Cheap but good leather shoes from Hush Puppies. I own 3 pairs of RM but since buying these cheap shoes from Hush Puppies, I stopped wearing them. These are pretty good.

Hush Puppies are lighter and 2 of my RMs have been around for like 5 years so they show a significant sign of wear at the front so they don't look as good.
I own 3 pairs of RM but since buying these cheap shoes from Hush Puppies, I stopped wearing them.
Huh? $50 boots over 3 pairs of $300 boots?
Well I don't think they were ever 49 dollars. Usually go for just under 100 bucks. They are honestly not bad and they are light so easy and comfortable to wear to walk around consulting rooms and so on. And no, I got each of my RMs for like 500+ bucks. Wish they were 300 bucks.
These things last maybe 3-4 months before falling apart if you do any moderate walking to and from work. The idea of someone using these instead of RM's is hilarious if tehy already own the RM's. The whole point of RM's is with moderate care, they will last for 20+ years easy. I have a pair that is 12 years old and looks great still. Another that is 8 years old and perfect. Bit of leather conditioner and polish and they go for ages. My old hush puppies before I bought my RMS would never make 6 months of ordinary wearing. And that was before they went insanely cheapo with construction.
My pair are still looking good after 6 months 4 days a week and zero care
You're lucky. I went through 3 pairs and the heels just fall off, because they're glued, not stitched. Got over it and bought RM's have not had an issue since.
@ONEMariachi: Fair enough, that's a bummer. I have a pair of RMs (CC) as well and while they're more comfortable, I find the heel too tall and they're a bit too heavy to wear daily.
@ONEMariachi: Well I think each person's experience seems to differ. I alternated between 2 RMs for 5 years and it was very heavy usage with very long hours on each day moving around consulting rooms and so on. I have even changed the soles for one pair paying almost 200 bucks. Then I bought my third pair early last year for like 600 bucks. I still wear my RMs very occasionally in winter but I think they are too heavy and thick to wear in summer. Since switching to Hush Puppies since mid last year, I now alternate among 4 pairs and the wear on each pair for a year so far has been very minimal and they have been comfortable and light to wear especially in summer. At the rate that they are going, I can really see these 4 pairs lasting many years, perhaps outlasting 2 RMs that lasted about 5 years. 4 pairs mind you only cost 300 bucks at most which is only half of the cost of one RM.
@lyoo01: You sound like you work for Hush Puppies. There is simply no universe that cheap chinese shoes are outlasting RM's or any other goodyear welted boot in any capacity whatsoever. These are glued, garbage. This is the dumbest thing I've ever read.
@ONEMariachi: There are tens of people vouching for their decent quality at this price point on this page alone. Ridiculous accusation. If you haven't carefully read what I said, I said that 4 of these would outlast 2 RMs and I stand by that comment based on how they are going at the moment. Again, YMMV
@lyoo01: I read what you said. It's still complete nonsense. I couldn't care less what the average cheapskate on this site thinks about shoe quality.
There is no universe that cheap glued, basic leather shoes like Hush Puppies are outlasting RM's even at 2 to 1 buying. I'd bet it at 5 to 1 and they'd lose. Especially since they offshored their production. 15 years ago Australian made ones couldn't do that, their new garbage production values versions especially can't do that. If you're not a shill, then you've never actually owned RM's or any goodyear welted shoe. You're a liar and charlatan.
I'm a heavy user of my boots, and as I said before my RM's are 12 years old and I'd still bet them to outlast against your new hush puppies. There is no universe that you are using RM's to the point where they are unwearable after 5 years, and a hush puppy is keeping up with that kind of usage even at 2 to 1. It's simply not physically possible for glued shoes to do that. You're completely full of it.
This.
OP totally defeated the BIFL purpose of owning RMs and bought boots that will eventually end up in landfills instead.
Another corporate bro that bought into the fad without understanding the true value behind these boots.
Maybe I didn't make myself very clear in the opening statement that 2 of my RMs have been heavily used and almost beyond proper functioning state. I have taken my best to take care of these shoes, even replacing the soles for one pair. But when the cost of replacing soles is equivalent to getting 2-3 pairs of Hush Puppies which I think will outlast one RM, it is really a no brainer for me. As I repeatedly said, I found these comfortable and decent quality for the price and they showed very minimal sign of wear over the last year. YMMV
They're 100% a shill. They say they use the RM's up in a heavy capacity. Goodyear welted high quality leather, yet somehow their glued cast off leather quality shoe is outlasting them. They're completely full of it. Simply walking to my train stop and work would make these things fall apart.
@ONEMariachi: I hate to be rude, at this point I honestly doubt he owns RMs at all. Or rather if he does own them, he bought them without the correct longevity mindset.
If you were to shell out good money for a pair of RMs, let alone 3 pairs, you would’ve done some level of due diligence when it comes to care and maintenance.
