30-Day USA eSIM: Unlimited Data/Calls US$15 (~A$23, Was US$25 ~A$39) + 50.5% TopCashback US Cashback @ Tello

120

Tello, a T-Mobile MVNO is offering a no contract month to month plan:

  • Unlimited data (35GB then shaped, 5GB Hotspot),
  • Unlimited calls
  • Unlimited texts
  • Free International Calls to 60+ countries (Australia included)
  • Free Wi-Fi Calling

for US$15 (~A$23), normally US$25. Topcashback US is also offering 50.5% cashback making it US$7.43 or A$11.42.

Tello offers eSim or regular sim. I purchased using my AU address and card, so don't pay any state tax. TopCashbackUS is already tracking $7.57 and supposedly payable in 3 weeks. Screenshot

Why Tello? Well, I went down the rabbit hole of looking at all of the eSim offers here and while there are some great deals the speed of the data can be awful as their data exit points tend to be in Europe. See Flex Mobile for example.

Tello is a MVNO for T-Mobile just like say Amaysim or Coles Mobile is for Optus so you'll get almost the full speed as you would get if you were a T-Mobile user.

If you go through Reddit: eSims #1 OR Reddit TravelSims, you'll see the recommendation is to go with Tello for anyone using data or there for a good amount of time.

Other Stuff

  • Cancelling: You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel your plan from your online Tello account or using the free "My Tello" app (Android version). $0 to cancel.
  • Referral Program: The referral program gives you $10 credit only after you pay for the 1st month, so useless unless you plan to use it for more than 1 month. I think you also need enough credit in full to use on the bill. e.g. $15 credit for the 2nd month of $15. Meh
  • The plans starts when you buy it and lasts for exactly 30 days (end of the day).
  • Speeds:

Typical Download Speed
79 – 357 Mbps (5G)
13 – 61 Mbps (4G)

Typical Upload Speed
6 – 30 Mbps (5G)
2 – 11 Mbps (4G)

Typical Latency
17 – 32 ms (5G)
26 – 46 ms (4G)

  • So would this be good as a travel sim if going to the US for a month. Some of these plans make it difficult to cancel

    • +2

Yeah, good for I'd say trips more than a week.

Tello has the cancel button on the main dashboard. Screenshot

    • Last time I was in the US I couldn't get either the Verizon or T-Mobile trial working. Maybe my Google account not being set with US billing or something, no idea.

If you have student beans you can grab a 50% discount code on the US website.

50% off code if anyone wants: SBNS50OFF1MO-aadbbc46f3

Can also stack with referral bonus for $10 off for the 2nd month.

Referral bonus, 50% off code and cash back are all stackable.

Click through tcb, register account with referral code then enter promo code when checking out. Overall price will be $2-3

    • great tip! For others, the code above has been used (not by me)

  • Is it possible to order a physical sim from Australia using this offer ?

    • You can get the esim and use it in Australia with wifi calling for calls and sms.

Physical sim delivered to US only.

  • I've been using Tello here for months for my US bank accounts - works perfectly here on WiFi calling for calls and sms.

Where can we add our referral codes?

    • Added.

  • If you want unlimited hotspot while in USA, Visible mobile is the best at $25usd for unlimited data and hotspot at 10mbps

  • $3 for sim /esim

It gets taken off in the cart. (Discount: $3)

      • Yep - except on the cheaper plans

  • If I purchase this today, it says, next monthly charge will be on 15-Jul. That means it activates on the date of purchase. Is there a way to buy now and activate later?

    • Nope.

Is this for use only in usa or can i access 4g in canada japan & here in Australia also?

    • US only but you can roaming if you load up $5 PAYG. Roaming

  • Same here, can I use it here in Australia (SA)? I have checked the coverage, but it cannot let me choose Australia!

  • I bought this eSim for my folks in Canada who are scheduled to travel to US early next month but they were unable to activate it while in Canada, perhaps you can only activate it if you are in the US? Have tried turning on the wifi calling etc but still were not able to get registered to any of the Canadian networks.

I assume it would be the same case if you are in Australia, it wouldn't activate unless you travel to the US.

    • Some instructions here to activate overseas. - https://blog.tello.com/news/how-to-activate-tello-from-abroa…

      • Thanks neil, I got it activated, pls see my comment below.

    • To activate overseas, ie outside United States, you need to have wifi calling enabled and set an e911 address in the tello web portal. Different for android vs iphone.
Source: have done today with eSim in preparation for trip

      • Yes thank you, just sorted it out yesterday. Had to set up E911 address on the Tello website, and restart the phone with and without WiFi connected and it got activated.

  • I've tried to buy this but the pay button is just unavailable. I then update my IMEI and it says its not sure if it can work and the payment screen goes away. I have a S25 Ultra, kinda of know the esim will work lol

    • +2

Same thing happened to me with S22. Just put in a fake/generated IMEI, it doesn't check on activation.

      • Thank you kindly. Did this and working so all set for my flight on Sunday.

  • Would this work in Canada?

    • +1

Not included. It would roam to Canada so you'd pay
