If you'd just shared the deal, that's one thing. Sharing the deal and saying Sky is better than the ABC was almost certainly the reason it's been dogpiled.

The ABC is objectively the most trusted news source in Australia, and ranks very highly on global indexes for highly factual and unbiased reporting.

Murdoch media outlets are notoriously low on both of those criteria, having famously defended themselves in court on at least two occasions that their content was entertainment rather than news reporting, and that no reasonable person would have taken their content to be a representation of fact.

        • +5

Facts aren't subject to opinion, which is why "News" should have been in quotes.

          • -5

@Make it so: k bro you probally are happy to teach your kids about lbtq and make them question sexuality

            • +4

@FrugalSquid: It's LGBTQ. And yes, I support questioning and critical thinking.

              • -4

@Make it so: Sigh all this "critical thinking" and we wonder why mental illnesses is at an all time high. Mind you these are both symptoms of the same problem. Creating weak children

              • +2

@Make it so: But you’re not ok with Skynews presenting a different view to that which aligns with your ideology.

                Independent, always… aren’t you.

                • +2

@iWan: It's not opinions I have an issue with. It's lies presented as fact, i.e. misinformation. As above, facts aren't subject to opinion.

                  • +2

@Make it so: I have the same feels about ABC, yet I am wrong. Can’t you see some irony here.

          • @Make it so: So ABC “News” 24?

        • +2
        • You fascist monster!

    • +5

I'm a bit upset cos I spent a fair amount of time typing up this deal, finding links etc

you cut & pasted a press release & linked to the Slynews subscription. + the press released published by mumbrella
..oh sorry added some bait about being better then the ABc. 🙄 About as much effort as this comment.

Funnily enough those of us outside of the capital cities already get it for free. But cheers, I know people who actually pay $8/mth for this.

Lastly like the ABC this is.so.Taxpayer funded. NewsCorp hasn't paid corporate tax in Australia since 2018. Yet they receive govt money for sport, get govt subsidies for newspapers +which they've closed down). they receive.the biggest share of the media bargaining code money, the money Google used to pay in tax was diverted into paying that instead.

      I kinda give up.

Thanks, the world is better without such deals being shared

  • Thanks OP, I refuse to watch the ABC. Don't mind a bit of Sky.

    • +2

ABC mind virus belongs in the toilet with the project!

  • +7

Should post the other 300 channels as deals while you’re at it.

    • +3

Imagine posting this when you could have posted the real deal of a free Baywatch channel.

    Weird, even for OzBargain…

  • Propaganda. Infotainment at best, deranged culture warring and irrationality at worst. And that's being generous.

  • Should've posted the free Red Bull IPTV channel instead.

  • I have band sky news. I wouldn't even if they have paid me to watch them.

  • +1

When I came across sky news clips on YouTube, I instantly skipped the clips, I wouldn't watch it if they paid me, let alone paying $5 per month to listen to thier bias news podcast or watching it free on TV.

  • Better than ABC LOLLLLLL

    • +1

May be they meant ABC kids and this is equivalent for adults in OP’s mind.

    • -5

I pay my taxes for that woke rubbish to brain wash people. Ridiculous!

  • +2

    Rubbish, brain wash tv

  • +2

Really. This disgusting rag of a news source? I have a major issue with this when it is more of a propaganda factory than it is a “news” source. I don’t know why this toxic media outlet hasn’t been shut down by ACMA.

And boom, just like that, all my daily comment negs are gone.

    • +2

Have a major issue with my taxes funding the ABC brain washing machine rather than putting heating in public primary school classrooms… but hey, we’re all entitled to our opinions, aren’t we.

  • +1

Not a deal - not a real news source.

  • Misleading deal because you actually need to buy a Samsung or LG TV before you can make use of this, so it's not actually free.

    • +1

I tried that logic with a "deal" posted for some movie Oppenheimer that only had a few days left on Netflix. I witnessed Olympic mental gymnastics, the likes of which would make Raygun blush, to justify that it was a deal and it remained published.