A good cobbler will do a polish and heel replacement for under $100 these days, here in Perth, my go to city cobbler fixes a pair up for $50, he basically buffs out any scratches as part of the service as well. A full sole replacement is hardly ever required for city walks/office use. Depending on the number of pairs you rotate and how uneven you pronate, heels should last anywhere from 1-3 years. OP claims to have 3 pairs that are too beaten to wear? I own 4 pairs personally, 3 ccs, and 1 DF. 1 cc still in box that I bought on sale, so like OP, I rotate 3 pairs. 2 black and a brown. I always use shoe trees when they’re in storage. I’ve owned all 4 pairs since 2013, so 12 years now and they still look as good as new. One of my black pairs has the old school yellow pull tabs on them, so a modern vintage pair from the LVMH ownership days.
I’ve never had to buy any other boots in the time I’ve owned my RMs. I’ve gotten so used to them, I’ve retired my other good year welted shoes, mostly meermins, loakes.
@plentifoo: I hear you dude. I said the same thing to them. I have a 12 year old black pair and 8 year brown pair. They both look fantastic still, and honestly I don't even go as far as you do in looking after them. I mostly pop leather conditioner and polish on them every 1-2 months and that's about it.
They definitely do not own RM's, the logic simply does not stack up. There's absolutely no likelihood that someone wearing out RM's(or literally any full grain leather goodyear welted boot) that quickly is using hush puppies to the same degree and them coming anywhere near close to surviving as long as RM's, it's pure nonsense.
@ONEMariachi: I am sorry that my experience with RMs don't stack with yours and I didn't intend to call them out being poor.
RMs are the first proper full grain leather boots that I bought in my mid 20s and I must admit that I haven't taken the best care of my first 2 boots (Dynamic Flex Craftsman boot and Yard boot 365). Unfortunately due to my lack of care, they really don't look good any more due to damage at the front. The third one (Craftsman boot) is what I still occasionally wear for important occasions or events and due to lessons learnt, it looks as good as new. But I am not going to risk it and wear it everyday. Additionally, it's a leather sole so it will probably wear out more quickly.
If you need the absolute proof that I own these, I am happy to send you guys pics of receipts and the pictures of the 3 RMs that I own but there is no reason for me to lie that I own RMs just to make Hush Puppies look better. I have made it abundantly clear that RMs are better but the way that I use it now, several Hush Puppies would last longer. It's not a fair comparison in some sense because I don't really wear my first 2 RMs anymore.
Last deal the boot was a shocker. The material they used are cheap as a lemon.
If you are used to wearing RMs or other really reputable brands, you may feel that these are lighter and definitely flimsier but at this price, I think it's good to give it a go and return if it's not up to standard.
No doubt the price is a bargain that is why I bought 2 different size to try and end up returning both.
You mean… cheap product is sold at cheap price?
ie, not a bargain.
No, I didn't mean that. They are definitely not as highly regarded as RM but it should be priced higher than what it is being sold for i.e. 49 dollars. I don't think these were ever 49 dollars or even around this price but correct me if I am wrong. I have 4 other Hush Puppies which are usually priced at a similar point i.e. just under 100 bucks and they have been pretty good for me at this price point. At 49 dollars, it's a bargain in my book.
These are a roughly $100 pair of boots for sale at $49. They're relatively low end, but at a fairly decent discount from their usual price, it's not a hard concept.
Correct. I stopped buying hush puppies 4 years ago when i complained to them about leather quality and they denied it and refused to refund.
OP - how does the sizing compare to RM?
My RM sizing across all 3 is US 9 and that would be perfect fit for RM. For these, I go US 8.5 but still feel slightly loose. So maybe 0.5 or 1 size down.
I've been wearing these daily in the office for the last year. Been pretty happy with them but have never worn an RM..
I've just ordered another pair, thanks OP!Are these soles soft or do they feel quite firm? I have the Hushies in the Chelsea boot and they are very soft and forgiving, plus as mentioned by lyoo01 they are a light boot
Soft, and primarily the reason i like them.
I tried other brands of boots at the likes of Myer/DJs but they were pretty firm and rigid
Great deal
I bought it like $89 + Cashrewards last year, still in the box 🙄
Yeah I was going to buy at that price then I realised I have too many Hush Puppies. And this shoes can be bought at that price at least few times a year so I didn't feel the strong urge to jump at that price. At this price, it's no brainer for me. All the Hush Puppies that I own cumulatively cost less than one RM.
Nice Price
I paid $90 for the black ones and can recommend. Wearing them today at the office.
Unfortunately black ones are more expensive now than when you posted the deal. :(
Is this shoe true to size?
I wear US 8 adidas but this one have to buy US 7
Measure your foot and compare to chart to be sure
I bought a pair of these HPs a few months ago for abt 80 and they have been good. The sole is a little slippery in rainy conditions (not as slippery as a leather sole however). They are holding up well so far and for this price they are a steal. They go well with the slightly less formal look for office wear these days.
I have a number of shoes of a bench grade from makers such as Churchs', Loake etc but am happy to wear some more knockabout footwear like these for everyday office use.
Good to know. I also have a few Loakes and Herrings, but the price to get it resoled is way more than the cost of these.
Will get my Loakes and Herrings refurbished one day.
Just make sure you go to a proper old school cobbler that will stitch a new sole on not just glue one on as some will prefer to do - that would be disastrous
I ordered this in May and I'm still waiting, I thought AMZON was supposed to be fast!
