Kayo Sports Standard or Premium Subscription $1 for 1 Month (for New & Eligible Returning Customers) @ Kayo

480

At the moment Kayo is having a promotion of $1/first month ($30/month Standard or $40/month Premium afterwards) for new customer.

However I got an email Foxtel Now saying as an Foxtel Now's previous customer, I am eligible for this promotion too (as a returning customer to Kayo). This offer ends 30 June 25.

I plan to activate this on 29 Jun to cover the next 3 Formula 1 races (Austria, UK & Belgium).

Cheers.

$40/month for premium?? That's just too much.

    • they hoping they can get Norm to join and not leave

Take them up on the $1 offer. Use it for a month, then cancel. At some point during the cancellation, you will be offered 1/2 price for 12 months :)

You can also drop down to standard as well.

      • I took the free month they offered (after I took leave of them for a few months), then even before the month was up they offered $5 a month for 6 months.

Was perfectly timed for the rest of the AFL season and even early NFL.

If only they screened redone I'd stick around longer.

      • I didn't get offered that one. Mine was $5 a month for 3 months from memory.

    • +2

I'm enjoying every AFL game in 4k this year but yeah.

The father-in-law pays and lets me use the other screen. If you can split costs with someone for $20 then at two beers a month, it's more palatable.

  • +7

got slugged by them as I forgot to cancel. $40/mnth is fuggin ridiculous for any streaming service. Can't believe it's this that hard to watch AFL.

Oh well off to the high seas I go.

    • +2

It’s not hard to watch, just expensive.

        • +9

Who wants to watch all 9 games?

          • @eccaz: I'd watch at least 4 games/week. That's $2/game. Are you saying it's not worth $10/week to even watch your own team play? And have the option to watch every other game plus multiple other sports?

            • +1

@chiprillis: it's fairly expensive since many people don't want to watch multiple other sports

nba league pass is 24.99 a month, or $5.76 a week for a lot more games per team
for someone who just watches one AFL team I can see them not being that keen on it.

              • +1

@bohn: This. $40/mnth is ridiculous for one game a week at 4K, let alone my issues with the UX.

            • @chiprillis: Not when you can get a month for $1

      • +2

Unless you're a West Coast fan.

        • Was about to reply "Try being a Carlton fan", but that's 1 win we did have (just)!

        • +1

Being a West Coast fan has turned me into am avid watcher of other games during the round.

    • +1

Simply use the card with a few bucks in it. Problem sovled.

      • +2

And get an extra four weeks for free as failed transactions are attempted.

        • +1

          correct!

    • No need to wait till end, you can cancel right away after joining, watch the whole month without worrying. This is not trial so won’t cancel till end of month.

    • +4

So apart from the expense, the interface is dog shit, there are no chapter marks to skip all the pre game etc, you don't get access to the AFL games on Channel 7, and even if you tag your favourite team, it doesn't seem to highlight their latest games up front and centre, so yeh, for $40 months I'd expect a premium product to go with the premium price…

I only want it so my younger kids can watch their team play at a time that suits them, and otherwise we don't watch any other sport regularly.

I'd say in regards to the AFL, apart from the boatloads of cash they get for the broadcast rights, this is hurting their ability to get young players into the game…

I personally am not at or near the 'average income household' and I damn well can't justify that amount of money… so who knows how the average battler is supposed to watch footy, without going to the pub every weekend… not great for the family!

$10 just for AFL would make much more sense.

    • Implying it's hard to set a reminder in Google calendar.

As a current sailor, it's more than $1

    • They increased the price by 5 dollars from 1 July. I cancelled it, very rarely used it anyway to watch cricket.

  • Can watch cricket against West Indies on ESPN ??

    • +2

Yes, as long as you are awake. ;)

  • good trial for coming school holiday

  • +1

    $25 for me

  • +1

Got $30 premium for 12 months, $180 for the NRL season is ok.

  • +2

I plan to activate this on 29 Jun to cover the next 3 Formula 1 races (Austria, UK & Belgium).

    This is the way.

    • Serious question in this, why? They're on at bed o'clock unless you work unusual hours and there's plenty of ways to watch it by the time Australia wakes up…

      • +1

        4K
        And avoid spoilers

I will add that sky coverage shits me and is horribly exoensive. I wish we had the races on the F1 app like the yanks do, heaps cheaper.

      • +1

Similar to entropysbane but yes I work weird weekend hours so I'm up when the races are on (11pm-1am) and the free streams can be sketchy sometimes.

If I don't get a chance to watch the race then sometimes I wake up and check my DM's and someone's got the winner in their story or at least Piastri's position. Like, thanks. Even when I click I don't want to see their posts, it trickles back in at the worst time. Can't follow any f1 groups or pages either lol

I've had this offered to me twice now, I'd sign up for a month then submit a cancellation at which point it expires a month later, then a month or so down the track I get sent this offer. Is this a one off or a regular thing?

    • Hope so, that's what I've been doing… And had it for last 3 months for me now.

  • +3

I've had $1 offers for the past 3 months now.
And as soon as I sign up, I cancel again.
If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't bother.

