Noticed this deal in HN. Looks pretty decent gaming laptops for the price.

Of course it should. Are you expecting manufacturers to somehow get a desktop GPU into a laptop?
What type of laptop would a GPU like this go into if it's not a gaming laptop?
Sure this thing won't be a beast graphics wise, but what are you expecting for $1300?
RTX4060 laptops have been sold for less in the past.
I'm not seeing your point.

Thats literally a 4060 laptop.
What's literally a 4060 laptop?
@wombat81: The 4060 laptop chip is pretty much 1:1 exactly the same as the Desktop variant, even the power limits are the same. The only difference is the 4060 laptop chip has more L2 Cache enabled and it uses slightly slower memory. In fact, the laptop chip is better than the Desktop version since it has more cache enabled. Other than that, yeah, 1:1 with the desktop chip. So we do expect a Desktop GPU in a laptop.
A 4060 would be good. Granted the CPU is quite weaker but it it's the GPU that will do the heavy lifting in most gaming applications anyway.

Well, that's literally a thing. Second, 4050 is just e-waste, is my point.
4050 = e-waste LOL. Here's me still getting full use out of a RX580. When did ozb turn into elitistbargains?
Well, that's literally a thing.
How many laptops are capable of supplying full power to a desktop graphics card?
4050 is just e-waste, is my point.
So if it's not a 5090 it's not worth buying? Dude, please. Talk about elitist.
I agree that it's not a great deal, but to carry on the 4050s are e-waste is ridiculous.

Strawman bro. You were the one who claimed desktop GPUs in laptops. I'm just saying, well that's actually a thing.
The point is that this is simply not a good deal for an RTX 4050 6 GB. Take it or leave it lmao
It has a stand-alone GPU is normally what it means. A quick google shows it outputting a very playable Cyberpunk 2077:

Hmm, a 6-core i9… what's the point?

Is this a true IPS screen and not those IPS level screens?
To get a decent screen on a laptop, you have to pay at least 2.5K AUD usually for a gaming laptop. For a regular laptop, some of the 1.4K AUD ones have an OLED screen. This model is probably an IPS screen but a low quality one with 64% sRGB coverage and trash tier 300-400 nit brightness.
6GB RTX 4050 Mobile GPU and "gaming laptop" shouldn't ever be in the same sentence
