Teac 2.1 SB04T Micro Soundbar $68 at HN

50

Harvey Norman has this soundbar as a "Half Yearly" special for $68. Quite a cheap price even if it is just a basic soundbar. Next cheapest I found was the Good Guys for $88, or appliance warehouse for $98 including delivery.

I have checked and they seem to be in stock (for you to go and collect) at most stores. If you can't collect, postage is about $19.95 dependant on where you live. Probably only really a deal if you are collecting from the store.

Overview and specs as per the HN website:

Take your sound to the next level with the Teac SB04T Micro Soundbar. It offers a 2.1 channel speaker system that is magnetically shielded, with a subtle and stylish design that will fit right in with your home entertainment unit.

High Quality Sound
Now you can benefit from high quality, three dimensional sound without having to worry about having obtrusive or annoying speakers that will get in your way.

        because im a professional lolz

        • @easternculture Very funny. I got your joke, but if people hadn't read certain threads they would not understand. You can count these negs as a badge of honor!

        • Ok. Clearly some people don't understand easternculture's Harvey Norman joke. Instead of trying to explain it to people, here is a simpler joke my 4 year old daughter told me….

          Q. Why did the banana cross the road?
          A. Because it was not peeling well.

        • ill have to neg you for that joke haha

        • Neg, fair enough, my 4 year old daughter just advised me that I told the joke wrong..

          Q. Why did the banana GO TO THE DOCTOR?
          A. Because it was not peeling well.

  • Any reviews on this need something like this to improve tv tinny speakers

    • Wondering how much of an improvement would this make.

Just about any external speaker system is an improvement on the internal speakers of small TV's. If it's convenient for you, drop into a HN - they should be able to demonstrate it if you're reasonably serious on buying one. But make sure your TV has earphone or Aux out, first. The cheapie I bought for the kitchen doesn't :(

  • Yeah i might drop into a store tomorrow and check it out as my tv does have a earphone out

  • The TEAC Australia website link (including Product Sheet and manual):

  • Sounds like a good deal, but at 8w per speaker plus 20w sub, don't expect the floor to be rocking. It is quite low for external speakers.

If max power consumption is 30 watts I think the quoted power output of 8x2+20=36 must in 'watts BS4U'. Given max probable efficiency of around 70% (SMPSU+class D amplification), actual power output (RMS) probably about half that quoted.

  • I bought one to enhance the sound on my Phillips 42". It was great for getting the speech and higher frequencies to 'appear' louder. I think it has more to do with the fact the sound is now being projected towards you.

Unfortunately if I changed the channel on the TV remote it maxed the sound on the sound-bar in one jump. I tried to find the IR emitter to put a piece of paper over it, but that looked ugly. Very irritating or I would have kept it.

PS If you use the headphone out on the TV it will mute the TV speakers. Better to use an RCA to stereo plug if you can.

    • My Samsung allows sound out of headphones and tv speakers at the same time, so it's not the same for every tv.

  • Just went instore had a demo of it with a similar tv to mine and is a great difference so bought one :)

    • What TV have you got?

  • Just a basic 40" TCL LCD
