[VIC, NSW, QLD, SA] $37 Electricity Credit in Aug for $30, $45 Credit in Sep for $30 @ Powershop

240

Details screenshot here

Great monthly offer again for this freezing winter. πŸ‘

πŸ”΅ Basically you prepaid $30 by 31 July for $37 worth of credit for your first bill issued on/after 1 August 2025, and prepaid $30 by 31 July for $45 worth of credit for your first bill issued on/after 1 Sep 2025.

(If you've purchased the now expired deal last month, plus this current deal, you would have saved $13+$7=$20 in total for your Aug bill!)

πŸ”΅ You may use your federal gov rebate or whatever credit you have to purchase, which means you don't even need to pay an extra cent.

πŸ”΅ For those who are new to Powershop, consider this $200 bonus credit deal.

πŸ”΅ Also you may stack with $75 referral credit.
Their sign up bonus may not apply to the cheapest plan available to you, but you may change your plan as soon as you get the bonus, which is pretty much on day 1 or day 2.

πŸ”΅ If you forget to apply your referral code, don't worry, just give them a call. Their CS is really friendly, waiting time is always short. Your referrer may also need to call them, just a confirmation of details, won't take long.

πŸ”΅ I've helped OZB members who PM me for this reason and we both got $75 right after we called the hotline.
With gov rebate + Sign up Credit + Referral Credit + Powerpacks, I have been enjoying free power for months.

πŸ”΅ After your purchase, the app shows "$30 available from 1 Aug".
Don't worry, you will see the full amount of credit on your Aug bill.
It's a bit confusing but it's just how their app is poorly designed.

To me their rate is not the cheapest on the market, but because I don't use much energy, my bill is 5% cheaper than the other provider with the cheapest rate, after this free credit promo. (i.e. Powershop becomes my cheapest provider after taking account of this powerpack.)

Shouldn't have to Shell out for this

  • How do you go about changing your rates?

  • at the moment I am with AGL 101.299c + 35.189 Single rate tariff
I can not remember if their will be any disconnection charges with AGL
Does Powerhouse charge for new connection /install
Is it worth it to join the powerhouse single rate plan plan?
Power House Single rate tariff using 4900kWh per year in the Endeavour Energy network.
Daily supply charge (incl GST) 116.65c/day (but see its 15c more /day
Single rate tariff (incl GST) 30.25c/kWh (5c less than AGL)
My last bill usage was 720 kWh, but now its winter I will probably be using extra Wattage
what would be the best deal?

    • No connection charges for me in Victoria as we have smart meters. EV day plan is good value for me.

      22.33c flat
      Free between 12-2pm
      $1.10 supply

    • If you don't have a fix term contract with AGL, then there is no fee for switching energy provider.

From the pricing info you provide, you are better off with Powershop if you use more than 3kWh/day.

If you prepaid power pack offers like this post, you will save another $10-$25 each month.

Also consider sign up bonus credit and referral credit as mentioned above.
I've PM you some further details.

      • Powershop seems expensive. Last bill I used 1700kwh. With new rates I pay 97c supply , 35c per kWh and 17c control load

  • Haven't paid for a year now

I feel like these future credit packs are a trap. I normally try and churn energy providers but the powershop approach to selling discounted future energy packs is a bit addictive but also appears to be a trap for churners like myself by committing to a future energy billing period. Idk if you can get a refund if you decide to leave but it's a good marketing/retention strategy, nonetheless.

    • I think it depends on 3 factors.
      A. Do you have a high usage?
      B. Is your current rate competitive?
      C. Is there any other attractive bonus credit offer in the market?

I don't use much energy so a $20 savings is already like 25%-33% of my monthly bill.

Also while other energy providers like AGL is offering big sign up credits, their rate is like 30% higher than my current 2024 rate with Powershop. If I churn to AGL then churn back to Powershop or other providers, the 2025 rate is higher than my current 2024 rate.
In that case the sign up bonus credit is not as attractive as it sounds like.

I agree with you that their power packs looks like a marketing strategy, however I prefer they spend their budget straight into my pocket than going to TV and radio ads.πŸ˜†

For sure, I totally agree with your points. Absolutely depends on use case, rates, sign up bonuses etc - it was more just an observation of their marketing/retention strategy style (which, admittedly, has worked on me, so far, for far too long - being a regular churner, I have overstayed my welcome here and with the recent announcement of price hikes - in my case going up by over 30% - I will be forced to, once again, move on).

Try give them a call before you leave. Last time when I called they offered me a much better rate. Good luck.

For those looking at getting the EV saver plans, just be aware that you'll only get $100 sign up bonus (+$75 for referral).

So I reckon it's better to be on the normal plan during sign up and change to EV savers afterwards to get the $200 sign up bonus

Powershop was cheapest when you could prepurchase. I just discovered they are now 6% above the market price where I am (Adelaide) and I swapped to one that was apparently 15% lower. Origins Rewards. However, now I imagine my currently provider will hike prices. It’s such a PITA. It blows my mind that I spend so much time churning between ISPs and utilities.

  • Very expensive (NSW via Ausgrid).
Daily supply charge (incl GST) 122.02c/day | Single rate tariff (incl GST) 34.45c/kWh.
