Not sure this will be a deal for many people
You cant see the price for this plan on origins website but helpfully they have a separate plan at 12% less the VDO. Comparing this to what I can get from tango for example (should be the most favorable for origin I had in the last 6 months as it was lower power use then most of my others). Central VIC (Bendigo) on ToU tarriffs. No gas and electric only with no panels/battery.

    303 kw Peak x 30.8c = $93.32
    299kw O/Peak x 21.03 = $62.89
    Supply 103.4c/day x 28 days = $28.95

    Tango bill = $185.16

Same bill but Origin 12% off default (origin go variable)
    303 kw peak x 35.67 = $108.08
    299 kw O/Peak x 21.63 = $64.67
    Supply 115.83 x 28 days = $32.43

    Origin 12% off default = $205.24

12 months of this bill would be $240 worse off with origin. $150 in cashback wouldnt stack up.

In reality its actually more like $500 worse off if I swapped to this price as most months I use more energy (heating cooling etc).

Edit: Got the numbers in the tango supply charge moved around.

  • Where do I see electricity rates for this plan? Can't find this plan on their website. Only see these 3 plans - Origin Go Variable, Origin Everyday Rewards Variable, Origin Basic.

  • Smoke and Mirrors. So many hoops to jump through and they'll just put prices up next month anyway.

  • how do you find the upcoming rate changes? i assume the rates given on energymadeeasy link are current rates
