    Good deal!.

What would the price be if you could apply the government rebate for home batteries to a power station like this lol!

    • +1

It would be 370 dollar cheaper for that one kWh

  • +6

I’m in the market for a power station. What advantages does this one have over a Small Modular Reactor?

  • +1

Actual manufacturer here for anyone that's interested: http://www.topbandpower.com/Product/detail_63.html
    Also note, weight is 15kg

    • -1

This link shows a different peak output power, only 1800W

      • -1

It also shows US plugs in the photo.
This is the base manufacturer - specific details are customisable with each order.

  • Is 1200w bit too low ? Is it good for a fridge to run for couple hours?

    • Depends on starting surge wattage of compressor - it may not be enough for family sized fridges

      • +6

It has peak power of 2400W that should be enough for initial startup. Most fridges consume ~ 400w after the initial surge. Also, the ones with inverter won't draw power constantly but only intermittently, when it's needed.

Most fridges have kwh/year consumption figures on them. My fridge consumes 463kwh/year, and based on that figure it would run about anywhere between 10 - 20 hours from this 1.2kwh portable power station.

        • +1

Peak power of 2400 will do it yes.
Running consumption should be shown on the sticker on the fridge body somewhere. Usually silver and at the back or is some semi-inconspicuous place

          • +3

@King Tightarse: and as I have found out with 12 V and 240 V appliances as well as 240 V inverters

and power stations, best to calculate 10%-20% buffer at least into the equation.

Your power station will thank you for it lasting a lot longer.

    • +1

I'm also curious. This review says it will last 10 hours hooked up to a large fridge apparently

      • +2

That's conservative figure and I would expect more, if the fridge has good inverter and insulation.

        • +3

I have a new power station almost double the capacity, and tested running a large 2 year old upside down

fridge freezer Kelvinator, and it will run it for around 24 hrs in medium temperate conditions (tested twice).

  • +3

"Infinite power" in the ad is a pretty big call.

  • Thanks OP. Got one for camping. Hopefully it will be delivered before the weekend. 😉

  • +1

    Ooo good deal.

Wish these power stations would offer an Anderson or xt60 plug for direct DC output as well, they only seem to have them for solar input :(

    • What voltage and amps are you wanting from DC output? This one does 12v 8a out of the cigarette socket and DC5521 port and the USB C port does 20amps at 5v. Pretty easy to get Anderson plugs and XT60 adaptors for all these ports.

      • +1

Mainly 12V for the camping fridge.

Have had a couple close calls with cigarette sockets and camping fridges, they don't make the best connection and can be unreliable.

The DC5521 would probably suffice i guess. Just another plug id need an adapter for.

        • +1

Agreed. I travel with a decent permanent dual battery set up I build myself.

The Power distribution box has a lot of outputs, but again the single max dc outpot is limited to 30 Amps

and total max to only 40 Amps. This is not enough to run my 12 V grill or 12 V air fryer (both use 22-25

Amps), so I customised a powered battery box adding extra Anderson and solar charge controller just to

be able to safely power these appliances and be able to re-charge on the go.

  • +2

Any issues using these as permanent UPS for expensive electrical equipment.

Just bought one of these. Heres my experience. Took it on a 4 day camp with 200w solar. First night from 100% I used gazibo lights projector for 1 hour, tablet and 4g dongle + powered brass monkey fridge to full battery as it was low by the end of the day. Next day it was at 54%. I was hoping the solar blanket would bring it back up but I'd say 50% of the day was overcast and short June days I ranged between 9-120w input and powered fridge during the day to full charge cost me 60-120w out which brought it down to 44% by end of day 2. On the second night I left the fridge off and powered only the pojector for another footy game. And by 3rd night with fridge charged again I was down to 10% and we had to boost with a car battery. By the last day I was down to 2% to keep the fridge going. The performance was good but only lasted really 1-2 nights and I skimped on the gazibo lights and powered phones and other devices from other power banks to save power. If it hadn't have been overcast or I had 2 solar blankets, I may have reached some sort of ballance. All in all cool device, I'll be grabbing that second blanket for the next trip.

    • Thanks for the insight. Maybe 96Ah is just not big enough for a week camping trip. Might go for 200Ah and a battery box instead.

    • +2

Wow sounds like an cool but elaborate set up for camping.
Just remember that you lose about 20% in DC to AC conversion. Also the keep in mind that running a fridge at sub optimal temps will have a significant effect on the power consumed (Goldilocks range 5-0 C) and lastly if you are recharging from the car cig socket the most you can get is 8-9ah. You better off running cables directly from car battery to solar input.

      • Thanks for the info regarding the power loss and car battery input. I'll make those changes for next camp. I run it at 4-5 deg but it is QLD so, still not super efficient I think with the hot days and it did raise up to about 9 degrees when it was on low power. So If I try and maintain that a bit better it should be more efficient, good to know!

