Hi Ben, I am traveling to Hong Kong in July and then again in October. How long this deal will last for? Can I buy it now and activate it after 2 - 5 months later?

Your website has a terms and condition, which says the eSIM has to be activated within the validity period. But it doesn’t specify the validity period.

        • also says:
"Aussie Based assistance from 8AM-10PM AEST to keep you connected, anytime, anywhere."

          and
"Our support team is here 24/7 to help you troubleshoot. Just reach out via email or live chat, and we’ll get you connected."

should that second one be 'here 14/7'?

        • +1

Edit: I got a response from the support team :

the eSIM will remain valid until october if you purchase it now. It only starts to count once installed.

  • How does it work for travelling multiple countries?
I see the option to choose only one country

    • We can do Regional/Global packages which are available on our site.
However the prices aren't as low as we'd like at this point. We're working with our providers to lower the pricing for these packages.

  • Wow looks really cheap, what's the catch?

    • No catch here!
We work closely with network providers to get the best pricing possible.

  • What does 20GB 30 days mean ? Would the 20GB data be spread over the 30 days period and each day I am only allowed to use 0.66GB or I can use it till data exhausted as long as it is within the 30 day period ??

    • +4

20 GB / 30 days means you will get a total of 20 gigabytes of data that’s valid for 30 days from activation. There is no built-in daily allowance of 0.66 GB you can use the full 20 GB any way you like (for example, 5 GB one day, 1 GB the next, none the day after), as long as you stay within that 20 GB cap and the 30-day validity window. Once you hit 20 GB or the 30 days expire, your data allowance ends (unless you top up or renew).

  • Also which network would be for South Korea ?

    • +1

We use SKTelecom for our South Korea plans :)

      • Thank you for your quick reply, great pricing !

  • What is single use?

  • +4

It's in USD, please highlight the currency!

    • Where did you find it is in USD ? I thought it is AUD so thanks for pointing it out.

    • Hey thanks for pointing that out, it's now fully highlighted in the title and post.

      • +13

Why is an “Aussie” site in USD?

        • Our prices are in USD because we serve a global customer base, and USD is the most widely accepted currency for international transactions. It also helps keep things consistent across different countries we operate in, especially since our eSIM service is travel-focused.

We're working on a feature that'll auto convert the currency based on the users GEO location.

          • +7

@Ben-TeamFlex: Prefer to manually select currency, I might be overseas yet may want to pay in AUD.

            • @ozilicious: I'd want to select the currency that is cheapest and pay with a fee-free credit card. I assume Flex is paying the network providers in USD so I'd choose USD. Both views are valid. Flex just needs to provide options.

    Update from Flex Mobile:

We’ve had a big spike in orders come through all at once, and it’s been a great learning experience for the team.

Our automated provisioning system handled most of the load well, but it did skip a beat occasionally so we’ve had to jump in manually to sort a few orders out. We're already making improvements to strengthen the system and reduce friction going forward.

We’re also working on rolling out more automated support to help you get answers faster without having to wait in a live chat queue.

That said, response times may vary for now. Due to the current demand, we’re temporarily reducing our support hours slightly so our team can focus and work together during peak periods to handle the volume more effectively.

So please bare with us as we're fine tuning our systems and processes.

Thanks again to everyone who’s ordered, reached out and given feedback. We’re a small team building something we care about, and this kind of demand is helping us improve fast.

    Cheers,
    The Flex Mobile Team

  • Do they route back to Australia or via local networks? I've found most eSIMs route via the companies home country not local break out. Makes them useless for anything ping sensitive.

    • +1

Hey, so our eSIMs currently have breakout points globally this being Hong Kong, Vietnam, Europe and soon to be other locations.
We're working with our network partner to quickly establish more POPs (Points of Presence)

      • +1

Good to hear, sucks getting eSIMs only to find out they're 300ms+ ping.

Any chance of adding global ones in the future, ie for use in most countries? I typically only buy eSIMs for transiting and buy a local SIM when I land, so multi-country is best even if it's only 1GB.

    • That's a really strange thing (and I'm not doubting it's truth)

If the traffic needs to go to an international POP (I'm sure over "the internet") why not just send/receive it directly from where you are?

