I can’t see a deal for this. YouTube Premium Lite removes ALL ads for videos (except for music vids). It also doesn’t have the download or background play features.
If you just want to remove ads for non-music videos it’s a good, cheaper option.

My Kazastan subscription just finished a couple of days ago - thanks Google! I thought I was onto something and wasnt experiencing ads because I hadnt closed my browser yet! Brave rules! whats the point of signing up to premium?
The anti ad blocker window has been popping up on Brave too lately and I could just click X to close it but just now the X has a timer on it…

Used to be a premium subscriber till they upped all pricing. Have been using the Brave browser that remove all ads not just YouTube but most other sites and never looked back. Try it, you will be amazed.
Used to have this subscriber, but they don’t have PIP on ipad and started showing logs of ads (supposedly lesser than no subscription), them i stopped paying them just use brave browser, or safari + ghostery ad blocker and it works great.
I believe Premium Lite was briefly available last year, which offered “fewer ads”. But they have recently relaunched it with no ads on non-music vids; so the offering is now clearer.

it was targeted and from what I heard a failure in europe so they just shut it down there and started working on the version in the deal.

tbh I noticed this wording with other services, but those ads when you search or browse aren't technically pause your video and force you to wait for the skip button video ads. they are most likely banner/image type ads that appear as you browse (scroll).
I don't pay for youtube and when using it do so without an account, so I get these ads when searching. at the top of results it's usually a ad for Google chrome.
I have a feeling it won't be a banner ad for Shorts though. since you are actually watching a video I think you will get a video ad.

The only reason I’ve got it now is so we don’t get ads in YouTube Kids. Speaking of enshitification, had to sign up with a completely different google account to get the option, wouldn’t let me do it with the account I’d been using for years.
It should be like Netflix kids where it doesn't show ads on kids profiles at all (even on the ad version on Netflix)

Google is freedom. Its open so dont have to pay for youtube, spotify, having all movies and tv shows in 4k streamed via stremio to google TV. I wonder how much people pay for 10 different streaming apps they barely use 😂

It’s not open, nothing about Google is open. They allow certain things, but overall their platforms are simply methods to send you ads, as Google is an advertisement company who’s primary care is getting as much data from you as possible, and sending as many ads as possible. Google is not freedom, it’s constrained advertising platforms, with a service buried under it all, that’s barely decent.

Is there a trick to running this but still have useable speeds, as it limits the servers u can use with the free account, I installed add guard vpn set it to use ad guard dns but the speed drop i found was from 100mb to barely 1mb, does work though and gives you the YouTube app no ads
I was happy paying ~$4 per month for YouTube Premium but they cancelled my subscription.
Now I use Brave and Smart Tube for no ads and no paid sponsored ads.
I pay nothing. So thanks to Google I am saving $4 a month and still getting ad free YouTube.

For any Argentinian or Turkish refugees in this thread, this is how much YouTube subscriptions cost in India using in-app purchase from the YouTube app on an iOS device. You need to have an Indian Apple Account and fund that account with Apple gift cards from Amazon India. Paying Google through Apple feels a lot less precarious since Google only gets anonymised payment info from Apple, not ID or location details.
