    Under the eggs too works

These are great for situations where you can't readily transport them back, but for regular use I'd go for a reusable hot pack - the kind that has a metal clicker disc inside and, once it's used, can be boiled to allow for reuse.

    • any recommendations??

NQR had some last year. $2 for a pack about the size of a pack of nerds.

I was skeptical but they work really well. They are more fragile so you probably can't do things like stick them in the toes of your socks, but I find them very useful in the mornings when I wake up with a headache. The heat they generate is limited to just above body temperature, so you can put them directly on skin without a barrier.

It was this type but the technology is generic so they should all be about the same

        • How long does the heat last?

          • @Vavoom: about 20 minutes. It's more of an instant heat than a long-term warmth.

I'm not great with the calculations, but from my napkin math it looks like you would need a ~1kg pack to equal a fresh 30g hothands pack (these spoil so fresh is best)

        • Maybe it's better if you have bulk packs but I found I had to boil them for so long to return to gel I was wasting a lot of power resetting these things. And maybe 30% of the time mine would "self pop" while cooling in the water and need to be reboiled. Probably fine if you've got 10 or so.

      Also greener to reuse

These work very well. Bought them last year (along withe full foot warmers) for Christmas at -20 deg C temps. You can kind of regulate the heat they give off with exposure to oxygen. This was was able to slow down the heat when not needed and speed it up when needed.

These things are excellent, I bought some HOTHANDS Adhesive Body Air Activated Warmer Up a few years ago, they helped me recover from tennis elbow.

Do gloves and socks no longer exist?

    Wasteful. Shame on you.

Better off buying the USB rechargeable hand warmers. Might cost about $30 but much more efficient. They don't need to be boiled (which takes much more energy than USB charging) and lasts for 8 hours or longer.

Everyone should checkout the ocoopa rechargeable hand warmers. I think they are just drop shipped from china so it's likely cheaper somewhere on ali-express. But they are pretty decent and reusable so not as SHIT bad for the environment(although batteries aren't a blessing either…) They also double as a phone charger if needed.

    • Bought these on Amazon for a friend and she uses them regularly in winter. Getting on for 2 years in and still going strong. Highly recommended.
