Hoping the fenix 8 Sapphire will drop price soon (Prime Day).

      I can't believe how expensive they've become.

I might look for alternatives to Garmin when my Fenix 5 dies. Bought it for $550 5.5 years ago, no way I'm paying $1,000 plus for a replacement.

      • I really like garmin even though expensive

      • I personally think after the Fenix 6, the Fenix line became stagnant. Many "upgrades" are 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Like the AMOLED screen is brighter but are less legible outdoor. There's a microphone to allow for call answering but intermittently works for third party softwares like WhatsApp.

The instinct watch is just as expensive the Fenix was, and all it added was basically the IQ store.

        • Years I’ve been confused by all the models. Still rocking a Fenix 6s pro. Nothing wrong with it other than battery life probably won’t last for my marathon if I have all the sensors on. Unfortunately I can’t run fast enough before the battery dies

          • @maddoglee: You can try calling Garmin about it. It's an old watch, but you should be able to get atleast 3 hours with all sensors on. Unless you use Bluetooth as well, then yeah, it ain't lasting.

    • Same i want a fenix 8 also

    • Anyone had experience changing the older garmin fenix bands to the black metal bands on aliexpress / amazon?

When i get the fenix 8 thinking of changing the bands

Subscription these days. Word is regular features will begin to also fall behind the paywall.

    • I can only see subscriptions for LTE plans on one model?

Edit: https://www.garmin.com/en-AU/p/1565777/ found it, you really don't need those features imo and that's not for this model, it's for the Fenix series.

    • You mean like subscription to use the garmin features?

      • Some models have subscriptions (ie Fenix) for extra features or an LTE plan, I can't find any information that this model does.

        • Oh thanks

          • +2

@ATTS: Even then the features are more gimmicks like a 'performance dashboard'; you really don't need it. Even those models are fine without a subscription.

            • @Dyl: I c thanks

    • Yea for the extra features that no one would use.

Bought 1, worth it for this price

    Officeworks may price beat https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/garmin-viv…

Different model number and they call it 'blue', but the barcode is the same as on camelcamelcamel, so it's the same

I called Officeworks after this comment and they price beat for $246.05! Thank you

Thanks there was only one left when I placed the order. I think oos at officeworks now but still should call to check.

      • Nice work, I didn’t bother price beating because this is already an all time low

  • Does this have apps or nfc payments ?

    • +1

Supports a lot of the major banks via Garmin Pay.
Apps are sparse and basic, but supported.
