AirTag 2 will probably be released September. Also the only way to get these "engraved" is to order from Apple.

    • -1

      Not the only way!

      • +1

Apple's engraving is like printing on the white plastic. Using an engraver on it would look bad, unless you're a skilled artist.

  • seems all time low?

ATL would be ~$99 during those eBay Flash Sales.

      • Hey RichardL, what happened to that charger deal ? I saw you post removed.

        • +1

Code still not live/doesn't work, so removed it.

Reposted as a new deal, as code is live now.

          • @RichardL: Thanks mate, I saw it now, late to the party. looks like they have very less QTY

  • going to europe in a month, are these worth getting to throw in your luggage/backpack in case something goes wrong?

    • +5

      Yes

    • 100x Yes

I carry an iPhone 12 Mini as a second phone mostly for Airtags alone (the other being the 7/11 choppa). The network effects of the Apple userbase makes Airtags invaluable if things get lost. Or worse stolen.

I got one in my car, my bag, my gaming PC in case it gets stolen from home, and my keys. I hook my wallet to my pants with a coiled cable.
And if needed I also pry open the Airtags to disable the speaker, so they stay silent.

    • Definitely but look up a YouTube video on how to remove speaker to before packing

      • I’ve never used an air tag before. Why would I want to remove speaker? Cant it be disabled?

  • Anyone got a good set of batteries for this?

    • +3

They’re just CR2032. I buy cheap 10packs from Amazon and they work fine. I think my last order was Maxell.

    • heard there are rechargeable versions from amazon

Is it still worth getting if I don't hv iPhone?

    • System Requirements and Compatibility

      Apple Account
iPhone and iPod touch models running iOS 14.5 or later
iPad models running iPadOS 14.5 or later

Please just launch the Gen 2s man I NEED that U2 chip

    • any worthy updates in U2?

      • It depends, one feature cyclists depend on for tracking lost bicycle will be gone. Then original AirTag will be sought after object.

  • Seems a good price. I have both the Apple AT and also Ugreen tracker with find my from the Amazon deal the other day.
So far, I think the Ugreen is a better product. Just missing that precision finding that the AT has however, that does not bother me.
The Ugreen seems to update location more often then my AT’s

    • +1

Can the sound be disabled on the ugreen?

      • +1

Sure can, easier then the AT in my opinion

        • So the ugreen won’t do that unwanted sound thing that the AirTags do?

  • battery keeps going flat on mine - anyway to stop this happening? mostly on car keys.

    • Where did you get the replacement batteries from, mine works fine for like a year or so in thr key ring.

  • Can I remove the speaker easily?