Lol at all the lefties losing it! Give me Sky News any day of the week. Defending the illegally biased to the left, ABC, what a joke! Remember when they did the 3 part special on the biggest political scandel of the century i.e. fake Russian and Trump collusion rubbish to steal the 2016 election? Where was their apology for getting it so wrong? Where was the 3 part series on the Hunter Laptop scandal? Oh that's right, didn't fit the narrative so they swept it under the rug! Pathetic! And oh yeah, they ridiculed everyone for saying covid leaked from a lab, and again, no apology for getting it so wrong.. :(.

    • -2

Got my upvote in before the wokies HAMMER YOU with their powerful mind virus negs!

    • Sky news reports factually incorrect articles/stories regularly. If you like factually incorrect news that suits your ideals, then that's fine, but you could at least admit it.

      • Booooooring.

Go watch the ABC machine push some liemate change hysteria down your throat.

        • +1

I never said anything about ABC. I’m just saying that by itself, why would you choose a news source that gets things wrong more often than not, and has a heavy bias towards its owners ideals, nearly all of which just want you to believe what they believe by feeding targeted advertisements and headlines that suit a narrative?

At the end of the day, sky news only cares about making money, and they know making false headlines that feeds your own narrative will get clicks, they choose that over actual factual and unbiased news.

          • -1

@onlinepred: You’re making some big statements about their factually incorrect reporting.

My opinion on this is that most if not all news sources have a bias. We are naturally more sensitive to those that are against our values and gravitate towards those that align.

            • +3

@iWan: That’s why Sky news tailored its stories to its readers though right? ABC News will publish stories even to its own detriment. Sky News wouldn’t do that as its primary focus is making money. In my opinion ABC is more in the middle to the left, while sky news is extreme right in terms of bias.

              • -1

@onlinepred: So this is the unconscious bias that I am eluding to in your posts.

Anyway, my life motto is you do you. So go well son!

                • +2

@iWan: Why don’t you live by your motto instead of calling others a hive mind for not being extreme right?

              • +2

@onlinepred: The ABC wouldn't survive if it wasn't almost entirely funded by taxpayers. How embarrassing. To make matters worse, they are so heavily slanted they only cater to the warped segment of our population. The ABC should've been disbanded decades ago before the rot set in.

                • +3

@Lets Go Brandon: That’s the point of it, it isn’t required to make money, it just tells the news. Not embarrassing, and they aren’t heavily slanted. It just appears that way of you are heavily slanted and looking in.

                • +2

                  @Lets Go Brandon:

The ABC wouldn't survive if it wasn't almost entirely funded by taxpayers.

That's precisely the point of the ABC - to have zero obligation to advertisers, shareholders etc and thus be able to report on any issue without fear or favour.

To make matters worse, they are so heavily slanted they only cater to the warped segment of our population.

The ABC is required by charter to be fair, balanced and politically neutral. They are held to that standard very rigorously and have been independently audited for bias many times over the past 20 years…..and on every single occasion, they have been cleared of systemic bias and unbalanced reporting.

That's not to say that individual articles, reports etc haven't been pulled after failing to meet the standard required - which is exactly as it should be.

There is no other news source in the nation that is held to such a high standard, nor does any other media agency in the country hold internationally-recognized fact-checking status. This is why the ABC is by far the most trustworthy source of news in the nation.

TLDR: If you consider it highly biased, it's because you are the problem.

            • +2

@iWan: Congratulations on finally making a post that isn't (self confessed) trolling.

I wasn't aware there were so many Australia haters inhabiting OzBargain. They really came out in numbers tonight - I guess it was too cold outside to protest for Palestine or some other insignificant matter.

    • +2

Isn’t Sky News anti Australia? Feeding profits offshore and being owned by Americans?

Glad Murdoch isn’t classed as an Australian these days.

  • +1

Free is still too expensive for this brain rot. Thinly veiled attempt at news that hides a significant amount of bias and opinion. Industrial scale rage baiting is the best way to summarise it.

After watching some of it, you start to wonder are they aware of what they are saying, are they brain washed or are they simply that desperate for a paycheck that they will say anything.

    • Better than Fox News.

    • Having been in TV for a long time, most of them have a fear of relevance deprivation syndrome, and being on TV makes them feel important—simple as that, mostly.
