Ozito PXC 18V Brushless Compact Drill Driver - Skin Only - $49.98 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

620

Was looking for an Ozito Brushless Impact Driver and stumbled on this instead.

Seems quite cheap — comparable to past deals for the brushless drill driver. Bit odd that it's marked as a new product on the Bunnings website, but already this well-priced.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Bunnings sell the Ozito Brushless Impact Driver as a skin — only available as part of a more expensive kit.

Could be handy for anyone already in the PXC ecosystem or after a cheap brushless option.

Wish they did a compact hammer drill.

    • +2

yeah was just going to say this is the normal price, so what's the bargain??

      Aldi.

  • +3

this is the 10mm plastic chuck bullshit ikea build spec model

Pretty sure I have this one - went from being abused restoring a vintage car (wire wheeling, drilling out spot welds, etc), to cleaning the shower while getting wet to now retired and running my coffee grinder. It’s about six years old and indestructible, not at all shit in my experience.

i'm not disputing any of that

but for the same price i got the 13mm steel chuck brushless model

i've used my $20 XU1 cheapo drill for a whole raft of things not recommended but would i say this is a good one to buy? lol no

The UX1 is pretty good for DIY. Much lighter and more ergonomic, so great when working overhead.

        • Would you have the model number of the 13mm steel chuck brushless model? Looking to replace an old drill and this sounds like it might be a decent replacement for around the house.

        • Of course if you can get a sturdier brushless for the same money it’s an easy choice, but for what it’s intended to do it will suffice.

  • 0738790 is the item number for the brushless impact driver skin.

  • Will this work with the $20 battery deal from last month?

    • +1

      Yes

  • I wonder what the quality is of a $50 impact drill (that isn't on special). I think you'll be buying another one in a year.

    • +1

I’ve had mine for 5 years, granted I only drill a few times a year.

  • Is it possible to drill a hole in a masonry wall 🧱 with this one or would you require a hammer drill for it?

    • +2

Would be pretty difficult without the hammer function. You will need a masonry drill bit as well.

I have this drill. Got it from a bundle of Drill + 2.0Ah battery + fast charger for only $49.98 last year.
This drill is great as a back up since it only has a 10mm chuck & no hammer mode. However it is also quite lightweight so very comfortable for some quick fixes, building furniture & overhead stuffs. I ended up using this one more often than my heavy duty Makita hammer drill.

This is the cheapest and most lightweight option. Only 10mm keyless chuck and suitable for lighter tasks. Not being brushless is a bit of a problem in my books - I wish I did not cheap out and spent a bit more money on the brushless versions of the drill and impact driver. (Edit: The model you link to is brushless - so all good there.)

  • It's Marked as new because this is the new Brushless model.. Usually the Brushless models is more expensive but in this case it's the same price as the normal model, so that's the bargain.

  • I recommend getting this for lightweight duties (only). It's 40Nm max torque but feels a bit like $50 worth so not really a bargain.

The $25 Ozito 60Nm Brushless Hammer Drill bargain was a better all rounder.

But it's still brushless with 21 torque settings, 2 speed gear selector, a responsive trigger for screws. Weighs 0.8 kg and suits the 2.5aH battery well.

I think together with the non bargain Ozito 220Nm Impact Driver and a corded Bosch Hammer Drill for more serious jobs this combo handles most situations for me.

    • TLDR:

Fine for lightweight but not versatile enough as an all rounder.

  • got one, was after a brushless drill driver, need to do a flat pack kitchen and some plaster board screwing, have hammer and rotary hammer dill already but find a lot of work just needs a normal drill. they had an 80nm drill driver but that was $89, and heavier, might wait until it’s on special. they had a lot of brushed drills that looked the same for $49, so check the box for brushless as they look similar plastic molding, they had about 20 of the brush versions, only 2 of the brushless left.
