300 to remote play, on special, makes me feel better about 630 for a whole Switch 2. Keep em coming!

      $299, not $300! Even a single dollar can spark a debate 😄

      • 289 with Perks!

        • +1

Mine get perky with the arrival of cold weather

    • This doesn't have joycon drift though, so it's overall better value. Also many on FB for less than $200, so there is that.

      • It's got cheapo stick modules and will start drifting most likely after 300+ hours of usage like everything else. All primary controllers have the same issue.

        • No Nintendo have extra special ones. There’s many reports of stick drift of on switch 2 and they are hours or days old.

Also had a lite and oled switch, both got stick drift within a year of use.

  • So this will allow me to play my roomie's PS5, while on the dunny? He is a bit of a clean freak and doesn't want me to touch his controllers when I am doing the business.

I'd be more freaked out by your toilet being in the living room mate.

      • +2

Oh, so this doesn't have a screen that I can simply take to the en suite toilet? He lives next door, separated by a wall. We share a toilet connected to a bathroom. Please let me know if you like to understand distance from PS5 to toilet seat or wall thickness.

How often and long are you bowel movements that this becomes necessary? Any metrics, data logging, or graphs would be helpful. Thanks.

@elitistphoenix: Early data shows a 15.2-minute average duration with a 12.5% chance of mid-session boss battles, which could push each session to 30 minutes.
Working on a sit-to-signal fidelity graph as we speak.

@CptnObvious: What's your strategy to avoid dead legs?

              • +1

@onlinepred: Mindful squatting and regular shifts in centre of gravity. It’s less gaming, more yogic endurance at this point.

@elitistphoenix: You had me at logging…

      while on the dunny?

How long do people spend in the sunny dunny session lol?

      1-3 times a day yes

but no 2 is a few seconds to under 30 sex at best for a big toilet clogger

no 1 is just as similar time

      • what planet do you live on? at least 10minutes for no.2.
My bummy hurts for some reason.

what planet do you live on? at least 10minutes for no.2.

          planet earth 🌎
          wow - 10 minutes?!! (that’s if I’m constipated)

I am curious how peeps do gaming at short times whilst multitasking the no.s and the toilet paper duties, unbuckling belts, etc

          • @YoursTruly: This is clearly a question that should be posed to gaming designers. They need to cater for the ergonomic needs.

Some men spend a long time on the toilet to avoid responsibilities.

I know I'm just old but I really don't understand the use case for this. You can only really play it at home? Where your PS5 is? Why don't you just play your PS5? Is this just a rort or were people asking for this?

Sonys take on the Wii U…

Would be good for playing games in bed/another room/if someone is using the TV. But i'd spend the extra $$ and get a Steam Deck that I can actually take with me when I leave the house

    • +2

You can play remotely as long you have network connection on both ends. But yes it's basically a remote desktop with PS5 controller and nice screen. I own it, and have been playing PS5 more often since I don't have to wait for the TV to be free before I can jump on it.

Though playing remotely can be a bit of hit and miss, sometimes the network connection just doesn't hold up very well despite a decent speed - though never troubleshoot why since I mostly play when I'm at home.

But things like Steam Deck is definitely better for when you want to play games without network connection - unfortunately I don't have money to afford both :(

I own it and use it when the kids are watching TV / at night in the bedroom.

As long as the ps5 is connected to an Ethernet cable the streaming quality is amazing.

    • My PS5’s been collecting dust the last couple of months—hoping the Portal helps me actually use it more. That’s the whole reason I bought it! For me it’s about convenience. If the TV’s in use or you just want a quick session in bed or on the couch without the whole setup.I guess I’ll find out soon if it was worth it! The Steam Deck is in another league, but comes with a much higher price tag.

Looking forward to another PS Portal on FB for cheap soon hehe

I don't have it, but my use case would be sitting with wife in same room she watches trash shows. Slightly more social than me in theatre room while she is in living room

    • Yeah totally agree.. I was keen thinking I could paly at work the same way the PS remote app works but apparently not.. at home I have a spare HDMI cable, LAN cable and power cord next to my PC, just move the PS5 to the study in 1 min or vice versa move it back to home theatre if the TV is available. I guess if you don't have multiple TVs in your house it is a cheap second screen I suppose.. but it really needs to be full remote play…

    • It's essentially a boon for Dads with kids. When the TV is frequently preoccupied.

    • Well, people are buying it. it's one of their best selling accessories.

Such a pity this has no cloud streaming psn feature in our great land of Australia….(hopefully it’s in the cards)

Would have made it more appealing for me

    • +3

Yep this. I think they should price it at $200-250 rrp because of this. It's essentially a controller with a screen in Australia.

I picked up one for 150 off marketplace recently and have been playing my playstation more, been enjoying it even with it's streaming flaws, they should really up the bitrate when streaming locally.

Not sure I'd ever pay more than $200 for it though.

I think I may be a person that enjoys playing handheld more than on the tv, the perfect device for me would probably be a remote play only steam deck to my pc.

    • I found the screen too small for many games, but for basic games it's pretty good!

  • I paid $171 for mine (clearance and staff discount) and I've used it… twice I think.

Definitely doesn't work for me cause why bother playing on the handheld when I can play on a large TV and not have to look down at or hold up the device to look at the display. Still, I'm happy to hold onto it for now in case Sony update the functionality on the device.

  • Is this the best way to play expedition 33 handheld?

If you have wifi 7 at home yes
