Well, yeah - isn't that the whole point?
Agree, especially on multi-day hikes and the likes, the more calorie dense the better.. The Cool Mint Chocolate with Caffine are a great mid-afternoon pick-me-up when you feel like collapsing…
They're not a snack to eat while sitting on the couch watching TV…
Edit, and for reference, these are about 250 calories, a pack of instant noodles are around 400 calories…
I assume their reference point is more some of the bars that give you 14-16g of protein for like 600 KJ (140-150 cal).
It depends on what you want the bar for. If it is for protein, it isn't great. If it is for a broad range of calorie sources in a small package, it is perfect.
@greennick: For sure… With the multi-day hikes and desert crossings on the motorbike and the likes, I bag up protein powder in serving size snap-loc bags and have a couple of protein shakes each day, that works out better bang for the buck for protein than proper protein-bars, the Clif bars are just a quick pick-me-up, they go down quick and easy and as a coffee drinker the little bit of caffeine is appreciated as the day goes on and I don't want to stop and make a coffee…
Breakfasts on the track and for day walks I often just use the cheap Woolies 'protein bars' (not really real protein bars), they're less than $1 and the calories and protein isn't actually much less than the Clif-Bars, I don't find them as easy to eat as the Clif-Bars though, especially in a rush: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/37792/sam-…
Everything is a trade-off and compromise really…
It’s an energy bar
$22.68 on Amazon for 12
finally a deal on the clit bars
Very moist & chewy…..
these things are super calorie dense for the size imo
