nbn FTTP 250/25Mbps Deals

Hey All,

I have been churning my internet connection (NBN) FTTP for the last two years and going from Aussie BB, Superloop and finally to More.

My more telecom one year Yello offer ends soon and need to see

  1. Can I use my partner’s CBA more discount code on my existing service?
  2. Or shall I make the move? If yes which ISPs would you recommend? I need something stable as I work from home with no internet connection issues in Sydney.

I’m paying $80/month for 250/25Mbps.

Comments

    • Are they any good now? They used to be so bad like 4 years back

      • I had some issues a few years ago with them not providing decent speeds as per the plan I'd paid for. Churned to another ISP and it was immediately better, so believe it was definitely ISP related. Since then, I've churned back a few times and no issues.

This new plan you are stuck with CGNAT, no static IP address, but that isn't an issue for me.

  • You should check what offers you still have with CommBank - at the end of my first year with More there was another nbn More offer which I was able to jump on and basically had no change to my costs.

Looking at my offers I'm seeing a $30 off per month plan right now.

    • Where can I see the offer in commbank or more site?

      • I'm seeing it in the Commbank app, under Commbank Yello/Offers.

        • Just checked nothing for me. Apparently I’m on diamond tier.
Exetel if they are stable now would give me double the speed for $80 which is the same as paying More now $80 but after 16th July it will be $119 with more.

    • Can you share that code? Its the same code for everyone but i dont have commonwealth!

  • +1

Hold out for this? Assuming it comes on time.

    • Exetel have jumped the gun and started offering a 500/50 plan for $80 per month ongoing. Albeit without some extras that people prefer, like static IP/disabling CGNAT. Decent ongoing price for a plan with speeds that high.

      • You can get 250/100 with Superloop for $85

        • $99 after 6 months. Half the download speed, double the upload speed. Depends on your situation and needs. Appears you can also get 1000/50 for $85 too.

          • @sghetti:

            $99 after 6 months

There will be new plans and prices from Sep.

I'm paying $75 for 250/100 with a static IP at present.

            • @jv: That's a decent deal. The Exetel plan has a hibernate option as well. Slow your speed down to 12/1 for $1 per day that it's hibernated. Works well for my situation and can probably hibernate for 10 days of the month as I'm often not home for days at a time.

            • @jv: What provider and plan are you on?

              • +1

                @Brakus: Superloop business plan.

                It's grandfathered…
Was on here a few months back…

                • @jv: old tariff? current pricing is $94/109

                  • +1

@Brakus: Was $85 with static IP, got got a referral bonus recently taking it down to $75 for 6 months.
Full price will be $99 when discounts finish, but by then, the new speeds will be available.

                    @Brakus:

                    current pricing is $94/109

current is $90/109 for the business plan…

                    250/100 is cheaper than 250/25

You also get prioritised support and free VOIP in addition to the static IP

                    You just need an ABN…

  • Wait until Sep when the speeds/prices will be changing…

  • If I go with Exetel for $80 can I cancel by September? More will charge me $119 from next week.

Can someone help me with the connection process?
My contract with More renews on 16th July from now it will be $119

    1. Do I go to their website cancel connection for 14th July just incase they don’t charge me $119?
    2. Go to Exetel and sign up for $80 deal?
    • If I go with Exetel for $80 can I cancel by September?

      Why not?

I think you just need to give them 1 month's notice to leave.

      • Great. Could you please let me know the disconnect process with More and connect with Exetel? Since we work from home we can’t have a single day of downtime with our Internet.

        • Moving to a new ISP is generally very easy and seamless. I was with Origin Internet yesterday, called and confirmed that they don't require 30 days notice. They cancelled my plan as of today. Meanwhile, I signed up to Exetel yesterday and was connected within 10 mins, barely even an outage, even with switching to a different UNI-D port on the NBN connection box.

ISP's are now generally providing a AVC ID, which you can use when moving to a new retailer. That'll allow them to notify your current ISP to cancel your connection. Some ISP's require the 30 days notice though, so you'll have to call them, give notice and keep the play going for 30 days, then connect to the new ISP.

Some ISP's allow you to schedule the new connection from a specified date, which can line up with your current ISP's disconnection date. I don't recall seeing this option with Exetel though, I think they process the connection immediately.

          • @sghetti:

I think they process the connection immediately.

Correct, I called up and they only offer instant (within an hours so) connection with no way to override that.

          I don't think More require 30 days notice…

Generally, I sign up with a new ISP and choose a cutover date that is a few days before my current plan is due.
Once with the new ISP, I contact the old one to confirm that account is closed.

  • Guys I got to Exetel and there’s no where to indicate the date I want to start the Internet service?

Do I take the risk of cancelling my services with More on 16th and then go to Exetel to activate the service?

My contract with More ends on 18th July.

I can’t find anywhere that I need to give 30 days notice to More for cancellation.

  • Just found out More wants one month notice :(

I just paid on 3rd July $80. My discount ends on 18th July and becomes $119.

I would like to move into Exetel without much damages. So does that mean I move to Exetel tomorrow (they say same day connection) and More will not charge me anything?

  • I am on the same boat. Planning to switch to Lightspeed Plan (1000/50), Superloop. Effectively $50/month for 3 months looks reasonable.

  • More was the worst provider I came across in my churning history at least for my use case. I use AWS WorkSpace (for any one curious - this is just a computer on cloud) and the session kept disconnecting every now and then. I spoke/wrote to More about it. The response was standard. "We have monitored your service and everything is fine."

    • Yep I agree the worst ISP. I can’t wait to churn hopefully Exetel will be good.

    • Mate just went to the referral sites. I’m confused. How do I get the code in topcash? Like where is the code?

      • +1

You don't need any codes here. Just go to TCB or use the above link in my comment and you are good to go. No referral sites required.
I did switched to Superloop yesterday night and the cashback($105) was tracked in no time. Goodluck!

  • Guys just got a call from More ISP they are offering me CBA yellow diamond discount 1000/50 Mbps $89 for 24 months or $70 for my current plan 250/25.

Do I move to Exetel or remain with More? They also agreed to give me few days of testing on the new 1000/50 plan to check if I’m happy with the speed.

    What do I do?

  • More called today they gave me free upgrade to 1000/50Mbps until my last day of the bill. I get $40 off a month from CBA Yello so it’s $89/month.

    Now im with More 1000/50Mbps trial before I decide to move to Exetel 500/40Mbps. Speedtest App At 6pm was 600/35…. 8pm 300/40…. 10pm 200/44 and from 11pm -1am 130/44Mbps.

Is this normal evening and night speeds or Exetel will give much better results?
