Dune 4WD 24Ah Lithium Power Pack $199.99 (C&C/In-Store Only) @ Anaconda

140

Pretty cool little device - I don't have one but reviews seems like a great price when compared to the Kings one ($499) and a quick search an Aliexpress.
Can run your fridge, lights, electric reels.

I'm purchasing to replace a LiTO aliexpress one with a cig lighter outlet i bought a while ago.

Great for the campsite to run lights if you don't want to plug into the car or whatever.

don't forget to use amex offer for additional $20 off if you are eligible for it.

Wow, it has manually selectable voltages for its DC5521 output (12V, 16.5V, 20V and 24V). That is a unique feature for this type of 12V battery product.

    • +1

it also has a screen and wireless charger.

wireless charger is dumb imo because who wants to charge the less efficient way when you are in the outback camping. 😂

USB-C in also gets 80W max on the Dune 24Ah. Kings 24Ah only allows 45W max. only if you buy the 36Ah Kings do they give you 100W USB-C input.

The correct comparison is with Kings 24Ah powerpack.
    https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/24ah-lithium-portable-power…

The Kings 24Ah is frequently available for $150 from their ebay store as long as you click and collect.Postage is too much.

The Dune 24Ah is a more premium product and was always too expensive costing upwards of $300.

However I would say its worth buying at $199

    • Pretty obviously from the same factory with mild changes.
BTW someone cracked open the Kings version and found a bad flaw with these - they cheaped out and did not spend the few cents it would have cost to add conformal coat (waterproof) the internal PCB board.
This is kind of unbelievable, given that the product is for camping. It means that even small amounts of moisture or condensation could wreck it.
Conformal coating is standard. Even a $10 electrical product would usually have it.

      • surely you can you coat the board yourself?

        • +2

Sure, I have a can of it but its bizarre to me that they left it like that. Kind of guaranteed redundancy for the future.
Maybe the better specced Dune version has the coating?

        • Warranty?

    • Kings 36ah was $251 recently. All of these probably come from same factory in China.

      • +2

I used to source products from China, you would be surprised how many identical or almost identical products DON'T come from the same factory. Often there can be many different suppliers.

    • Looks like the Kings one comes with a light for $168.95 https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/24ah-lithium-portable-power…

      That's seems a good buy…

      • honestly always thought that combo was bad value. because the power pack itself has a big light on it.

  • Nice find, but for an extra $100, I'd go the EcoFlow River 2 Portable Power Station. Slightly less Ah, but is a better brand for power solutions (IMO), 5 year warranty (not 1), has a pure sine AC inverter (300w), 3000 cycles (Dune doesnt mention, but Kings version is ~1000 to 100% dod) etc

Much less portable and only if you need AC.

      • Is it?

Both have carry handles and size and weight is comparable.

        Ecoflow: 245 x 214 x 142 mm & 3.5kg
        Dune: 280 x 245 x 94 mm & 3kg

        • +2

For the Dune, those are the package dimensions.

          The Manual for the Dune has unit dimensions: 226 x 165 x 76mm, 3kg.

      • for anyone else reading. I also read about AC inverters in power stations and if you forget to turn the AC power off even with nothing plugged it will drain the battery overnight.

so yeah should only really get the AC model if you are using AC. otherwise DC power pack is more efficient and no drain.

also if whatever AC device you plug is low consumption, the AC inverter can be consuming more than the actual device you power. so small fridge only maintains cool using like ~15W every hour, better to buy a DC power pack and DC fridge. otherwise AC is just wasting power.

    • Slightly less Ah

specs show the ecoflow as 30ah

      • +2

Ah means nothing without nominal voltage.

        Dune stores 307.2Wh of energy
        Eco flow 256Wh

      • It literally says it in the title on the item page. "EcoFlow River 2 Portable Power Station with 300W AC output & Built in 256Wh (21Ah@12V) Battery Black 256Wh"

        • +1

says it in the title on the item page

yeh i'd generally default to the spec sheet for accurate numbers but clearly the wh figure tells the lie

          • @0jay: Yeah I agree.
But I've also seen so many spec sheets that are copy pasta without changing on things like lithium deep cycle batteries too.
Sometimes I even need to zoom in on the item, or box if its shown on the listing to see what it says too.

            • @AmperSand: yeh it is a mess, no doubt.

often times with rebadged generic gear it's hard to trust any of it anywhere (you never know what you've got until you've had a chance to give it a stretch).

    • Anyone find this in stock anywhere?

  • +3

FYI, 307Wh. The only capacity number that matters.

  • I have the Kings 12Ah, but was originally waiting for a price drop on the 15Ah Dune because it had some extra capacity.

it randomly just went out of stock all of a sudden. showing $229 and wouldn't restock, only place selling was random 2nd hand ones on eBay. so I went with the Kings instead.

still no new stock in AU on the 15Ah Dune model.

  • It shows the price $499?
