*Typical evening download speed is measured between 7pm-11pm. Typical evening upload speed is estimated by reference to the maximum upload speed for the plan. Actual throughput speeds may be slower and could vary due to various factors including interference, customer cabling and equipment, download source, and quality and distance of in-building copper. #Estimated typical evening download speed is measured between 7pm-11pm. As this is a new plan, the speed stated here is currently based on an estimate. TPG will revise the typical evening download speed once it has collected enough data on the speed performance for these plans. • Does this mean for he first month we'll be paying First month’s plan fee e.g. $79 + $10 = 89?

      • First 6 months the cost is $0 for the service and $10 for the shipping of the modem.. That's it!

  • Shots fired.

Was previously on iinet vision network, switched to this last week. My account shows $0 for 6 months, even though I have been on vision network for close to 1 year now.

    • I'm currently on iiNet. Was it hard to switch over? Do I need to notify iiNet or can I just sign up to TPG? Thanks.

      • +1

Wasn't too hard, just had to call iinet to cancel. They pro-rata refunded me for the time too

But the technician had to come out and do the install, suspect they had to assign a new fibre port in switch room or whatever they do.

No harder than usual, was only about a 20 minute downtime.

    • When should you ask iiNet to cancel your service ? before the invoice date or at any time?

It looks like TPG Fibre is not available at your address

    • I get the same result, but if I log onto my TPG account and seek out an upgrade, I get the message "CONGRATULATIONS!
Your address is eligible for a Fibre Upgrade! Pick a plan below to get started."

However, an upgrade is not entirely convenient in this house. We'd need a long cable run, through a difficult ceiling void. As much as I would like to go FTTB, old tech serves our needs well enough so far.

      • I got the same message.

TPG Fibre To The Building not available, but your address is eligible for Fibre Upgrade (FTTP, with purchase of high-speed plan).

Called customer support and they said that I need an existing Fibre connection to the house BEFORE I can order their Fibre To The Building plan.

I asked "if I signup for the FTTP plan with the free Fibre Upgrade, then will I be able to order the Fibre To The Building plan?" and the rep said "yes then it will be possible".
So hopefully that turns out to be true.

Unfortunately the upgrade process is going to take 4-8 weeks for NBN installer availability, so just have to hope this deal is still around after that.

EDIT: As jaejae69 helpfully clarified, this is targeted at Apartment Buildings with access to the Vision Network, so keep that in mind when figuring out your eligibility.

This deal has absolutely nothing to do with FTTP to a house. This is for apartment buildings still stuck on NBN100 but big enough that Vision have run their own tech and can achieve gigabit speeds. If you don’t already live in a building with Vision, there is no possible upgrade you can do or request to make yourself eligible.

        • +1

          That does make more sense.
Guess the rep was misinformed or just trying to make a sale.

Oh well, after they install the fibre I'll stick with TPG for the 'first 6 months' discount and then churn to another provider.
At least I'll get my cables upgraded, so it's still a net win.

@Noob Noob: Yeah the TPG rep is giving you the wrong information. FTTP is the best you can get. What FTTP speed did you signup for?

Don't forget to give TPG notice…

You can cancel your nbn service by contacting us to provide 30 days’ notice of cancellation.

@Twix: Churned over from NBN 50 and went with the cheapest plan eligible for the fibre upgrade, NBN 100 Unlimited Data 100Mbps/17Mbps $64.99 (first 6 months, then $94.99), to minimize costs in case of switching/cancelling plans within the first month.

With the discounts, it's the same price as their non-fibre NBN 100 and NBN 50 plan at $64.99 too.

Will schedule a reminder to make sure to give them their "30 days" notice just before the 6th month starts.
              Thanks.

@Noob Noob: $65/month is not bad. 100/20 gets boosted to 500/50 FTTP from September.

      • Moving to FTTP will be your only choice in a few years. I would figure out the cable run as soon as you can and take advantage of FTTP now.

Are you talking about a long ethernet cable run to your router or long fibre run to the nbn NTD box?

Worst customer service ive experienced in my life.
    Incompetence at a high level

  • +3

Read the details with care. I haven't read the fine print of this, but TPG normally want a set period of warning to terminate your account, INCLUDING when you churn to somebody else. My experience is they are a PITA to deal with when it comes to ending an account. They'll pass you from account specialist to account specialist, trying to talk you out of leaving.

Not available at my Opti-garbage (Opticom) address, surprise surprise

  • Saw this deal previously and switched to iiNet. Very happy for $0/month for 6 months. Speeds approaching 1Gbit down.

    • +1

TPG and iiNet both had identical $39 /month 6 months prior to this deal, hopefully they keep it low cost long term.

      Speeds are unbeatable

  • Is this same as the one with the Gfast modem like capti or Gigacomm? Or VDSL2?

    • +1

Vision Network can be g.fast or VDSL2 depending on your building.

  • There are probably no FTTB connections in the outer suburbs.
Checked a mates on the weekend as they are currently paying $99 for TPG.

Just check mine, It looks like TPG Fibre is not available at your address.
No I do care if its TPG fibre, it is NBN fibre optics.

  • funny, says it is not available for my ACT address although I am connected to iinet and it actually is the Vision network and their technician did the setup.
Is it also VDSL2Max in other states?

  • anyone know if this plan can be future dated? thanks

Didn't see any option when I signed up