      • It’s a known thing with roaming, they need local break out support added (which requires deals with local providers) or it routes back to the SIMs home country. Alternatively they set them up aa single country SIMs and IP bandwidth is apart of the contract, then there’s no issue.

It’s especially applicable for multi country SIMs as it requires the addition of specific local break out technology (available under 5G specs) which is setup separately to roaming access, otherwise all traffic is via the “home” network (which for a regional eSIM could be anywhere)

Cheap eSIMs are usually the worst for it because it’s simply cheaper not to negotiate contracts for every single country you sell SIMs for. Roaming contracts you can very easily purchase wholesale access, but local break out and/or local IP bandwidth is harder to access and they’ll usually need to research providers for each individual country.

Same issue is present with general roaming - no Australian provider has local break out roaming despite 5G supporting it for literal years now.

  • Which network do you use in Japan?

    • It says Docomo on the Japan page.

  • Are these only data, no voice or text?

    • +2

Hey for now these are data only.

  • +2

The Japan and Thailand plans mentioned in the description are slightly cheaper on Nesa Mobile. Shop around.

  • Are these data plan only ?

    • +1

Hi, for now our eSIM plans are data only.

  • Hi op I’m in Japan, do you get these instantly and then can activate straight away?

    • Hi, yes once purchased you'll receive the eSIM usually within 5 minutes.

      • Thx by email s as I can’t get texts and can activate immediately? Also is it only 4g ?

        • +1

Yes all eSIMs are sent through by email. In japan we can offer 5G depending on the plan you go with.

        • can you let us know how it goes? working well?

  • +3

If I were to buy now, when would I have to activate by i.e. 30 days?

  • Just checking if the USA eSim covers Hawaii?

  • OP, can you confirm the validity of these esims?

  • Do the China eSims circumvent the Great Firewall of China so that Google/Meta services can be accessed?

    • Data Exit Country: Hong Kong
So it should be OK. Just make sure enabling roaming.

  • G'day, tried accessing your support portal last night and this morning, but no luck.
In in Thailand and just bought the basic 7 day plan.

I've added the esim and believe it is active, however it does not appear to be working for calls or data.
It shows an R next to my carrier in the top bar of my Motorola edge 50 neo. I've turned off my Australian physical SIM and an just using the esim (which refers to the esim as Carrier). Any help appreciated.

Update. If I select roaming then data does work. Should the esim use roaming or natively connect to the local carrier?

    • +1

Depends on who is providing the service.

For example, many China esims are provided by Hong Kong based telcos. It helps circumvent the great firewall of china.

No idea what the arrangements for Thailand would be but I'm guessing it's a provider outside of Thailand.

    • Hey, sorry to hear about that.

Are you able to hop on our live chat to sort this out?
You can also email me directly here: [email protected]

      Hope to get this sorted.

    • +1

Hey also following on from that.

When using your eSIM, data roaming needs to be enabled to ensure it works correctly.

Any questions feel free to reach out :)

      • Thank you very much for the response. Works great!

    • It's a Singapore or HK sim with a roaming agreement with a local carrier. It needs roaming enabled.

If you want a local sim go to an AIS or DTAC store and get an esim, or get a 10-day/50GB DTAC tourist esim (doesn't expire, just has a 10 day data pack) on the Nomad app for $7US. You can then reload it using an app or at 7-11 for a few baht per day.

  • My parents are going to the US next week. They are very low-tech, and if I buy the United States 10GB 30-day plan, how would I activate it for them? Should I activate the SIM on the day they check in at the airport?

Once they arrive in the US, will the SIM automatically work for 4G data?

    • If your parents aren't tech-savvy, the easiest way is to install the eSIM for them before they leave — ideally on the day they check in at the airport or just before.

Once they arrive in the US, they'll have to go into there settings and enable data roaming (If you'd like to do this for them beforehand this is fine). It will automatically connect to a US 4G network and start working. The 30-day plan will begin from when it first connects.

  • Do you need to do KYC for Indonesia sims?

    • Hey, no KYC is required for indonesia sims.

    • IMEI registration is required only after 90 days. Your phone will stop connecting and you'll need to go to a carrier store your passport and visa.

If Australians haven't left by then they'll be annoyed at you for other reasons.

  • Is pre-activation days on the page referring to the lead time we have to add the esim before travelling?

