[Perks] LG 65" OLED EVO G5 AI UHD 4K Smart TV (2025) $3395.75 (RRP $5295) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

310

Perks coupon required.

Same price as the C5 77 but the main issue is the ongoing issues with input lag/HDR with the C5. I opted for the G5.

Made this post so people can make an informed decision/comparison.

Both reviews mention the HDR issues but updated video suggests G5 is fixed and only partial fix for C5

  • Those who are looking for 77", price match could be done with Videopro and Perk discount on top bringing down to $5,098

    • JB won't stack the perks code with a price match though will they?

      • It says advertised price but might work with a custom invoice.

        • I just price matched the 65" G5 in JB with Video pro listing but they included shipping. Still got a few dollars out of it

@goodwillN1: Were you also able to use the 15% perks coupon? I could price match but they won't let me use the perks 15%.

            • @VvaughnVillain: Yes, I could. Also did the soundbar bundle but the perk only applied to the tv price (sadly after the 1k soundbar discount so lost $100 on that)

            • +1

@VvaughnVillain: Yeah same, JB HiFi online won't allow you to stack a perks discount on top of a price match. Will go in store and try my luck

              • @merajaan: Online agent just asked me if I have perk code, I said said yes. He just got the price for me. Which was price-matched and perk code applied.

  • There have been further improvements to the C5 since that video:

UPDATED JUN 17, 2025: We retested many aspects of the TV after firmware 33.11.35. We confirmed that the HDR Native Gradient issues in HDR10 have been corrected in Filmmaker Mode, and that the TV's SDR Color Volume and PQ EOTF Tracking have been improved. We also retested the TV's HDR Color Volume and Upscaling, but didn't see any improvements.

Yeah watch the full video. It's either HDR or input lag.

      • -3

The input lag and HDR issues were fixed or significantly improved about 1 week ago, the video is 3 weeks old

        • +2

No my dude. The first video. It's 5 hours old.
Yes, there are fixes. Issues remain especially input lag.

          • @mthucs: input lag and HDR issue is fixed BUT in Filmmaker mode only it appears at least on the G5.

What remains is that it's still a very basic WOLED panel in terms colour volume, but sadly so is every Samsung S90F except the 55", so this year is definitely a choice between the G5 and S95F for 65" and 77" buyers.

The LG has sometimes better software, slightly better processing for low bitrate content, and a glossy screen with Dolby Vision support (though HDR10+ adoption rates are soaring), but if you're doing any bright room viewing you'll prefer the S95F due to its reflection handling.

The matte finish is vastly improved and doesn't seem to impact dark room viewing at all.

A big plus for LG is their support and warranty. I received firmware updates for my LG CX for 3.5 years, adding more features and picture quality improvements. My Samsung S90C on the other hand stopped issuing firmware updates after just 12 months. LG G5 also has a 5 year warranty and in my experience LG have repaired my TV out of warranty as well. I had to threaten Samsung with ACL action before they did anything

      • Whats special about the 55" s90f?. Is it not a WOLED layout?

I've been using a C2 for a few years, was looking around to see if there were any new OLED panels with a more traditional RGB layout.

        • +1

Correct, the 55" S90F is the only one for that model line-up in Australia which is using a QD-OLED, making it the only Samsung-branded glossy QD-OLED here this year.

Brightness is a big step back from the S95F, but still highly usable, and comparable to last year's S90D, just benefits from the new chip and its processing capabilities.

  • Moving the old Sony. Anyone recommend a basic plug in (chromecast style) adapter that has a built in PVR that can record Free to Air via an aerial input?

Dont want an ugly set top box. hoping there is something that can plug in/ run off the USB in the back and record to an SD card.

Ie. what every other TV has built in, except for Sony!

Thanks OP for sharing this! I managed to score a deal I’m really happy with. Picked up the 65" G5 bundled with the S95TR. I got JB Hi-Fi to price match the S95TR to $1275 from Video Pro, and with the $1000 bundle discount, I paid $3821(was not charged for delivery) for both. Normally they don’t price match items in a bundle, and the first JB store I visited wouldn’t do it—but the next one did!

    • Any chance you could share what store you had luck with, that is a cracker of a deal!

      • +1

Yeah, a receipt would be great. This bundle is exactly what I’m after too

        • Sorry for the late reply guys. I got mine from JB Hi-Fi Home at Browns Plains. I know the Perks discount ended yesterday, but keep an eye out—since the bundle offer runs until around June 30, there’s still a good chance of the same or even better deals popping up this Thursday or Saturday. Also, feel free to try price matching using my receipt. Good luck, guys!

          Hope this is helpful,
          receipt
