Any deals on 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 Laptop memory?

  • Can't find any reviews on this kit. But does have all the buzzwords that are considered desirable.
So.. is this good value for a 7800x3d system?

  • It has one of the best heat spreader and PCB among all DDR5 RAMs. Hynix M-Die should be enough for Ryzen CPUs

    Hermes RAM

    • I'm waiting for Balenciaga RAM myself

  • no Expo means what exactly? Not possible to run this kit at 6400 CL32 on AM5?

    • It does not guarantee the overclocking preset to be stable on AMD and probably needs some adjustment after enabling XMP like changing UCLK=MemCLK/2 to UCLK=MemCLK. It is likely able to run anyway but more depends on CPU. You could easily adjust it to 6000 CL28 manually. The only thing matter is actually the chips. It uses Hynix chips so it won't be a bottleneck for anything like 6400CL32. Most AM5 motherboards support XMP as well.

      • oh cool. I won't mind a bit of tweaking, as long as it can run at those speeds. 6000 CL28 expo RAM kits are effin exp so if this can clock as well then it's a bargain (minus the tweaking effort)

        • It might actually have the EXPO, but it seems that Acer doesn't care AU market at all, so there isn't any detail available. Some of the same model sold in China and the US have AMD EXPO Ready and some don't though it is not indicated anywhere in detail pages on Australian retailers websites.

I just received that. It has EXPO and runs perfectly under EXPO with my 7800X3D and X670E

      • Mind didn't have expo profile

        • It's weird. How can it be without the profile while saying that on the package.

Mine has the profile and the label of EXPO Ready

          • @Meteor Anarcom: where did it say expo ready? mine had it on the barcode. but when i install the ram, i can only see jedec 5200 and xmp1 6400, no expo. what speed is your expo profile? same 6400 as xmp1? or is it lower speed? I want to run mine at lower speed than 6400/32 anyway. like 6200/30 or something.

            • @jkim: What's your mobo? Mine has both EXPO and XMP on 6400 CL 32-39-39-102 1.40V. The AMD E.X.P.O Ready was labelled beside the P/N S/N sticker

              • @Meteor Anarcom:

The AMD E.X.P.O Ready was labelled beside the P/N S/N sticker

Yep, same place as mine. My MB is Gigabyte B650M Aorus Elite AX.

                • @jkim: So, it did have 2 different versions, as I said in this comment.
It's still unusual if it states EXPO but actually doesn't have though

                  • @Meteor Anarcom: I don't know… packaging clearly says expo. how do i post pictures here?

                    • @jkim: Shouldn't be an issue actually, just enable XMP and adjust to UCLK=MemCLK

                      • @Meteor Anarcom: I'll try tomorrow. I installed ram, tried to see the profiles on the ram, and now running memtest to make sure it's fine before doing anything more / tweaking.

                        • @jkim: Test ran fine 10 runs of extended. XMP1 had UCLK=MemCLK by default so I didn't even need to do anything to set that. Now to test stability under XMP1.
To clarify, I wasn't even going to use EXPO even if the profile was there. But I found it odd that the packaging said EXPO Ready but the profile wasn't available, so thought something might be wrong with the RAM. I don't particularly trust EXPO because it's a self-certification scheme, not third party vetted like XMP.
Here's hoping there's nothing wrong with the RAM.

btw there's also the silver color by the same seller, $185 so $4 cheaper:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/126183442486

    I paid $148 shipped using JUNEOFY20.

  • bought, thanks.

    • Received mine and the packaging says expo ready. Haven't installed it yet so don't know anything more yet.

      • +1

Even though the packaging says expo ready, there's no expo profile. Guess have to tweak it manually.

  • Is this good for gaming? I play mainly hell let loose. Currently running 16gb ram with a 6800xt. I occasionally get stuttering and screen tears.

I'm a complete noob though. I see most new rigs come with 32gb so thinking this is the next logical upgrade for me?

    • Sure it's for gaming. You can expect better performance after the upgrade because 16GB in DDR5 has much poorer performance than dual channel 32G (16Gx2) and a lower latency ones.

What CPU and mobo are you using? Make sure it is DDR5 not DDR4, they're not compatible

      • +2

        It's a i7-12700 cpu and Asus prime z690 wifi mobo. Pretty sure it's ddr5.

Thanks, I might pull the trigger.

Got these (in black) the other day and installed it last night. Was able to tweak bios settings to get it running at the 6400MHz (thanks chatgpt). Stress tested and they are running well. Happy days
