ICYYW about using it for oldies.
Good: Fall protection/alerting
Bad: 18hr battery life.We need nuclear power apple watches
or kinetic energy, since its always on ur wrist and u are moving
Unless by moving you mean riding a bike that is connect to generator there's no way you are moving enough to charge a modern smart watch.
Bad: 18hr battery life.
this is the case with all AW except Ultra which can actually achieve a day to two days max.
for me anyway it was a instant no because of battery life.
pretty much all smart watches. pity because so many oldies or their kids talk about getting one for the fall alert….i point out the battery life and how they have to charge it every night, which is when they're likely to go to the bathroom an fall.
fall alert is not really a feature i look at for myself.
but Garmin's have great battery life. I have the Venu SQ does everything I need including tap to pay, except no replying to messages.
actually I do remember a similar sounding feature on the SQ, it was called "Incident detection" or something. probably isn't fall alert though, but more expensive garmin's might have it.I am looking at a suitable watch for elderly family member myself but overlooked the fall detection. I am thinking of Garmin Instinct 2 with 28 days battery.
their requirements were "time always visible" and "charging less often than once per week, and also can sometimes forget" so that ruled out OLED Garmin's.
GPS + Cellular model is also on sale for $409.

Noting that the Cellular model is required for Kids Mode, as well as separate mobile plan (e.g. BetterRoaming for $99/yr).
No payments with watch on Kids Mode :( Wish Apple Cash came to Aus.
Still a good deal tho.
