these are the old commercial models that only connect to the backpack battery. they dont connect to the normal batteries.

    • So why are they supplying normal battery that is nuts.

      • Because you can mount the battery to backpack. I have one this back pack and ue 5 or 7.5Ah batteries with it -

        • Yeah i know that but most people don't have a backpack so i don't think they will rush out and buy one just to use this trimmer.

          • @paulaus: Most people aren't buying a commercial trimmer either, so your point is irrelevant.

News Flash, not all things are for all people.

    • This is incorrect…. you can use a normal battery AND a backpack; from the product description:

Compatible with the EGO POWER+ Backpack Link & Commercial Series Backpack Battery

Logically, why would Ego say it's "compatible" if the backpack battery was a requirement?

      • You can't just connect the battery in the redemption to the trimmer you need a backpack that you connect the redemption battery to and then connect a lead from the backpack to the trimmer.

        • Right, so you're saying people need to buy multiple backpacks rather than multiple tools and just one backpack, that makes sense, sure……

        • Not sure why I came back to this again, but upon further review of the product video, you appear to be correct.

Only the backpack can connect to trimmer. The batteries obviously connect to the backpack.

          My apologies.

    • whats the point in this video? it shows the reverse of what this product needs
