My goodness they are up to F now. I have the B version. Does anything ever change?

    • +3

Should say also the 930b is simply brilliant!!!

      • I have the same. 930B. Wondering if it's worth upgrading.

Coming from a full AVR based Atmos system, I still miss the big front and centre speakers but the atmospheric effects are still good for it's size.

    • +4

      You're not alone, I've got the Q950A.

      • +3

        950A gang represent.

Also wonder how much it's changed/improved between A to F

    • Still rocking Q950A - cracking deal when I got it 3 years ago for under $700

      • 950 or 930?

    • i got the 930C. wonder if there is any performance boost vs the F'

    • +1

Subwoofer has noticeably improved from D (ported) to F (sealed with two speakers). Subjectively, it looks better visually too.

      • ported isnt necessarily better. Ceterus parabus, sealed has a tighter sound,

    • +3

Any Q90R gang here or am I alone? lol

      • you are not alone

      • Yeah. Still here.

      • Q70R here. However recently upgraded to 990D and gonna get the 800F for second tv.

    • +5

I think they skipped E for whatever reason.

    • +10

Care to elaborate because I'm pretty sure the Samsung beats pretty much every other soundbar.

      https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/best/soundbar

      • Especially 990F @ 1k

      • Sony HT-A7000 - enough said lol

    • +1

I've got both and the Sony rear speakers regularly drop out and reconnect which is really annoying. The Samsung connection is perfect and over a greater distance.

    • -8

Lol its bose then maybe sonos and sony. If you have an all samsung tv then maybe samsung. But you're delusional if you think samsung is better than sony

      • Yah sorry you're wrong

    • not one argument of substance from either group. "ur dum" is not particularly convincing.

  • +1

How does this compare to His Master's Voice?

    • +2

      The woofer is different

      • +1

        And sounds rather ruff

  • +3

Can get to $1044 with further 5% first time buyer discount

    • How? EPP are not working on app

      • only EDU and Government EPP accounts can be added to app to get the 5% off

      • It applied automatically for me

  • Good deal, relatively new on the f

  • Is the sound better than sonos arc ultra and sub?

    • +6

In my opinion the full sonos setup (Arc Altra + Sub4 + 2 x Era300's) sounds better. I am basing this on owning the full sonos setup and the Q990B and dont think the Q990F has changed that much (except for the sub). If you compare the price of Q990F you cant argue with the value you get. The Samsung does sound amazing and the Sonos definitely does not sound twice as good as the Samsung for the price you pay!

  • Q990F showing me $1199 via Westpac.
    How to get $1099 please?

    • +1

its Westpac EPP, not Westpac Rewards

  • +8

Just ordered one for 992.26AUD. 5% first purchase discount + 5% voucher which I asked for via chat. Thanks OP!

    • HI mate, Any proof or screenshot for 5% discount? Tried to get the code thru chat, they need some proof

      • +2

It is called 5% loyalty voucher and you need to send them a photo or a screenshot of serial number of a Samsung product you own.

Here's the screenshot of my order. Unfortunately the specific voucher name was not included there.

        https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/293857/122205/screensh…

        • Great, Thanks mate

    • Thanks for the tip! I was able to get the 5% loyalty voucher via chat as well, so got it for $992.26 too! What a deal!

  • +5

If you ask kindly on chat they're able to give an extra 5% off voucher for use with the EPP site too. I got the HW-800F last week and was able to stack the 5% first purchase and additional 5% off voucher.

  • +1

Sigh……I thought I did well buying the 990d for $910 two months ago.

    • +2

      You did

    • +4

I mean this is 20% more expensive but doesn't add 20% value.

So I think $910 is a much better deal than this!

      • +1

Well my only complain for the 990d was the subwoofer is quite huge. And the F has a smaller but 'apparently' more powerful one.

Anyway loving the 990d. Easy to set up and no brainer to get one.

        • Hah yep. I actually bought the same thing at probably the same deal. Loving it.

    • +1

      Me too lol 😂
However, I tried many times for extra 5% off and they were consistent in their responses stating that EPP/Govt portals cannot combine offer codes except for recycling! It’s great to hear that @crowing was able to stack

      • +2

No additional discounts and I virtually batted my eyelids and put up my best puss in boots cute face

  • That's great deal for 990F.

    • Never knew it is such on demand more than sonos?

      • Sonos eco system is an absolute shitshow at the moment, I wouldn't touch them if I already had established sonos eco system.

        • How about the sound? Any better than this?

  • +1

Not seeing any deals with my .edu email

Assuming now this is strictly for Westpac peeps?

    • I am seeing 990f at $1234 for edu account

      • Strange as it's still $1599 for me.
        Thanks for the reply

  • +3

I paid $1272 for q990f via my good guys commercial account for new one.

JBL 1300 MK2 is announced. It will arrive in September. Both samy and JBL have same sub for the top end, which is designed by Harman. On paper, JBL outshines with amount of total output power which is massive - almost doubled than MK1. JBL takes an edge with battery powered surronds and versality of those two, while samsung takes an edge with ability to integrate with existing speakers of samsug tvs, frames etc. in addition to make soundbar connecting samsung TV wirelessly.

Oh, Marshall Heston 120 also annonuced and available now. While is not comparable, its direct push from top end quality products. Klipsch's Flexus Core 300 is anotherone lurking around and not coming out of bag yet, but its arrival is imminent.

  • +1

I remember buying 930B 2 years back for $699 best deal and best sound bar

    • +6

Sonos is literally 3x more expensive for a full setup though… I don't think it's worth 3x+ more. Sub or no.

I've listed to a full Sonos setup in person at a friends house - it's good. But it still kinda… 'eh' compared to my dads (rather old) AVR setup even though it's only 5.1 - it's way clearer.

But AVR cable mess can't be ignored… I moved away from a budget 3.1 setup for simplicity to a 2.0 Edifier S3000Pros and dont really have any regrets. I rent though so massive setups aren't super viable.

      • How do the s3000s compare to a traditional 5.1 setup? Space is at a premium for me as well and I am hunting for the best compromise between space, quality and affordability. At a budget of around 750 I can get the s3000s or tsasmung q700 series setup or all in one like the marshall Woburn. I am total audio noob so reluctant to go FB marketplace route.

        • +2

I guess firstly - there's no earc/arc support, so you'll just be running optical to your TV (ensure your TV supports this, im learning this isnt always the case anymore, same with RCA)

The S3000Pros sound amazing and the bass is bigger than you'd assume. It's not got a sub and there's no easy way to expand to a sub either. If you want a bassier experience, consider the S360DB, 2.1 system. The S2000MKIII are a little more compact as well vs the 3000s, apparently a flatter/cleaner response but I'd say less lively/fun. S3000s being 6.5 vs 5.5 they perform better without the sub. I've never really felt wanting for a sub for these.

That said, they're big. I also got the Edifier stands to go with em.. They weren't gonna fit on our TV unit. Also remotes for Edifier stuff kinda meh. Also no 'smart' functionality for these. I hook up an old Google Chromecast Audio to the 3.5 jack to cast music.

One …annoyance more than a flaw, turning them on initially will reset volume every time to its default - it's default is 10. 2 is enough for youtube watching lol. Soooo if that's gonna burn you, look elsewhere. I don't know if the S2000/360DB have a similar issue.

It's hard to beat soundbar convenience.. And a soundbar setup might sound better just for movies vs the S3000pros for example (if it has a center channel etc), but these are amazing for music.

TLDR; YMMV, very subjective! As audio always is.

          • +1

            @ReaperX22: S3000 it is 😁

            • +1

@peeppeep: Nice! Extra warning that environment makes a big difference. Our previous place they were mid-room placed and were well balanced, good bass but not boomy. New place our TV setup is in a corner, the bass is much more pronounced now, but luckily you can adjust bass/treble with the DSP setting + knobs on the back.

Also I must reiterate. They're bigger than you think, measure twice buy once! Ensure they fit your setup. Also theyre connected wirelessly so each unit needs its own direct power, but no speaker cable between. In ~4 years of owning them I've only had the wireless connection thing be an issue… twice? And off/on fixes it so meh. (like left just won't connect to primary/right)

(Looks like centercom are cheapest atm. Not sure re delivery. I paid 699 in 2021, so ~750 is a decent price I reckon)

  • What's the difference between the two?

  • +1

Is there any way to get in on the Westpac EPP quickly?

I've got a Q990B which my kid knocked off the unit so one of the HDMI ports is a bit screwed… still kind of works but Atmos audio breaks in and out (poor connection from what I can tell).

I can trade in an old crappy Sony soundbar too for an extra $200 it would seem which is handy.

    • Only $25 trade in discount apply. $200 only samsung online

      • I entered the details and for a sony soundbar I can get $200. They don't ask for model. I've got an HTS-100F that I got for free as part of a bundle, I couldn't sell it for $200 (retail price) so that works for me!

Would love to know how to get Westpac EPP. My student EPP doesn't give a discount at Samsung on these :(

        • Not sure how you managed that - I've specified a Sony soundbar trade in and it's still just $25.

          • +1

@elektron: This is with student login - so may be part of that

    • F

  • Shows $1999 for HW-990F on .gov email.

  • I have an old Bose 2.1 ch cinemate speaker system that is gathering dust (no HDMi and optical port). I cannot find anywhere in the trade-in to specify a model so i guess its good to go for trading and get $25 off.

  • If you can sign up to bluelightcard.com.au you can get this price just did it this morning. The types of roles they allow is pretty broad

    • I'll give this a shot. Hmmm I need a payslip. eep

  • Have westpack discount HW-Q990F for 1100 is it with while spending the extra couple hundred for that model over 930f

  • good soundbars

  • +1

The website doesn't like my gov email address :/

  • +1

    Ordered 990F for $992.26 Thanks.

    • How did you manage further discount?

      • +1

5% first time purchase and 5% for loyalty voucher

        • Can we use normal loyalty vouchers for EPP or do we need to ask for EPP one?

          • +2

@Schrodinger: You need to ask one for EPP. First consultant say no. But 2nd consultant gave me one.

          • +1

@Schrodinger: I used normal voucher on EPP and it discounted price by 5%

Though on samsung online the voucher discount things by 10%

        • Worked for me too, thanks for the heads up

  • +1

Great price for the 990F. Can anybody recommend speaker stands for the surrounds?

    • +4

Based off old deals I might grab these which are down to $110.50 atm

      • +1

That's a great price. I paid twice the price 3 years ago for these for my 990B rear speakers.

      • +1

        Ordered. Thanks

  • Wow perfect timing, I was looking for a new soundbar and this offer popped up! Cheers!

  • +3

Grrrr 990f now out of stock

  • +2

Just set up my 800F with the TCL 75C855 and wow—the difference in sound quality compared to the TV’s built-in speakers is night and day. I can only imagine how much better the experience would be with the extra satellite speakers on the 930F or 990F. Highly recommend it to anyone who’s on the fence—absolutely worth it, even if it’s the 800F model

    • +2

I got the 800f too. I dont have any space for satellite speakers so it made it simple for me to decide.