  • +7

With sports content now divided between Stan and other streaming platforms, Kayo's pricing no longer reflects fair value.

  • +1

3rd time on this offer… but really if they just made it $10 a month just for footy and non of the other stuff which i couldn't care less about I'll be happy with it. Especially it's just the saturday night game that's exclusive, all the other prime time I can get from binge or 7.

    • -1

Yeah I pretty much just use it for F1 quali and races, not worth the full price

      • Only the Sunday race u have to pay, everything else including sprint race is free to watch.

  • This doesn't work for me… I get a message saying that as I already have an account with streammotion, this offer isn't available.

How do you guys get it if you already have an account?

    • Setup a new one if you have a spare SIM.

    Tivimate gang

    • @AFAR85 What is the playlist to get it working in Tivimate?

      • +1

You need a provider to give you one. Not free, not expensive.

    • +1

      GANGGANG

  • Had the same offer on my account and when I signed up they charged me $30 and when I contacted them they said they can't refund either. I cancelled the account with a loss of 30$. What a sh** service from kayo

    • +1

Makes no sense if you had the offer. I've been refunded in the past so would definitely be asking for a support manager to take over the ticket.

    • +1

Yeh definitely talking out their ass. Reply and ask for it to be escalated, and if no luck, then chargeback, ACCC and Consumer Affairs.

  • love it. new customer with boost mobile cashback every month. hope this continues.

  • I go halves with my brother but i will be trying the half price trick BlinkyBill posted.

I have a problem with Kayo on the Shield pro. I get low quality 960p 1499kbs so i need to clear the data and log back in every week to get 4K 24999kbs.

Hubbl, the worst company, especially when you try and unsubscribe
    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/hubbl

    • Not sure how this relates to Hubbl.

      • Hubbl is the parent company of Kayo, as well as BINGE, LifeStyle, and Flash.

        • I'll be honest, I didn't realise Streamotion became Hubbl.

      • +1

        Everybody's Hubbl'in

        • Hobblin’ hobblin’

  • Offered just after NBA (and NHL) season is finished

  • +1

I got a 2 month free sub from them via email. Signed up. Only going to use it for F1 then will cancel.
    So expensive!

  • Dont forget the7.5$ for a new kayo account from shopback

  • +1

Anybody else just been making new accounts every month? just buy cheap $7-$10 sim cards from woolies/coles, only a few more months of footy and i will have made it the whole season without paying that ridiculous $40

    • +1

i did it a few times yeah but ended up getting on the recent commbank yello offer for $15 a month. It was starting to become a pain. Needing different cards to pay, different emails to sign up and my olds accounts kept clashing with newer ones and throwing error messages.

      • +1

Fair enough, i did lose track of my accounts for second there and got confused for a day or two lol, I haven't had to change cards though… just using my revolut card and it hasn't flagged it.

  • Anyone have alternative methods to watch the F1 live?

It's way to expensive to watch a couple of times a month. Most of the time it starts buffering on me near the end of quali too.

  • -1

Noting that cancelling Kayo in Hubbl will get you a $5/mo discount for 6 months.

  • When I try to cancel, I get the message - 'Updating your subscription will remove the existing offer on this subscription. This will result in the offer being removed.'

    • +1

Yeah it's perfectly normal to say that. You still get to watch until the end of the cycle that you've paid for.

  • How to get the $1/month offer?
As a brand new customer, I can only see a 7-day free trial?

    Thank you,

  • Offer ends 30 June 25.
Does that mean it needs to be activated by 29 June?

  • According to https://help.kayosports.com.au/s/article/How-to-watch-Kayo-i…, you can only stream up to 1080p on PC, which is… certainly a choice in 2025 for a $40/mo service.

  • So after waiting until today to activate for the F1, it says I'm not eligible haha

    • Do you have multiple accounts? If so, make sure that you are logged out before clicking on the "Claim Special Offer" link (on email). Then log in using the email address that it was received on. I had the same issue but worked fine today (30th) once I logged into correct account. ALSO, I had to use PC as link failed to work on Android device.

      • Only ever had the one account, haven't used it in years

  • Nice, was able to activate offer using a newly created account with Telstra $39 Prepaid Sim Starter Kit - $0 Delivered @ Telstra… Thanks OP!

Also with @sween64's comment, I've used a 24 hour expiry virtual card to sign up, to hopefully get another 4 weeks with failed attempts to deduct sub after this promo period 😎

    • Question is whether you then get a bad credit rating from them as you would be in arrears and owe them $40? Unlikely I know but wonder how they manage unpaid accounts?

      • My intention is to stop my banking institute from going into overdraft. By setting up the virtual card for 24 hours, the details are supposed to disappear after 24 hours, therefore the details that I input to Kayo to set up the sub should be obsolete. Theoretically, they'll be trying to deduct from a card that doesn't exist. Let's see ✌️

        • It should work and (from memory) you will be emailed noting the outstanding amount owing. In turn you will be debt unless you cancel the subscription. What occurs after that is the question i.e. do they just cancel the account or leave it sitting with amount owing?

      • It's a good question. While technically you would probably owe them money, realistically they won't pursue you for it.