For those asking about the fan, its pretty quiet. You could sleep through with it just outside a tent and like others have said, I've only noticed it while its charging and not always running even when on charge.

Solar charge is direct input with cables included to connect to anderson plug. Device charges and powers at the same time.

      • It should not make any noise if only powering 12 V DC at night, unless you are somehow charging via 240 V.

    • +1

I have one of these, it lasted 7 days on a 30l dune anaconda fridge set to 0c. Granted the temp in Melbourne was about 4-15c and this was in the garage. (About 3 weeks ago)

I ran the fridge on eco mode, and it was drawing ~40-60w when the compressor was on.

I tested both my older 3 way fridges, @12v, one drew 105w and the other was asking for too much and tripped.

It charged really well from my panels, 200w, taking about 140w in at around midday on a sunny day in May, I had to bypass the solar controller for them to charge the unit.

It is not a bad device, does not feel cheap, I managed to get it @ 649 delivered a month ago, currently showing out of stock on ebay.

Sing out if you have any questions.

      • Hey mate how much noise does this power station generate from say a meter away? Would you be able fall asleep next to it?

Can you elaborate on “bypass the solar controller”?
Do you not just plug the panels to the mppt then to the power station?

        • +1

Hi, The fans only seemed to run when I was charging it from AC. It was silent running the camp fridge. I'd imagine they turn on when running the inverter or if the drain is high.

Running the panels (and a different 160w set) through their Mppt's did not seem to work, so I wired an anderson plug direct to the mppt input from the panels, then on to the yellow xc60? input on the voltx and that worked great.

          • @feral: Thanks I wonder if doing that would cause issues to the power station long term.

Also maybe it has an issue with different brand solar panels?

            • @damolol: Unless I mis understood something, you are actually meant to plug solar panels directly in to the unit. It's inbuilt mppt will handle everything. Plugging in panels with an mppt in the loop will actually confuse the unit as the power from solar panels actually have a different signature to one that's filtered through a mppt. My small unit has only two inputs one for AC and one for DC but with the DC you can connect solar and car cig cable. (Based on the power signature they behave differently.)

I seem to be getting $129 shipping making it $682.79

    • +1

Yep, looks they have just added that on for me to SEQ too.

Looks like this listing is now the cheapest, but still more now $615.42

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/127074604263?itmmeta=01JXA4CEXGA…

      • +1

How did you get that price pls

        • OK, for me the ebay price came up as $789 delivered free. Then entered my ebay Plus 22% off code

to get to the grand total of 615.42, but YMMV

Hope that makes sense and works for you if intereste as still decent price for unit with this

          power, features and capacity.

  • +2

@damolol Solar Input: 550W (DC 11.5-55V, Max) I think unless one exceeds this spec Its probably not a problem as it has a built in controller. I theorise that having the mppt controller in the mix is inefficient, as it will be pairing back to 12-14 ish volts, expecting to charge a 12v battery direct, where as this unit can happily take a range of voltage in, direct from the panels. - Not sure why it didn't work through the mppt though.

  • Did anybody get a cancellation of their order?
I just got one but they did not cancel the PV panel that goes with it. 🤦

    • +1

Exactly the same issue with me. Now I have a panel I don't need.

  • +1

Mine just got cancelled as well

  • +1

    My order got cancelled…..

  • +1

Mine got cancelled too. Is there anybody whose order didn't get cancelled?

  • +1

People's orders got cancelled is it because of out of stock? I doubt this is price error.

    • +2

Around 8 pm last night or before the seller added $129 shipping for some including me to postcode 4507,

it was free shipping before that. The seller had same power station for three different prices, and the $709

price with free delivery was the lowest, and the codes worked for all. The $789 listing is still up now with

free delivery, so after 22% off code can still be had for $615 which is around $61 more now. Wonder if those

orders for $615 will be honoured ?

Just checked and all listings for this model by this seller are out of stock now.

  • +1

    Outbax did the old bait-and-switch.

They put in an incorrect price, and ebay plus shipping, cancelled, listed a $899 version (which the coupon code worked against) + extra shipping but that went out-of-stock too.

You'll note that they have identical listings on ebay stores such as "smart-flash" and "jewelleryidea2" and "fab-living".

Checked it out a a few days later.

Clearly someone put this offer up with "free ebay plus shipping" in error, but rather than owning the error they just cancelled the orders.

Still, I ordered a $799 one with 22% discount +$139 shipping (total paid $682.79) since it's better value than all of the others out there.

This is still cheaper than ordering on their web site ($709 with free shipping).

  • +1

Left a negative feedback on EBay and now they are offering a $50 discount voucher if I would remove the feedback.
