      Thanks for the pointless comment

  • When i try to join it shows $315. May be offer is expired.

    • After you select the plan (1) and add your rego number (2), click Next to the 'Drivers details' (3) section, a pop up will appear with the offer. Click continue.
I guess the system checks the age of your car via the rego.

      Just checked.
I signed up today for $126.60 (includes RACV member discount)

  • Is this only applicable to Victorian drivers?

    • Don't think you can join (the roadside assistance membership) if you don't live in Victoria

  • Don't all new cars get free roadside assistance for at least 3yrs?

    • How else do they make money?

  • most new cars have 5 years roadside.

  • Thanks OP. Got 1 year Roadside Care Cover for $87 for two cars 2024 and 2014 models. If one of the model is more than two years old. you still get a discount of $181 with base cover.

With my existing total care, which I had for nearly 10 years, lets me drive any car. Is this limited to two cars?

    • +3

      RACV have joined the enshitification.
When you get your renewal they will only offer two cars.

      • +2

        Well that stinks.

        • +1

          Yeah,
          They can and they will.
Thrre no competitor who can match their network which wss built on memberships who supported them for decades.
Will they reduce the renewal if there were no call outs for last 12 months, no never.
          Just another greedy insurance provider.

@Wiser: They should have left it unchanged for existing members and allowing them to still be covered for any car they drive and only changed it for new members. It’s not like I can drive more than one car at a time.

@mapax: Gone are the days you get loyalty perks
Now you are stupid if you are loyal.

    • Did anyone receive an email about this change?
I never did and just logged into RACV to see that the change was just before my recent renewal.

      • +1

No, I didn’t receive an email or letter.
The renewal letter they sent says they notified me, but I couldn’t find it in my emails and didn’t receive a letter about it.

  • Are batteries in <2 year old cars going in winter? I'm always thinking what is the point of roadside assistance on a new car.

    • +1

Mostly for human error rather than anything vehicle related.
      Runs out of fuel/charge
Cracks the windshield doing something silly
Flat tyre and they can't be bothered to change
Leaves the key in the car and locks it
      Loses the keys
Leaves the lights on and then drains/kills the battery
      Crashes into someone while texting

      I'll stop now.
      😅

      • Crashes into someone while texting.

        Accidents are not covered.

    • Yes 😞

A jump start is still cheaper though, and you get to keep the jump starter.

    I recommend 24/7
Been with them for over a decade now.
    $127 for TWO years.
    Comparison here

    • +1

I've done the same, had a call out once and they arrived within the hour - no issues at all

    • Hopefully their services are better than the website…

  • FYI the price will go up for this 1st Aug to $318, just received my renewal notice for the higher price without explanation until I called.

    • Is the $318 the full price or the discounted for X years of membership price?