Can you cancel and reorder at this price?
I probably could, but then I'm worried I get pushed back another month - apparently they will get shipped out on the 23rd
Support should be able to help you out and at least give you a voucher for the difference
I'd also cancel and re-order.
Where do you live?
I can get mine delivered today but delayed delivery to tomorrow as another item in my cart can only be delivered tomorrow. Helping save the environment one less delivery at a time.
Hmm, I always wear black but this price is tempting.
What colour pants go with dark brown shoes?
Dark brown goes well with most colours. Beige looks best IMO, but goes well with navy blue as well. Black pants work, but doesn’t look as great.
Pretty much anything except Black or white really.
These are good and comfy. I wear them with no issues compared to my colleague who complains about comfort in his RMs. Is this ATL?
Thanks OP, starting a new job on Monday and needed new shoes so the timing was perfect!
I am tempted to buy it for daily work when it was $89 ish last month. I never use this kind of boots before.
I tried my size in myer but then I ended up not buying.now with $49, I pressed click without thinking lol
will see how it goes, thanks OPIf I'm typically a US9 would US8 be the way to go? Seeing some posting either half or full size down
I'm also typically a US9, I wear these in 8.5 and it's comfy. I reckon you could get away with either one.
Thanks mate, i was going to go 8.5 though Amazon has the price at $120 despite the size offerings showing $49.
I'll roll the dice with the 8's lets see how it goes
Sizes 8.5 9.5 and 13 are back to 120 now
Thanks!
I purchased some Hush Puppies Men's Wisconsin Boot, Cognac. last week, haven't even tried them on.
But for $49 I'll give this a go. Different colour.
FYI Prices changed (on some sizes); just when I had it in cart too.
Thanks Op, got a pair, worth a try for $49.
Thanks OP, ordered one and will be returning the recently bought pair that I got for $91.
I bought these a couple of weeks ago when all the Hush Puppies deals were posted and haven't worn yet, so have refunded that order and re-bought. If I am happy with the ones I already have, is it likely if I contact Amazon they would to just issue a credit instead?
Grrr. CS said I have to return to get the price difference and my size is more expensive.
It's a decent shoe though.
Don’t know about anyone else but they’re $120 for me :/
Yeah was $50 before, then it got updated.
Only 12 US is $49 for me
I think expired
you have to select other sellers which will bring it down to $49+delivery($0 for prime members)
Hows the cognac colour compare with the chestnut RM's? Im trying to look for a cheaper pair to wear at work but want a similar colour.
Images on the website show darker hues. Actual is lighter. Have a look at the reviews with photos to get better idea
Thanks OP. Went a size down. Hope it fits well. 🤞
Hush Puppies are very comfortable and reasonably durable shoes.
I have a couple of non-boot shoes of them for 5 years or so and both still good.
Actual foot size.Shows $120-$131 now. Guess Oos
yes looks like OOS, and for this higher price it saying only 1 in stock for Cognac Burnish
Yep. It seems like it. I marked it OOS for now.
Only Cognac 12US left at this price now.
sold out
I confirmed the order and now it say "Payment revision needed".
When try to look into the order, it says "UH - OHSomething went wrong at our end."
Anyone having the same issue?
I added one US 8.5 to the cart and then saw that the price rose to $120, but my cart was still showing $49.
Completed the checkout and shows order received, with an email saying "Order received, We will email you when we have an estimated delivery date."
However it does still show the US 8.5 in stock now but for $120, wonder if they'll honour it.Same. It's Amazon though so there is some hope
I opened up a help chat and was replied by a bot, it said this:
We're just about to ship this order, and it's on track to be delivered by Monday, 4 Aug.
Looks like your order is now being packed for shipment and we expect it to get to you by Monday, 4 Aug.Better late than never haha, but there is an option to cancel if you wanted it
Ha ha, same!
@zxcvb: I ended up chatting to a support agent and they said there were stock issues, please give it up to 4 days to update the order.
Coincidentally I just got an email saying it's been shipped, 4 hours later.@MyEducation: Thanks, no such luck for me, rep said to wait until 4th aug due to low stock and they are attempting to source more stock.. Let's see, fingers crossed.
Can someone guide me if it is true to sizing or better to order size up. Cheers
Full size down
oos
I got these but didn’t like the yellow stitching, found Norris boot looked better and more comfortable
Got these the last time they were on ozb, and contrary to what most people are saying akut them being bad quality mine are great. I've been recommending them to everyone.
Super comfortable to walk in, and no issues with wear and tear.
At this price point absolute no brainier.
Highly recommended.
Spewing, missed it! If anyone got extras and has a US7/7.5/8 that you are going to send back pls lmk and I'd be happy to take them off you and obviously pay for postage etc. Cheers!
stock return but price back…. keep missing the good deal
I got mine. Quality seems ok but can’t tell until I wear them for a few weeks.
I didn’t realise the toe cap was so round. Didn’t check all the photos. Click first…. I prefer the shape of the Hush Puppies Men's Wisconsin Boot.
Oh well, for $50 can’t go wrong
OP why are you wearing these ones over RMs? Are they more comfortable?
