How long ago did you get it? If it's within 2 years, grab the serial number and head to account.microsoft.com/devices and register it if needed

They should let you lodge a "repair' for it. They will give you a shipping label for Australia Post or organise a pickup with TNT. Once it arrives at the service hub they generally ship out a refurbished/brand new one the following day.

Oh wow I didnt know this. Just checked, found the big w e-receipt dated in July 2023, so I will try this method. Thanks!

        • Managed to register the controller in my Microsoft account but when I submitted repair order, at the last step, it went kaput. Hopefully just a temporary thing. Tried few times, same error message.

          Error:

Something happened. Wait a bit, then try again. If the issue still persists contact us.

          • @OzFrugie: yes that's normal. I've opened to me two years ago. had to find another way to contact them.

          • @OzFrugie: I’ve had this before, I can’t remember but I either did it via Incognito / private browsing or indeed waited a couple days.

Alternate method is using the below link, it lengthens the process, and you generally need to reply with the invoice, but it works fairly well: https://support.xbox.com/en-AU/help/hardware-network/control…

I haven’t used this method for about 18 months so YMMV

            • @MBix: I just tried using my desktop rather than mobile. It worked. Not sure if it was desktop vs mobile thing or just coincidence.
Service order is placed now. Thanks again for letting me know about this. Saved me $58 :)

      • Thanks for this info bro

I've got a black version now drifting L stick - tried running calibration multiple times, isopropyl cleaning, etc. Out of warranty now but not sure I can be bothered pulling it apart. Don't think the colour matters!

    • Most of the time its due to gunk/dirt getting in.
It's fairly easy to fix, just pull the housing off and blow the stuff out from the thumbsticks.

If you have warranty you might as well get a new controller though.

Thanks just did Officeworks price beat on Black at Taren point https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/xbox-wirel…

  • Does anyone know if any of these have the rubberised grips? I have a gold controller that feels much higher quality than my previous black one, the grip being part of that

    • +1

These are all the textured plastic

    • +2

Rubberized grip is reserved for some Limited edition & Elite controllers.

Proper good deals. Was about to buy one at $89 a week ago! Front left bumper died and the fix it guides are a bit of a pain. Buy 1st ,try fix old one possibly… in the future 😂

  • +1

Amazon all colours at 64$ is a good deal.

  • Mine just broke - LS drift. 2 in 3yrs (1st one in 1yr so warranty)
Are these all crap? But not much option in wireless 3rd party.

  • Hmmmm the timing of this deal. My years old red controller has very suddenly developed a trigger sticking. Was going to try pull it apart and fix it, but at that price I might get a new one then try fix the old as a spare.

    • +1

Be careful taking apart the controller, I’ve tried to fix some of my own and if you start unscrewing indiscriminately you’ll screw yourself over (no pun intended). Look up a good video before you dive in there yourself.

      • Buy a new one option just got stronger. Thanks for the heads up.

  • For those going for the Officeworks price beat on the black, I've been denied due to the model numbers being different.

    • I rang up the call centre and did an order over the phone with a PB for a black controller. He asked for the retailer and price, I said Harvey Norman $58 and he took about 5 seconds and said yes. I don't even think he looked.

      $55.10.

    • The reason for this is that Officeworks hasn't updated the model number on their site.

It's still listed as QAT-00003 but it's actually the QAT-00006.

I almost ran in this problem today. We looked it up, compared barcodes which matched and was all good.
Staff member was new to price beats so when getting help to put the price match through, the guy mentions oh the models don't match.

The box does say QAT-00006 so he realised that it's their own site that has the wrong model number.

So if anyone else runs in to this problem just get them to compare barcodes and show them the model number on the box itself.

Did OW price beat online. Thanks OP. Should be good to use with my docked Steam Deck.

  • Amazon has matched the white colour at $58

  • Tried to price match this at EB Games. It was denied. They said they only price match with JB Hi-Fi and Big W.

Price match successful at the Good Guys.
