – Free delivery at Kmart, Target, Bunnings, and Priceline for $4/month – good deal or meh?

ShopBack/Cashrewards – Anyone here saved heaps through cashback?

YouTube Premium / Spotify Family Plans – Worth it for ad-free or family sharing?

Choice membership – Anyone use this to save on major purchases or for consumer protection?

Costco – Is the $65/year membership worth it if you only shop a few times a year?

Subscription boxes (like Good & Fugly, Who Gives a Crap) – Eco and budget-friendly, or overhyped?

    • Thousands, really? Didn't realise xbox game pass cost $200 a month

      • 3 games a month ($100s worth) over 36 months = $3600 - 90 dollars subscription = $3510 in savings. Really.

  • Prime and Itune Match

Costco is worth it for me at the moment with kids that are seemingly always hungry. Main purchases being eggs and meat. Only problem is having to deal with the fat bogans that frequent the place

I have Costco too. Get the eggs, cheese, and tomatoes, pasta sauce in bulk. Me and the wife call the other shoppers with their 12 slabs of soda the Wall-e’s.

Real Debrid is great. Also currently working out the best IPTV.
Apart from that, nothing is worth it.

Total costs ~$100 a year probably.

    For youtube, smartnexttube and revanced.

  • A year or so ago there was a VPN deal on ozbargain for about $6 for 3 years. Sailing the seas and watch/listen to anything I want.

I do the free trials for streaming when they have them as sometimes thats easier. But most of my friends share the logins anyway.

Coles and woolworths free trials are good when I need delivery. I had a few knee surgeries over the last few years so they were a blessing.

My Shopback just hit over $1000 today!

Costco I'm not really interested in, but I believe you can just get a friend with a membership to get you a gift card if you want to shop there without signing up. Maybe that's changed now I don't know.

Also not interested in Onepass but I think I did the trial once for a free delivery.

I have Amazon Prime I pay for. My first year was free with Optus. I share with my folks and use it for free delivery at least once a month.

I had Uber one free trial for a while but not worth paying for as I like to cook or go out with friends for meals. I currently have the 1 year free DashPass from Amazon which I don't use often but good to have.

My OneDrive free has 205GB and is 14% full.

I have the old free Microsoft Domains setup for my domain email address. Because I signed up when it was free I never have to pay. I think I save around $9 a month.

Xbox Live core. I do Microsoft Rewards daily and always have enough points every 3 months or so for another 3 months.

I'm currently looking out for a cheap YouTube Premium deal.

$6 for 3 years of vpn sounds awesome.

      Who is it with?

I went back and had a look. It was $1.40 for 3 years total with Avast. (I was thinking it was per year thats why I said $6). But I checked my Paypal transaction and yep thats all I paid.

        • Also I checked the DashPass is two years free with Prime. Even better!

        • That's awesome value.

Previously paid for 3 years of Windscribe VPN (think circa $20-30 for the full 3 years).

Good to know good value options still exist.

  • Its all about what you use. I have
    - Prime which I think is worth it since I use both the delivery feature and the streaming service and I got the free 2yr Dashpass which I used alot as a new parent
    - Onepass ($20/yr) - so much easier to just order it than go into Kmart/Bunnings and not be able to find the item I needed
    - Woolworths rewards ($35/yr) for big 10% shop we normally save >$20/month
    - Disney plus - NBA
    - Coles on a free trial which I'm still deciding if worth it
    - Costco - worth it as we do use for family get togethers (platters, chicken, cake) and the occassional foodcourt hotdog. Plus its on the way to work for one of us so we refuel the cars there.
    - Gym - worth it because I don't enjoy running outside in the dark during winter and I don’t have a floor suitable for a treadmill or weights
    - Netflix on and off depending on what new content they have.

  • I have Onepass, Amazon, Disney+, Netflix, Kayo, Google On/ YouTube Premium, Optus Sports, Office 365.

If I can only keep one, it'd be Google One/ YouTube Premium.

  • Costco for me

actually a signature member worth every cents

last year alone I got about $200 return so the membership is better than free

  • Amazon Prime, Spotify Family, My Muscle Chef are mine

  • Cancelled Disney, when the content turned to crap.
Cancelled PSN+ (was a waste, never got around to playing anything)
    Still have Amazon Prime,
Netflix, Spotify and iCloud+ from Turkey.
Cancelled YouTube Premium India due to too many sponsored adverts, and use SmartTube
    Stremio + Realdebrid
    O365