E.g. for Malaysia, 180 days - does that mean I can buy this esim and use it in September?

    • +1

      @b0b0
Yes, the "pre-activation days" simply means how long you can wait before activating the eSIM after purchase.
So for Malaysia, the 180 days means you can buy it now and activate it any time within the next 180 days

  • Update From Flex Mobile:

Wow! We’re seeing another big surge in eSIM orders come through ( mainly from Ozbargain, amazing!), but it does mean our support team is a little stretched right now.

We’re working hard to get back to everyone as quickly as we can, thanks for bearing with us and being patient while we catch up. We really appreciate it!

  • I will travel to both Canada and US, do I need to buy esim seperately? Do you have esim for both countries?

  • +2

Fantastic pricing, thanks for posting. I will be bookmarking your site for upcoming travels for sure.

  • I tried to activate but the esim showing “Activating” . And I couldn’t even be able to access the support hub

    • Hey, let's fix that.

Are you able to email your order number to:

      Thanks.

OP, can you provide company information?

  • Any deals on buying 4 at a time for USA? - Would rather back an Aus company cheers - Couldn't connect to live chat to ask…

Also, just a bit of feedback - you should make search terms like 'USA" and 'Global' return sims / search items.

  • Hi OP I have a trip to Japan in July. Does eSim have an activation date by?

    • Hey, most of our eSIMs need to be activated within 180 Days including our Japan Plans.
So it'd be fine to purchase the plan now if you plan to use it in July :)

  • Amazing prices! Finally! Great job guys!

  • One question OP. If I buy the eSim before the deals end (end of August), can I still use it in November to December this year? Thanks!

    • Hey, most of our eSIMs are valid for 180 days after purchase. However to be certain i'd reccomend sending an email to
[email protected] to see the details regarding the specific country you need an eSIM for.

  • Any discount for Europe SIMs :)

    • Same. I'm looking for a EU SIM for December/January 2026

    • Hey,
Please send an email to: [email protected]
they may be able to help you out with a discount code.

  • Looking for China please. Would be great if you can it.

  • I have been buying from trip.com. lots of esims and different data choices

  • +7

Anyone else have success with this company on activating and using ther esim? Only questioning due to some of the above comments' suspicion of the company

    • +3

the fact the OP was very active in responding to comments besides the one above has me more suspicious. i've got a coupon code waiting from their online chat service, and id like to buy 2x sims. i might end up just buying a cheaper esim to test the system before getting a 30day

      • +1

I've bought one of 3 I need. I'll test it out when in Japan but might just buy the other 2 from others to be safe.

  • Hi Ben, thanks for posting this deal!

Just wanted to clarify—are the eSIM plans listed here standard data-only eSIMs, or do they also support traditional voice calls and SMS services (not just VoIP)? It would be helpful to know whether these plans come with a mobile number and support for incoming/outgoing calls and texts, or if they're purely for data use only.

    Appreciate your clarification!

    • Hey,

The eSIM plans listed are data-only, so they don’t include traditional voice calls, SMS, or a mobile number. They’re designed primarily for internet access while travelling perfect for things like maps, messaging apps (like WhatsApp), social media, and browsing.

These details can also be found on all of our eSIM product descriptions.

  • +2

Thanks for the deal! It was great timing for me.

    My experience in the US:

Purchasing and activation was fast and painless, from ordering to being connected took less than 5 minutes.

Looks like the traffic is routed to Poland, which unfortunately meant my actual browsing experience and network speed is very slow - eg. At least a few seconds wait to open this webpage. However for navigation, messaging (hopefully not sending too many photos), contactless payment etc has been flawless.

If your internet use demands are not high, this is fantastic for a low price.

    • @definitive

Thanks heaps for the feedback and for grabbing a plan with us!

Great to hear activation was smooth and that core things like maps, messaging, and tap payments worked without a hitch, that’s exactly what we aim for.

At the moment, our USA plans route data through various European locations (like Poland), which helps us keep things affordable, though it can impact browsing speed. We’re actively working with our network partners to explore a US-based data exit point to improve performance for future travelers.

Really appreciate you sharing your experience — it’s super helpful for others and for us as we continue refining things.

If you’ve got a sec, we’d love it if you could leave us a quick review here:
