$5 for $50 here. Do 5*$0.01 each month and a large transfer in and out each week

    • +1

      Explain?

      • +1

I assume they’re talking about how they qualify for Yello and maybe why/how they were targeted.

        • +1

Correct. Although I've now found out BPAY counts so I'll be doing that

    • +1

      Can you just BPay

You need to make at least 5 eligible outbound transactions monthly from an eligible transaction or credit card account to get CommBank Yello. These outbound transactions count towards your eligibility:

      Payments or other purchases made using a debit or credit card;
      StepPay purchases, where a purchase is treated as one outbound transaction (StepPay instalment payments are not considered an eligible outbound transaction);
      Cash withdrawals at an ATM or CommBank branch;
Payments or transfers to non-CommBank accounts and third parties, including BPAY payments.

      • +1

Hmm, I didn't know that. Thanks, I'll just BPAY now. Will save me being looked at weird at the checkout

  • +1

$5/$50 on both accs here. Thanks OP

    • $5/$50 for me too. Three in a row now.

  • $20 with 200

  • +1

    $5 with $100

  • Absolutely nothing for me.

    • +1

Nor me. I wonder if this is because I already completed CBA Yello offers with Coles twice already, in March and April.

      • +1

Nope. I haven't used one or seen one in several years so i think it's just arbitrary.

      • +1

I’ve done three in a row and still got a fourth.

  • 10/200 for me only :(

  • +1

    $5 with $100 ;(

  • can I use this to buy credit card or charging a opal card?

    • I’m going to buy a gift card today. I have spend $200 get $30 back so I’m hoping it works!

      • +1

        Gift cards work

        • thank you!

  • +5

    Time to get some cashout.

    • +1

Are you suggesting you can take $100 out at Coles and get cashback?

      • +2

I've done it twice, worked both times, although the last time the checkout clerk told me that next time I need to buy something.

        • Sweet I’ll give this a shot

          • +1

@UberIsCool: Just be aware that some store managers appear to be enforcing a no cashout policy, as I have seen no cashout signs at the service desk at a few Coles stores in recent times.

I am not sure whether that means no cashout at all or no cashout unless you are purchasing something as well.

        • what is something to buy ?

      • +2

Yes - either via the self checkout machines (requires purchase and inserting the physical card) or via a manned counter (who may or may not insist on requiring a purchase).

        • Manned counter also requires physical card for cash out

  • $5/$100 for me

  • +1

Not for me unfortunately. Did I see correctly that now? Com yellow has been watered down and you need to do transactions to keep your benefits?

    • -1

      It always was like this.

      • No it wasn't.

        • It was happening in the background.

          • +3

@Pratty: There was none of this nonsense before it was called Yello or when i first name-changed to Yello. It was only when Yello Plus or whatever their wankery is called now was introduced we had to get different tiers onto this already shitty "rewards" program. It's barebones at best and hardly ever offers anything of value, amazing that they think it is worth walling into different tiers based on transactions and funds in account at all tbh. It was absolutely not requiring you to keep $500 in your account or make x number of transactions per month in the past as per your "it was always like this".

    • +1

There have been recent changes to the program including benefits and eligiblity requirements - [PSA] Commbank Yello Changes from June 2025

you need to do transactions to keep your benefits?

Monthly transactions have always been a requirement. Previously it was 5+ or 30+, now 5+ or 15+ combined with other requirements to qualify for Plus and Gold.

It remains to be seen whether the frequency and/or value of offers will change significantly.

  • $10 for $100 for me

  • $10 for $100 for me. Previously got offer $5 for $100 and ignored it, then go this one.

    Amazon gift card coming up

  • Nice another 5/50 for me

  • $10 for $100

  • Recently got yello gold with my home loan, and I haven't seen a single offer yet.

  • Cashout Time again

    • that's worked for you in the past?

      • Didn't work once before, but worked last 3 times

  • Have Yello Plus and have zero offer from coles TT

  • cba app underoing upgrades

  • Nice another 5/50 for me!

  • So it seems Coles no longer sells Amazon gift cards. Does anyone know if I purchase a Coles Master card in store

1 - Is there an activation fee?
2 - Can I use the card online eg. to buy an amazon gift car?

    Thank you in advance.

    • +1

Or just cashout instead as per previous comments.

      • Can you do cash out on a credit card? Isn't that equivalent to a cash advance and has higher fees?

        • My bad for assuming you had a debit card. If you only have a credit card then you will not be able to cash out.

          • +1

@UrMumsOnlyFan: All good. Got an eftpos card from Coles with no fee (thanks @currentfad) and went and bought an Amazon gift card from Aldi

    • The EFTPOS gift card has no activation fee this week (refer to catalogue page 41)

  • Just realised I used savings account on my card. Anyone know if this will this still work?

    • +1

Pay with your eligible CommBank debit Mastercard or credit Mastercard or StepPay and tap or select credit

I believe the T&Cs are reasonably clear, so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't register.

    • +1

Nope, because Mastercard are paying for this. You used Eftpos - different network.

      • Mastercard are paying for this

I doubt that. It would be Coles and/or CommBank paying for this promotion.

The cashback has been paid to people who have taken cash out via EFTPOS SAV.

        • It’s a combination sure, but why would you have to use Mastercard? These are Mastercard deals, same as with other banks.

          • @Pratty: The T&C requiring to use Mastercard does not necessarily correlate to Mastercard paying for it. The fact that cashback has been paid on cash out would suggest that is not the case.

Cash out must use EFTPOS SAV and does not work if Mastercard debit is selected, and CommBank clearly sees and itemises on the statement that it is cash out.

            • @UrMumsOnlyFan: One other thing to note, regardless of why the T&C exists or who is paying for the promo, is that tapping an eftpos-enabled debit card does not guarantee that the transaction will be routed on the Mastercard (or alternatively Visa) network.

This is due to Least Cost Routing / Merchant Choice Routing, which the RBA has been pushing and is monitoring on a six-monthly basis. As at December 2024, LCR/MCR was available to 98% of CommBank's merchants and was enabled for 51% of them. (The figure is roughly the same for ANZ, and higher for NAB and Westpac.)

LCR/MCR is also available for card-not-present transactions (e.g. online purchases), though the figures are much lower (e.g. available to 54% of CommBank merchants but enabled for only 10%). However, both card-present and card-not-present adoption will presumably continue to grow over time.

Coles enabled LCR/MCR against Visa debit cards way back in 2019, although it's not immediately obvious what the situation is between Coles and Mastercard.

Notably, Chemist Warehouse enabled LCR/MCR against Mastercard debit cards even earlier in 2018. The CW Yello offer still includes the same T&C "and tap", even though tapping an eftpos-enabled debit card will not route via the Mastercard network at CW.

    • I would expect it's possible considering cash out (EFTPOS SAV) works.

      • It hasn’t consistently. Also are you sure of this? Are people somehow using their Mastercard for the cash out?

        • +1

Cash out has been used and discussed since at least July 2024 (in fact a little earlier), and is mentioned in the majority of Yello Coles posts. Cash out has worked every time for me, also including Supabarn as well.

I can only recall two or three comments saying cash out didn't work (there could be more that I don't remember), but if it wasn't working consistently then there would be far, far more comments than that. (On one occasion I thought it hadn't worked, but it just took time.)

And I wouldn't necessarily infer anything from isolated instances such as above, where it didn't work once but did work other times. Cash out not working in an isolated case doesn't automatically imply a systematic pattern of unreliability.

A few people, myself included, actually had legit purchasing not work one time, but again that one case doesn't automatically imply a systematic pattern.
